In the open-world video game Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the player plays the role of a transfer student at a large academy in the Paldea Region. The player is the only one who can choose what to accomplish first in the game: whether it be to dissolve the evil Team Star, just finish the Pokedex and collect every Pokemon, search for the enigmatic new Titan Pokemon, or to defeat every Pokemon Gym, become a Champion, and be the very best like no one ever was!

Pokemon Scarlet/Violet: Ultimate Victory Road Guide

In this guide, the player will learn how to complete the “Victory Road” questline from start to finish!

The Beginning of the Victory Road

The “Victory Road” questline will start once the player talks with Nemona in the Staff Room during the player’s tour of the Academy at the beginning of the game. Nemona will tell the player to try to reach the Champion Rank like her.

She will then explain that the player can do this by collecting all eight Pokemon Gyms and collecting their Gym Badges, then taking on the Champion Assessment. After that, Nemona will save the Pokemon Gym’s locations on the player’s Rotom phone. After that, the “Victory Road” questline officially started!

When taking on Pokemon Gyms in the Paldea region, the player must first complete a new mechanic called Gym Tests before the player can challenge the Gym Leader. Every Pokemon Gym has its unique Gym Test, and the player must win battles against a few trainers with one or two Pokemon in almost all of the Gym Tests.

This is the recommended order of the Pokemon Gyms to take on:

1. Cortondo Gym

rq 2xt2tLJRgtJmkDdDHxQBbI3Y9GdONUhDB0o j7IHW8RNCY BsQj

The Cortondo Gym is a Bug-type Pokemon Gym found in Cortondo, the first city west of Mesagoza, just ahead of South Province (Area Two) (northeast of Alfornada City or northwest of Los Platos).

Gym Test

The Gym Test in the Cortondo Gym is called the Olive Roll Challenge. To start this Gym Test, head inside the Cortanda Gym and talk to the receptionist, who will explain how to complete the Olive Roll Challenge by rolling a large olive-shaped ball to the goal.

After that, exit the Cortondo Gym, head to the western end of the city, then take the path that heads north, where there is a large fenced area with a person just outside saying that the player can try the Olive Roll right there.

Talk to the attendant, who will explain that the player must get the olive-shaped ball over various obstacles and push it to the goal to clear the course. After that, confirm the prompt to start on the Olive Roll Challenge!

This Gym Test is quite simple to complete, as there is a path where the player can simply push the large olive-shaped ball toward the goal, which is a large red basket. There are two shortcuts, however, where Trainers block the paths and some of Smolivs, and the player must defeat the Trainers to pass through.

The first shortcut is on the area’s eastern side, near the goal, where the Trainer will use a Kricketune, and the second shortcut is on the northern side, nearer the goal, where the Trainer will use a Venonat.

If the player decides to battle these trainers and use these shortcuts, it is important to mention that Kricketune is a Bug-type Pokemon. Hence, it has a weakness to Fire-type, Flying-type, and Rock-type moves (super effective) and a resistance to Fighting-type, Grass type and Ground-type moves (not very effective). Venonat is a Bug and Poison-type Pokemon, so it has a weakness to Fire-type, Flying-type, Psychic-type, and Rock-type moves (super effective) and a resistance to Fighting-type, Grass-type, and especially Bug-type, Fairy-type, and Poison-type moves (not very effective).

Return to the Cortondo Gym after completing the Olive Roll Challenge Gym Test, and speak with the receptionist, who will congratulate the player on completing the Gym Test and say that the player has now earned the right to challenge the Cortondo Gym Leader, Katy, the Sugarbug!

Confirm on the prompt that the player is ready to challenge Gym Leader Katy, and the player will be transferred to the battle court, located just across the street from the Coronado Gym.

Gym Leader Katy, the Sugarbug

zWud3jpFGjSM4SdkIzhiOLEx7ZCOb4 WNval5jYIT3P9WKOc52x9c7JjBHZjvqzBV

Gym Leader Katy will use three Bug Pokemon: a Level 14 Nymble, a Level 14 Tarountula, and a Level 15 Teddiursa with a Bug Tera-type. Gym Leader Katy will use these Pokemon in this order and Terastallize Teddiursa, changing it from normal to pure Bug type.

All of Gym Leader Katy’s Pokemon are Bug-type Pokemon, so it is worth noting that Bug-type Pokemon have a weakness to Fire-type, Flying-type, and Rock-type moves (super effective) and a resistance to Fighting-type, Grass-type, and Ground-type moves (not very effective).

Gym Leader Katy’s Nymble will use the following moves:

  • Struggle Bug is a special Bug-type move with 50 Power and 100 Accuracy that also lowers the Special Attack stat of the opposing Pokemon by one stage.
  • Double Kick is a physical Fighting-type move with 30 Power and 100 Accuracy that attacks twice in a row.

Gym Leader Katy’s Tarountula will use the following moves:

  • Bug Bite is a physical Bug-type move with 60 Power and 100 Accuracy that will remove the opposing Pokemon’s Berry and use its effect.
  • Assurance is a physical Dark-type move with 60 Power and 100 Accuracy that will deal double damage if the opposing Pokemon has already been damaged earlier in the same turn.

