One of the Shrines in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the Ritaag Zumo Shrine or Ritaag Zumo’s Blessing. The Shrine itself is no challenge at all. As you enter the Ritaag Zumo Shrine, Link can access the shrine’s chest, and he will be able to access the altar and talk to the monk immediately. The real challenge is completing the Into the Vortex Shrine Quest to access Ritaag Zumo Shrine. In this guide, you will learn how to complete the Into the Vortex Shrine Quest to access and complete Ritaag Zumo Shrine, obtain the chest inside, and claim the Spirit Orb.
Link will be rewarded with Spirit Orbs for completing Shrines. The Spirit Orbs obtained can be exchanged for more Heart Containers or Stamina Vessels. As there are 120 Shrines all over Hyrule, Link can get 120 Spirit Orbs. You get to decide whether you want Link to have more Hearts or more Stamina.
Location
Link would not be able to access the Ritaag Zumo Shrine immediately. Still, it will emerge from the ground in the middle of the Rist Peninsula, which is in the shape of a spiral, southeast of the East Akkala Shrine and the Katosa Aug Shrine (the shrine is east of the East Akkala beach, East Akkala Plains, and the Akkala Highlands). The Ritaag Zumo Shrine is one of eight shrines in the Akkala Tower region.
Into the Vortex
Before attempting the shrine quest, make sure that Link has enough weapons, shields, bows, arrows, and food for health (cooked or not) to use as Link may face enemies to finish the shrine quest.
To start the Into the Vortex Shrine Quest, head to the south of Rist Peninsula, where the land in the shape of a spiral connects to the mainland near Malin Bay, and there you will find a glowing orb in a small pool of water and a stone tablet with an inscription that says:
“Only a hero bearing this ancient orb shall be granted the right of trial on Rist Peninsula.”
After interacting with the stone tablet, the Into the Vortex Shrine Quest has started!
To complete this shrine quest, all Link has to carry the glowing orb to the center of the spiral of the Rist Peninsula. On the way to the center of the spiral, however, and as mentioned above, Link would be encountering a few enemies like Moblins, Stone Pebblits, Lizafalos, Bokoblins, and Octorocks. Link can set down the glowing orb and defeat the enemies. It is possible to just run past the enemies, but you would risk them being more nuisance.
It is also worth noting that there are shallow waters you can use as a shortcut and walk across near the middle of the spiral. Just look for the stone slab lying in the middle of the water.
Additionally, Link can use Revali’s Gale to glide across and skip parts of the spiral if you already have it. But, if you are going to do this, you would have to throw the glowing orb ahead first using the Stasis Rune ability.
Upon reaching the middle of the spiral, you will see a few pillars and the glowing orb socket. Put the glowing orb in the glowing orb socket, then the Ritaag Zumo Shrine will emerge from the ground just ahead of the glowing orb socket, and the Into the Vortex Shrine Quest will be completed!
Ritaag Zumo’s Blessing
Now that you have completed the Into the Vortex Shrine Quest, you can enter the Ritaag Zumo Shrine. This shrine will no longer have a challenge or puzzle inside as the puzzle was already on trying to access the shrine. Upon entering the shrine, this is what Link must do:
- Upon entering the Ritaag Zumo Shrine, head up the stairs and open the chest to obtain a Giant Ancient Core.
- Then, just after the chest, continue ahead to the altar, talk to the monk, and claim your Spirit Orb!
The Ritaag Zumo shrine, or Ritaag Zumo’s Blessing, is one of eight shrines in the Akkala Tower region. The other shrines are the Ke’nai Shakah shrine or A Modest Test of Strength, the Ze Kasho Shrine or the Ze Kasho Apparatus, the Tutsuwa Nima Shrine or A Major Test of Strength, the Dah Hesho Shrine or A Minor Test of Strength, the Katosa Aug Shrine or the Katosa Aug Apparatus, the Tu Ka’loh shrine or Tu Ka’loh’s Blessing, and the Zuna Kai Shrine or Zuna Kai’s Blessing.
