Learn everything that you need to know about Bombirdier, the Open Sky Titan in Pokemon Scarlet/Violet!
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is an open-world game where the player is a transferee in a huge school in the Paldea Region. In the game, the player and the player only gets to decide whatever they want to do: whether to defeat all the Pokemon Gyms, become the champion, and become the very best like no one ever was, to defeat the nefarious Team Star, to simply complete the Pokedex and catch them all, or to track down the mysterious new Titan Pokemon!
Here, we will talk about defeating the Titan Pokemon, which is part of the ‘Path of Legends’ quest line given by Arven. This guide will discuss defeating Bombirdier, the Open Sky Titan!
Location
The Bombirdier, the Open Sky Titan, can be found in the northwest of West Province (Area One) (or southwest of the Asado Desert) on top of a mountain with a lot of boulders rolling down and can be reached by following the path west of Cortondo until the West Province (Area One) – Central Pokemon Center then following the path a little bit more until the player finds an NPC with a picnic setup before a bridge and head up the path up the mountain on the left.
While heading up the mountain, the player must repeatedly evade the rolling boulders. It is recommended that the player use the obstacles along the way to the player’s advantage by hiding behind them if the need arises.
Bombirdier, The Open Sky Titan
As the player would have to battle against Bombirdier, the Open Sky Titan, it is worth noting that Bombirdier is a Flying and Dark type Pokemon, which means it has a weakness to Electric-type, Fairy-type, Ice-type, and Rock-type moves (super effective), a resistance to Dark-type, Ghost-type, Grass-type moves (not very effective), and immunity to Ground-type and Psychic-type moves (no effect).
Bombirdier, the Open Sky Titan, will use the following moves: Pluck, which is a physical Flying-type move with 60 Power and 100 Accuracy that, aside from dealing damage, also removes the opposing Pokemon’s Berry and uses its effects instead; Wing Attack, which is also a physical Flying-type move with 60 Power and 100 Accuracy, Rock Throw, which is a physical Rock-type move with 50 Power and 90 Accuracy, and Torment, which is a Dark-type status move with 100 Accuracy that stops the opposing Pokemon from using the same move twice.
Aside from its moves, Bombirdier the Open Sky Titan has an Ability called Rocky Payload which will boost the power of its Rock-type moves by 50%.

The player is recommended to use a Pokemon with Electric-type, Fairy-type, and Rock-type moves that is Level 20 and above against Bombirdier, the Open Sky Titan. Unfortunately for one of the starter Pokemon, Sprigatito, as it is a Grass-type Pokemon, its main Grass-type moves are ineffective against Bombirdier.
As for Fuecoco and Quaxly, as they are Fire-type and Water-type Pokemon, their main type moves will only deal with the normal effectiveness against Bombirdier. Unless these Pokemon have moves that effectively damage Bombirdier, it is not recommended to use them against Bombirdier.
These Pokemon that can be found early game can also be good against Bombirdier the Open Sky Titan: Shinx (Electric-type), Luxio (Electric type), Rockruff (Rock-type), Klawf (Rock-type), Tadbulb (Electric-type), Flaaffy (Electric-type), Pawmi (Electric-type), Pichu (Electric-type), Nacli (Rock-type), and Bonsly (Rock-type).
Unfortunately, the player will not be able to catch Bombardier the Open Sky Titan while battling it, and the only option is to defeat it. However, you can find a Bombirdier when it returns to its regular form. The player would have to interact by using the A button to battle it instead of throwing one of your Pokemon at it like other Pokemon. In this form, the player will now be able to catch it.
After catching it, Bombirdier will have a special mark and the title “Former Titan,” which means that it is the actual Open Sky Titan but has reverted to its regular form. If the player accidentally defeats the Bombirdier in this form, the Former Titan Pokemon will no longer appear in the area.
Battle 1
Upon successfully avoiding the rolling boulders and reaching the top of the mountain, Bombirdier the Open Sky Titan, who will be flying above the mountain, will notice the player, do a quick roar, head down, and start a battle with the player.
After almost defeating it, Bombirdier, the Open Sky Titan, will halt the battle, head to the side of the cliff, strike the wall, and start eating something.
Battle 2
After that, Arven will arrive and wonder if Bombirdier, the Open Sky Titan was the one who was dropping all the boulders down the mountain and say it looks like the Open Sky Titan is powering itself up. Bombirdier, the Open Sky Titan, will then go near Arven and the player with an aura surrounding it and start another battle.
In this next battle, Bombirdier the Open Sky Titan’s HP will be full again, but this time Arven and his Pokemon, Nacli, will help the player out.
It will revert to its regular form after fully defeating Bombirdier, the Open Sky Titan. A cutscene will play where the player and Arven will enter the opening at the cliff’s side Bombirdier created to check for some Bitter Herba Mystica, which Arven will find inside. Arven will then thank the player and explain that Bitter Herba Mystica is great for circulation, gets the blood flowing, and boosts the immune system. After that, Arven will set up a picnic and make sandwiches with the Bitter Herba Mystica for himself and the player. To thank the player, Arven will also give the player a Flying Titan Badge, which he made using a replica of Gym Badges, for defeating the Open Sky Titan.
While they are having a picnic, the player’s Koraidon or Miraidon (depending on which version the player is playing) will take an interest in the sandwich made with the Bitter Herba Mystica. Confirm on the prompt to give the player’s sandwich to Koraidon or Miraidon, and the player’s Koraidon or Miraidon will suddenly glow and will now be able to move across and swim in the water!
Now that the player has defeated Bombirdier the Open Sky Titan, the player is one step closer to fulfilling the player’s Koraidon and Miraidon’s true potential and completing the ‘Path of Legends’ quest line!