Gym Leader Katy’s Teddiursa will use the following moves:

  • Fury Swipes is a physical Normal-type move with 18 Power and 80 Accuracy that will attack the opposing Pokemon two to five in a row (37.5% chance to hit twice, 37.5% chance to hit thrice, 12.5% chance to hit four times, and 12.5% chance to hit five times).
  • Fury Cutter is a physical Bug-type move with 40 Power and 95 Accuracy that increases if it hits consecutively.

As Gym Leader Katy’s Pokemon are Level 14 and 15, it is recommended that the player’s Pokemon be Level 16 and above with Fire-type, Flying-type, and Rock-type moves.

Rewards

After defeating the Cortondo Gym, the player will receive the Bug Badge and TM021 called Pounce, which is a physical Bug-type move that will also lower the opposing Pokemon’s Speed stat. Pounce has 50 Power, 100 Accuracy, and 20 PP.

2. Artazon Gym

xCb 49KGXwW EIQTJ8URcu2MgWuD2V78KtkC88J0 Z6gVc2pclMjHDrGI5aDuS4i45Qboh hTrLFGmWwO8QkAERl 3Cz6v17hZhgbsUUhL2MEPTYW0MwV7Vy3 2zd0AgJZnWAbSWEc71BpM93B8nyfk

The Artazon Gym is a Grass-type Gym that is found near the middle of, well, Artazon, which is the first city in the east of Mesagoza, just ahead of the path of South Province (Area Three) (southwest of Levincia City or southeast of East Province Area One).

Gym Test

The Gym Test in the Artazon Gym is the Sunflora Hide-and-Seek! To start this Gym Test, enter the Artazon Gym and talk to the receptionist, who will explain how to complete the Sunflora Hide-and-Seek, which is by finding all of the Sunflora throughout Artazon.

After talking to the receptionist, exit the Artazon Gym, and head to the right side of the Artazon Gym, where there is a lawn with two Sunflora statues on both sides of its entrance called the Sunflora Lawn. Talk to the attendant near the entrance, who will start to ask the Sunflora to spread themselves around Artazon.

Then, she will say that the Sunflora is ready for the player and that the player’s Gym Test has now begun. She will further explain that the player must find 10 Sunfloras and return them to the Sunflora Lawn

The Sunflora Hide-and-Seek is actually simple to complete because Artazon is a small city, so it is easy to find 10 Sunfloras. There are actually more than 10 Sunfloras around Artazon, and these are their locations:

  • Three Sunflora are directly in front of the Sunflora Lawn
  • In the Sunflora Lawn on the left side of the house
  • Beside the path on the southern part of Artazon’s middle structure (the Pokemon Battle arena with a windmill). This Sunflora would have to be chased by the player. After catching up, the player must battle and defeat this Sunflora.
  • The northern side of Artazon’s middle structure, near the stairs that serve as the entrance.
  • In the middle of the Pokemon Battle Arena in the middle of Artazon. The player would also have to battle and defeat this Sunflora.
  • Near the pond across the path on the northern part of the middle structure of Artazon.
  • Follow the wooden path on the right side of the previous Sunflora (the northern part of the middle structure of Artazon) and take the next wooden path to the left to find a Sunflora at the end of the path.
  • In the middle of an art structure on the right side of the wooden path.
  • On a flower pot beside a statue of a Sunflora and a couple of benches on the northwestern end of Artazon.
  • Near the flowers on the western end of Artazon, near the Pokemon Center. The player must also chase, battle, and defeat this Sunflora.
  • In the southwestern end behind a building in the southwestern end of Artazon.
  • Under the kids’ play area in the southeast of the Artazon Gym.
  • On a flower pot directly behind the Artazon Gym.
  • On the western side of Artazon Gym, play a game similar to hopscotch.
  • Facing a vending machine near the southeastern end of the pool just southwest of the Artazon Gym.
  • Near one of the food carts on the northwestern end of the pool just southwest of the Artazon Gym.
  • Near the flowers on the eastern end of Artazon, near the Pokemon Center.
  • On the left side of the middle building just slightly north of the previous Sunflora.

Because the player would have to battle a few Sunfloras, it is worth mentioning that Sunflora is a Grass-type Pokemon, so it has a weakness to Bug-type, Fire-type, Flying-type, Ice-type, and Poison-type moves (super effective) and a resistance to Electric-type, Grass-type, Ground-type, and Water-type moves (not very effective).

Return to the Sunflora Lawn on the eastern side of the Artazon Gym after finding 10 Sunfloras, and the Sunfloras will run inside to complete the Sunflora Hide-and-Seek Gym Test!

After completing the Sunflora Hide-and-Seek Gym Test, return to the Artazon Gym and speak with the receptionist again, who will inform the player that they have earned the chance to confront the Artazon Gym Leader, Brassius the Verdant Virtuoso!

Confirm on the prompt that the player is ready to face Gym Leader Brassius and the player will be transported to the battle court, which is the building structure in the center of Artazon City with the windmill.

Gym Leader Brassius, The Verdant Virtuoso

7ZjEHYXOzUQg3PWNfg6zGOpuA6Jmt ltmOvPUcbTLqRbu9RytKRM5jTuZxcFCcntYxKjLeqqTer9bWXGjNOw4glOTJykJ18ZL01 rDT6SMW6NjAIYvYM2YUcRiL78Kb9e qp

Gym Leader Brassius will use three Grass-type Pokemon: a Level 16 Petilil, a Level 16 Smoliv, and a Level 17 Sudowoodo with a Grass Tera-type. Gym Leader Katy will use these Pokemon in this order and Terastallize Sudowoodo, changing it from a Rock-type to a pure Grass-type.

Petilil is a Grass-type Pokemon, so it has a weakness to Bug-type, Fire-type, Flying-type, Ice-type, and Poison-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Electric-type, Grass-type, Ground-type, and Water-type moves (not very effective).

Brassius’ Petilil will use the following moves:

  • Mega Drain is a special Grass-type move with 40 Power and 100 Accuracy that will recover the HP of the Pokemon using the move by half of the damage dealt.
  • Sleep Powder is a Grass-type status move with 75 Accuracy that will put the opposing Pokemon to sleep

Smoliv
is a Grass and Normal-type, so it has a weakness to Bug-type, Fire-type, Fighting-type, Flying-type, Ice-type, and Poison-type moves (super effective), a resistance to Electric-type, Grass-type, Ground-type, and Water-type moves (not very effective), and an immunity to Ghost-type moves (no effect).

Brassius’ Smoliv will use the following moves:

  • Tackle is a physical Normal-type move with 40 Power and 100 Accuracy.
  • Razor Leaf is a physical Grass-type move with 55 Power and 95 Accuracy that also has a 1-stage increased Critical Hit ratio.

Sudowoodo, because of its Tera-type and as Gym Leader Brassius will Terastallize it, will become a Grass-type Pokemon, so it has a weakness to Bug-type, Fire-type, Flying-type, Ice-type, and Poison-type moves (super effective), and resistance to Electric-type, Grass-type, Ground-type, and Water-type moves (not very effective).

Brassius’ Sudowoodo will use the following moves:

  • Rock Throw is a physical Rock-type move with 50 Power and 90 Accuracy.
  • Trailblaze is a physical Grass-type move with 50 Power and 100 Accuracy that will also raise the Speed stat of the Pokemon using the move by one stage.

As Brassius’ Pokemon are Level 16 and 17, it is advised that the player’s Pokemon are Level 18 and above with Bug-type, Flying-type, Ice-type, and Poison-type moves.

Rewards

After defeating the Artazon Gym, the player will be given the Grass Badge, and TM020 called Trailblaze, which has 50 Power, 100 Accuracy, and 20 PP.

3. Levincia Gym

76uuizGqWmktXPSdODsRTMrfZlWcAuiu6SDbJ62d59RSzsP2RIkMmCpliTY0jXEzluRlOB60FmbAEUNlxTXFo47P3w51y5 Twx9VMRTClRID BxYL9aMNHjCuvolQIql0Fo2BP9MKDE VqyZW09ru4

The Levincia Gym is an Electric-type Gym and is located in the southwestern part of, well, Levincia, which is the second city in the east of Mesagoza City just ahead of the path of East Province (Area Two) (northwest of Artazon or southeast of East Province Area Three).

The Schedar Squad, Team Star’s Fire Crew, will be blocking the way to Levincia, meaning the player must first beat Team Star’s Fire Crew in the East Province (Area One), near the Pokemon Center. The way to Levincia will be open after defeating Mela and Team Star’s Fire Crew.

Nemona Battle 1

Upon entering the player’s third Pokemon Gym (be it Levincia Gym or any Pokemon Gym as long as it is the third Gym that the player is about to challenge), Nemona will find and talk to the player, then challenge the player to a battle!

For this battle, Nemona will only use three Pokemon: a Level 21 Rockruff, a Level 21 Pawmi, and a Pokemon that depends on the player’s starter Pokemon: a Level 22 Crocalor, Floragato, or Quaxwell.

Rockruff is a Rock-type Pokemon which means that it has a weakness to Fighting-type, Grass-type, Ground-type, Steel-type, and Water-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Fire-type, Flying-type, Normal-type, and Poison-type moves (not very effective).

Nemona’s Rockruff will use Rock Throw, which is a physical Rock-type move with 50 Power and 90 Accuracy.

Pawmi is an Electric-type Pokemon which means that it has a weakness to Ground-type moves (super effective) and a resistance to Electric-type, Flying-type, and Steel-type moves (not very effective).

Nemona’s Pawmi will use Thunder Shock, which is a special Electric-type move with 40 Power and 100 Accuracy that has a 10 chance of paralyzing the opposing Pokemon.

As mentioned, Nemona’s last Pokemon, which she will Terastillize so their moves with the same type as their Tera Type will be boosted, depends on the player’s starter Pokemon

If the player chooses Sprigatito, Nemona will use Quaxwell, which is a Water-type Pokemon with a Water Tera-Type, so it has a weakness to Electric-type and Grass-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Fire-type, Ice-type, Steel-type, and Water-type moves (not very effective).

Nemona’s Quaxwell will use the following moves:

  • Wing Attack is a physical Flying-type move with 60 Power and 100 Accuracy.
  • Water Pulse is a special Water-type move with 60 Power and 100 Accuracy that also has a 20% chance of confusing the opposing Pokemon.

If the player chooses Fuecoco, Nemona will use Floragato, which is a Grass-type Pokemon with a Grass Tera-Type, so it has a weakness to Bug-type, Fire-type, Flying-type, Ice-type, and Poison-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Electric-type, Grass-type, Ground-type, and Water-type moves (not very effective).

Nemona’s Floragato will use the following moves:

  • Bite is a special Dark-type move with 60 Power and 100 Accuracy that also has a 30% chance of causing the opposing Pokemon to flinch.
  • Magical Leaf is a special Grass-type move with 60 Power and never misses.

If the player chooses Quaxly, Nemona will use Crocalor, which is a Fire-type Pokemon with a Fire Tera-Type, so it has a weakness to Ground-type, Rock-type, and Water-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Bug-type, Fairy-type, Fire-type, Grass-type, Ice-type, and Steel-type moves (not very effective).

Nemona’s Crocalor will use the following moves:

  • Yawn is a Normal-type status move that will cause the targeted Pokemon to sleep at the end of its next turn.
  • Incinerate is a special Fire-type move with 60 Power and 100 Accuracy that will remove the opposing Pokemon’s held Berry.

As Nemona’s Pokemon are Level 21 and 22, it is recommended that the player use Pokemon that are Level 23 and above with Ground-type moves, as this will deal super effective damage to Rockruff and Pawmi. Against Nemona’s third Pokemon, simply use the starter Pokemon that the player chose, as it will always be super effective against Nemona’s chosen starter Pokemon.

Gym Test

After defeating Nemona, the player can now proceed with the Gym Test in the Levincia Gym called the “Where in Levincia is Mr. Walksabout”!

To begin the Levincia Gym Test, have the player enter the Levincia Gym and speak with the receptionist, who will inform the player that they must first star in one of Iono’s streams am will explain how to begin the Levincia Gym Test, which is as simple as walking outside of the Gym building.

Outside the Levincia Gym building, the player will be stopped by Iono and feature the player in her stream called the Iono Zone and say that the player must take part in the Gym Test she will call “Where in Levincia is Mr. Walksabout.” In order to complete this Gym Test, Iono will explain that the player must find Director Clavell using the street surveillance cameras three times. After that, the Gym test will start!

Find Mr. Walksabout 1

For the first street surveillance feed of the street near the Levincia Gym building, Director Clavell is sitting at a patio table under the second umbrella from the right.

After finding Director Clavell in the first street surveillance feed, the player would then have to battle one of Iono’s fans before continuing to the next street surveillance feed. Iono’s fan will only use a Level 22 Luxio, which is an Electric-type Pokemon, so it has a weakness to Ground-type moves (super effective) and a resistance to Electric-type, Flying-type, and Steel-type moves (not very effective).

Find Mr. Walksabout 2

In the second street surveillance feed of the street near the Pokemon Center in the northern part of the city, Director Clavell is on the left side of the screen inside the Pokemon Center in place of the nurse in the middle.

After finding Director Clavell in the second street surveillance feed, the player would have to battle another one of Iono’s fans before moving on to the last street surveillance feed. Iono’s fan will use two Pokemon: Level 22 Tynamo and a Level 22 Flaaffy, which are both Electric-type Pokemon which means they also have a weakness to Ground-type moves (super effective) and a resistance to Electric-type, Flying-type, and Steel-type moves (not very effective).

Find Mr. Walksabout 3

For the third street surveillance feed of the battle court in the middle of Levincia, Director Clavell is on the right side of the screen, riding on the back of a boat under the battle court.

After passing the Gym Test, return to the Levincia Gym and speak with the receptionist, who will inform the player that they have earned the chance to face the Levincia Gym Leader, Iono, the Supercharged Streamer! Confirm on the prompt that the player is prepared to fight Gym Leader Iono and the player will be transported to the battle court, which is located along the wide bridge in the center of Levincia.

Gym Leader Iono, The Supercharged Streamer

3xuCwH7pmkFVlt2GXII37u1eCaDYqUUNw5KTjoUeMamIYg3WZcTkiOfPJXwRQgZuA7 s6WsnBgcELEG42ey5Sd9LY0uzVXbRojBE3 hORVHcAEFwV8ImYzG6E tZiKjqhTlmehWPeZQ4sASOm4791jQ

Gym Leader Iono will use four Electric-type Pokemon: a Level 23 Wattrel, a Level 23 Bellibolt, a Level 23 Luxio, and a Level 24 Mismagius with an Electric Tera-type. Gym Leader Katy will use these Pokemon in this order and Terastallize Mismagius, changing it from a Ghost-type to a pure Electric-type.

Wattrel is an Electric and Flying-type Pokemon, so it has a weakness to Ice-type and Rock-type moves (super effective), a resistance to Bug-type, Fighting-type, Flying-type, Grass-type, and Steel-type moves (not very effective), and an immunity to Ground-type moves (no effect).

Iono’s Wattrell will use the following moves:

  • Quick Attack is a physical Normal-type move with 40 Power and 100 Accuracy that has an increased Speed priority of 1, which makes it go faster than most moves.
  • Pluck is a physical Flying-type move with 60 Power and 100 Accuracy that will also remove the Berry of the target Pokemon and uses its effect instead.
  • Spark is a special Electric-type move with 65 Power and 100 Accuracy that also has a 30% of paralyzing the opposing Pokemon.

Bellibolt and Luxio are both Electric-type Pokemon, so they both have a weakness to Ground-type moves (super effective) and a resistance to Electric-type, Flying-type, and Steel-type moves (not very effective).

Iono’s Bellibolt will use the following moves:

  • Water Gun, which is a special Water-type move with 40 Power and 100 Accuracy.
  • Spark

Iono’s Bellibolt has the ability of Electromorphosis, which charges the Bellibolt and increases the power of the next Electric-type move it uses if an attack hits it.

Iono’s Luxio will use the following moves:

  • Spark
  • Bite

Iono’s Luxio has the ability Intimidate, which reduces the opposing Pokemon’s Attack stat by one stage if Luxio enters the battlefield.

Mismagius, because of its Tera type and as Gym Leader Iono will terastallize it, will become an Electric-type, so it now also has a weakness to Ground-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Electric-type, Flying-type, and Steel-type moves (not very effective).

Iono’s Mismagius, on the other hand, will become resistant to Ground-type moves due to its Ability, Levitate, which means that Iono’s Mismagius will no longer have any weaknesses.

Iono’s Mismagius will use the following moves:

  • Hex is a special Ghost-type move with 65 Power and 100 Accuracy that deals double damage if the target Pokemon already has a status condition.
  • Confuse Ray is a Ghost-type status move with 100 Accuracy that will confuse the opposing Pokemon.
  • Charge Beam is a special Electric-type move with 50 Power and 90 Accuracy that also has a 70% chance of raising the Special Attack stat of the Pokemon using the move by one stage.

Against Gym Leader Iono, it is advised to use Pokemon that are Level 25 and above with Ground-type and Rock-type moves. Ground-type moves will deal super-effective damage to Iono’s Bellibolt and Luxio, the Rock-type moves will deal super-effective damage to Wattrel.

As Iono’s Mismagius will no longer have a weakness, the player can use any type of move against it to deal a normal amount of damage except for Electric-type, Flying-type, and Steel-type moves.

Rewards

After defeating Levincia Gym, the player will be rewarded with the Electric-Gym Badge, and TM048 called Volt Switch, which is a special Electric-type move that, when used, replaces the Pokemon using the move with another Pokemon in the trainer’s party after it performs its attack. Volt Switch has 70 Power, 100 Accuracy, and 20 PP.

4. Cascarrafa Gym

Ps DB7igfNPi8G8mJCSqv4CGLBqE7cq4zJB

The Cascarrafa Gym is a Water-type Gym that is located in the southeastern part of, well, the city of Cascarrafa, which is directly west of the Great Crater of Paldea. Cascarrafa can be reached by following the main path west of Cortondo through West Province (Area One) (southwest of Medali or east of Asado Desert).

The Segin Squad, Team Star’s Dark Crew, will be blocking the path leading to Cascarrafa. So, the player must first beat Team Star’s Dark Crew in the West Province (Area One) immediately north of the Pokemon Center. The passage to Cascarrafa will now be passable after beating Giacomo and Team Star’s Dark Crew.

Gym Test

The Gym Test in the Cascarrafa Gym is to make the winning bid at an auction! Before the player can actually start this Gym Test, however, the player must first do something for the Gym Leader.

Head to the Cascarrafa Pokemon Gym, where a cutscene will play in which Kofu, the Cascarrafa Gym Leader, will leave quickly but has forgotten his wallet. The Gym Receptionist will then request that the player return Kofu’s wallet

To complete this request, the player must bring the wallet to Kofu at Porto Marinada, a town on the other side of the Asado Desert in the western part of Cascarrafa

When you get to Porto Marinada, go to the market in the heart of town and approach Kofu. A cutscene will play in which Kofu realizes he won’t be able to buy today’s hot item without his wallet. Then one of his apprentices will offer and search for Kofu’s wallet.

The apprentice will stop the player from approaching Kofu. Confirm on the prompt that the player has something important to say to Kofu, and a battle against the apprentice will commence! The apprentice will only use two Pokemon, which are a Level  Floatzel and Clauncher

Floatzel and Clauncher are both Water-type Pokemon, so they both have a weakness to Electric-type and Grass-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Fire-type, Ice-type, Steel-type, and Water-type moves (not very effective).

After defeating the apprentice, the player will return Kofu’s wallet to him, who will then thank the player and explain that there is something in the Porto Marinada auction that he really wants to get his hands on.

The auctioneer will then shout that it is now time for today’s last item, which is the legendary wakame seaweed from the Hoenn region. Kofu will then say that the player must get the winning bid on the seaweed to complete the Gym Test

The player must compete with other customers at the auction for the wakami seaweed, and the highest bidder wins. After that, Kofu will give the player 50,000 Pokemon Dollars to bid on the seaweed, and the Cascarrafa Gym Test will begin!

The auctioneer will announce that bidding will begin at 10,000 Pokemon Dollars. The bidding is entirely up to the player. However, any money left over will be given to the player. As a result, the player can always choose the lowest bid on the prompt or perhaps not bid at all during an offer until the other two buyers give up.

Whatever the player decides to spend, the other two bidders will undoubtedly give up after the player bids all 50,000 Pokemon Dollars, implying that the Gym Test is still a sure win. It is up to the player to strategize if they want to keep some of the money.

After completing the Gym Test, head back to the Cascarrafa Gym building then talk to the receptionist, who will say that the player has passed the Gym Test Confirm on the prompt that the player is ready to challenge the Cascarrafa Gym Leader, Kofu the Surging Chef and the player will now be brought to the battle court along the large bridge in the lowest part of Cascarrafa.

Gym Leader Kofu, The Surging Chef

Gym Leader Kofu will use three Water-type Pokemon: a Level 29 Veluza, a Level 29 Wugtrio, and a Level 30 Crabominable with a Water Tera type. Gym Leader Kofu will Terastallize Crabominable, changing it to a pure Water type.

Veluza is a Water and Psychic-type Pokemon, so it has a weakness to Bug-type, Dark-type, Electric-type, Ghost-type, and Grass-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Fighting-type, Fire-type, Ice-type, Psychic-type, Steel-type and Water-type moves (not very effective).

Kofu’s Veluza will use the following moves:

  • Slash is a physical Normal-type move with 70 Power and 100 Accuracy that also has a 1-stage increased Critical Hit ratio.
  • Aqua Cutter is a physical Water-type move with 70 Power and 100 Accuracy and also has an increased Critical Hit ratio.
  • Pluck

Kofu’s Veluza has the Mold Breaker Ability, which allows Kofu’s Veluza to use moves without being affected by the opposing Pokemon’s Abilities.

Wugtrio is a Water-type Pokemon, so it has a weakness to Electric-type and Grass-type moves (super effective) and a resistance to Fire-type, Ice-type, Steel-type, and Water-type moves (not very effective).

Kofu’s Wugtrio will use the following moves

  • Mud-Slap is a special Ground-type move with 20 Power and 100 Accuracy that will also lower the opposing Pokemon’s Accuracy by one stage.
  • Headbutt is a physical Normal-type move with 70 Power and 100 Accuracy that also has a 30% chance of causing the opposing Pokemon to flinch.
  • Water Pulse

Crabominable because of its Tera type, and as Gym Leader, Kofu will terastallize it, will become a Water-type. It also now has a weakness to Electric-type and Grass-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Fire-type, Ice-type, Steel-type, and Water-type moves (not very effective).

Kofu’s Crabominable will use the following moves:

  • Crabhammer is a physical Water-type move with 100 Power and 90 Accuracy that also has a 1-stage increased Critical Hit ratio.
  • Rock Smash is a physical Fighting-type move with 40 Power and 100 Accuracy that also has a 50% chance to lower the Defense stat of the opposing Pokemon by one stage.
  • Slam is a physical Normal-type move with 80 Power and 75 Accuracy.

Because Gym Leader Kofu’s Pokemon are Level 29 and 30, It is advised that the player use Pokemon that are at least Level 31 with Electric-type and Grass-type moves to defeat Gym Leader Kofu easily.

Rewards

After defeating Gym Leader Kofu, the player will be rewarded the Water Gym Badge and TM022 called Chilling Water, which is a special Water-type move that will decrease the opposing Pokemon’s Attack Stat by one stage. Chilling Water has 50 Power, 100 Accuracy, and 20 PP.

5. Medali Gym

TNCgVndudgh18XB3iYMieBReKEB3A3KgjJLRE56mAxWSamchoMJWD6aWPtf3sAzRwyVNwADsoSp

The Medali Gym is a Normal-type Gym and is located in the northern part of the city of Medali, which is directly northwest of the Great Crater of Paldea (or northeast of Cascarrafa and the Asado Desert or southwest of Glaseado Mountain). Medali can be reached by following the main path northeast of Porto Marinada through West Province (Area Two) and West Province (Area Three).

Gym Test

The Medali Gym Test is to order the secret menu item! Enter the Medali Gym and speak with the receptionist, who will explain that the player and three other Gym Test challengers will be given a clue to help them identify the secret dish.

The player must locate the other Gym Test challengers and battle them, and the loser must reveal their clue to the winner. Collect the clues and utilize them to figure out what the secret dish is, then order it from the waiter at Treasure Eatery

Player Clue

The receptionist will then reveal the player’s clue, which is to discover how the regulars season their dishes. Leave the Gym building and enter the Treasure Eatery, which is located in the city’s northeastern part, just south of the Medali (East) Pokemon Center.

The “regular” with whom the player must speak is a man in a dark gray suit who is seated on the bottommost seat of the bar area in the Treasure Eatery’s northwesternmost corner. Speak with the man and select ‘Are you a regular here?’ from the prompt, and he will advise the player that a nice squeeze of lemon gives any dish a refreshing kick.

Clue 1

One of the Gym Test challengers is a young student located just across the street from the entrance of Treasure Eatery. The young student will have a speech balloon over their head that says, “I’m gonna beat the Medali Gym!” with a black arrow. Talk to the young student, and a battle for the clues will begin!

This Gym Test challenger will use two Pokemon: a Level 34 Gumshoos and a Level 34 Greedent, which are both Normal type Pokemon. Hence, they have a weakness to Fighting-type moves (super effective) and an immunity to Ghost type moves (no effect).

After winning the battle, speak with the student, and she will give the player her clue, which is to look for something that is the odd one out at one of the ice cream stands. To solve this riddle, go to the food stands behind the student and speak with the merchant of the ice cream stand on the right to see what they have to offer. Grilled Rice Balls are at the bottom of the list, which are obviously the odd ones because they are supposed to be selling ice cream.

Clue 2

The next Gym Test challenger is a female student on the right side of the Medali Gym in the western part of the city. The student will have a speech balloon over their head that says, “I’ve got to order that secret dish…” with a black arrow. Talk to the student, and a battle will commence!

This Gym Test challenger will only use one Pokemon: a Level 34 Ursaring, which is also a Normal-type Pokemon that has a weakness to Fighting-type moves (super effective) and an immunity to Ghost-type moves (no effect).

After winning the battle, talk to the student to reveal her clue: to look for a dark spot surrounded by stairs. To solve this riddle, head to the amphitheater just ahead of the student, head down the stairs and towards the closed gate at the bottom, then interact with it to find a writing that says “Fire Blast.”

Clue 3

The final Gym Test challenger is a male student near the sandwich shop and canned food shop in the southern part of the city with a speech balloon over their head that says, “Anyone here taking the Gym Test?!” with a black arrow. Talk to the student, and a battle will begin!

This Gym Test challenger will only use one Pokemon: a Level 34 Dunsparce, which is also a Normal-type Pokemon that has a weakness to Fighting-type moves (super effective) and an immunity to Ghost-type moves (no effect).

After winning the battle, talk to the student to reveal his clue: to listen really closely to the bluebird Pokemon. To solve this riddle, follow the path to the city’s northeast, where there will be a cabbie with a talking Squawkabilly on the crossing. Simply stand near the cabbie with his blue Squawkabilly, and the Squawkabilly will keep talking and eventually say, “Meedyum! Meedyum!”

The Secret Dish

After gathering all the clues, head back to the Treasure Eatery and talk to the waiter just ahead of the entrance. The waiter will then ask what the player will be ordering, so, using the clues gathered, select ‘Grilled rice balls,’ then ‘Medium serving,’ then ‘Extra crispy, Fire Blast style,’ then, finally, ‘Lemon’ on the prompt.

Following that, the waiter will shout it to the restaurant’s chef, and the entire establishment will begin to rumble, revealing a battle court and completing the Gym Test. Then, talk to the waiter (or heal your Pokemon first) and confirm on the prompt that the player is ready to challenge the Medali Gym Leader, Larry the Exceptional Everyman, and the player will now be brought to the revealed battle court.

Gym Leader Larry, The Exceptional Everyman

amkn9fXBYNasOW6XYT63jG1Hzy8QFdxl5YkBSvWgKY JHai2tJS1LZcNFIYNzOVtVjr0yH czg5yHVf0dzkxQbo6Ip5z019OIZQH8 Gfan3mb1jl2OuQmZ8K9TbNQyajdAEWb7pggbQVbbYS3vb8rTI

Gym Leader Larry will use three Normal-type Pokemon: a Level 35 Komala, a Level 35 Dudunsparce, and a Level 36 Staraptor with a Normal Tera-type. Gym Leader Larry will terastallize Staraptor, changing it from a Normal and Ice-type to a pure Normal-type.

Komala and Dudunsparce are both Normal-type Pokemon, so they have a weakness to Fighting-type moves (super effective) and an immunity to Ghost-type moves (no effect).

Larry’s Komala will use the following moves:

  • Sucker Punch is a physical Dark-type move with 70 Power and 100 Accuracy that will only damage the opposing Pokemon if it is about to use a damaging move and will fail otherwise.
  • Yawn
  • Slam

Larry’s Komala’s Ability, Comatose, allows the Pokemon using the Ability to always be treated as if it were asleep but can still attack normally. Additionally, the attacks and abilities affected by Sleep still apply, like Sleep Talk, Snore, Hex, Wake-Up, Slap, Dream Eater, Nightmare, and Bad Dreams.

Larry’s Dudunsparce will use the following moves:

  • Drill Run is a physical Ground-type move with 80 Power and 95 Accuracy that also has a 1-stage increased Critical Hit ratio.
  • Glare is a Normal-type status move with 100 Accuracy that paralyzes the opposing Pokemon.
  • Hyper Drill is a physical Normal-type move with 100 Power and 100 Accuracy that can also penetrate through moves like Protect and Detect.

Staraptor, because of its Tera-type and as Gym Leader Larry will terastallize it, will become a Normal-type. It also now has a weakness to Fighting-type moves (super effective) and an immunity to Ghost-type moves (no effect).

Larry’s Staraptor will use the following moves:

  • Facade is a physical Normal-type move with 70 Power and 100 Accuracy that will deal double damage if the opposing Pokemon is afflicted with Paralysis, Burn, Poison, or Toxic Poison.
  • Aerial Ace is a physical Flying-type move with 60 Power and never misses unless the opposing Pokemon uses Protect, Detect, Bounce, Dig, Dive, Fly, Phantom Force, Shadow Force, and Sky Drop.

Larry’s Staraptor’s Ability, Intimidate, lowers the opposing Pokemon’s Attack stat by one stage whenever the Pokemon using the Ability enters the battlefield.

Against Gym Leader Larry, It is recommended that the player’s Pokemon be Level 37 and above with Fighting type moves to defeat Gym Leader Larry comfortably.

Rewards

After defeating the Medali Gym, the player will be rewarded with the Normal-type Gym Badge and TM025 called Facade, which is a physical Normal-type move where the damage dealt to the opposing Pokemon will be doubled if the Pokemon using the move is afflicted with Burn, Paralysis, Poison, or Toxic Poison. Facade has 70 Power, 100 Accuracy, and 20 PP.

Nemona Battle 2

After the player defeats their fifth Pokemon Gym, Nemona will once again challenge the player to a battle!

Nemona will use four Pokemon: a Level 36 Lycanroc (Midday Form), a Level 36 Goomy, a Level 36 Pawmo, and a Pokemon that depends on the player’s starter Pokemon: a Level 37 Meowscarada, Quaquaval, or Skeledirge.

Lycanroc (Midday Form) is a Rock-type Pokemon which means that it has a weakness to Fighting-type, Grass-type, Ground-type, Steel-type, and Water-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Fire-type, Flying-type, Normal-type, and Poison-type moves (not very effective).

Nemona’s Lycanroc will use the following moves:

  • Accelerock is a physical Rock-type move with 40 Power and 100 Accuracy that has an increased Speed Priority of 1, which allows it to move faster than most moves.
  • Bite

Goomy is a Dragon-type Pokemon which means that it has a weakness to Dragon-type, Fairy-type, and Ice-type moves (super effective) and a resistance to Electric-type, Fire-type, Grass-type, and Water-type moves (not very effective).

Nemona’s Goomy will use the following moves:

  • Dragon Pulse is a special Dragon-type move with 85 Power and 100 Accuracy.
  • Water Pulse

Pawmo is an Electric and Fighting-type Pokemon which means that it has a weakness to Fairy-type, Ground-type, and Psychic-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Bug-type, Dark-type, Electric-type, Rock-type, and Steel-type moves (not very effective).

Nemona’s Pawmi will use the following moves:

  • Arm Thrust is a physical Fighting-type move with 15 Power and 100 Accuracy that will attack consecutively (37.5% chance of hitting twice, 37.5% chance of hitting thrice, 12.5% chance of hitting four times, and 12.5% chance of hitting five times.
  • Spark

Like the last battle, Nemona’s last Pokemon, which she will Terastillize so their moves with the same type as their Tera-Type will be boosted, depends on the player’s starter Pokemon

If the player chooses Sprigatito, Nemona will use Quaquaval, which is a Water and Fighting-type Pokemon with a Water Tera-Type, so it will become a pure Water type that has a weakness to Electric-type and Grass-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Fire-type, Ice-type, Steel-type, and Water-type moves (not very effective).

Nemona’s Quaquaval will use the following moves:

  • Aqua Jet is a physical Water-type move with 40 Power and 100 Accuracy that has an increased Speed priority of 1 that allows it to move faster than most moves.
  • Aqua Step is a physical Water-type move with 80 Power and 100 Accuracy that will also raise the Speed stat of the Pokemon using the move by one stage.

If the player chooses Fuecoco, Nemona will use Meowscarada, which is a Grass and Dark-type Pokemon with a Grass Tera-Type, so it will become a pure Grass-type that has a weakness to Bug-type, Fire-type, Flying-type, Ice-type, and Poison-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Electric-type, Grass-type, Ground-type, and Water-type moves (not very effective).

Nemona’s Meowscarada will use the following moves:

  • Flower Trick, which is a physical Gras-type move with 70 Power and will never miss and will always land a critical hit.
  • Quick Attack

If the player chooses Quaxly, Nemona will use Skeledirge, which is a Fire and Ghost-type Pokemon with a Fire Tera-Type, so it will become a pure Fire-type that has a weakness to Ground-type, Rock-type, and Water-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Bug-type, Fairy-type, Fire-type, Grass-type, Ice-type, and Steel-type moves (not very effective).

Nemona’s Skeledirge will use the following moves:

  • Snarl is a special Dark-type move with 55 Power and 95 Accuracy that also lowers the Special Attack stat of the opposing Pokemon by one stage.
  • Torch Song is a special Fire-type move with 80 Power and 100 Accuracy that will also increase the Special Attack stat of the Pokemon using the move by one stage.

As Nemona’s Pokemon are Level 36 and 37, it is advised that the player use Pokemon that are Level 38 and above with Ground-type and Dragon-type or Fairy-type moves as Ground-type moves will deal super effective damage to Lycanroc and Pawmo, then Dragon-type or Fairy-type moves will deal super effective damage to Goomy. Simply use the player’s chosen starter Pokemon against Nemona’s fourth Pokemon, as their main type moves are always super effective against Nemona’s chosen starter Pokemon.

  • Tera Blast is a special Normal-type move with 80 Power and 100 Accuracy that, when used when the Pokemon using the move is terastallized, the move’s type will change to the Pokemon’s Tera Type, and the move will change to a Physical move if the Pokemon using the move’s Attack stat is higher than its Special Attack stat.
  • Sludge Wave is a special Poison-type move with 95 Power and 100 Accuracy that also has a 10% chance of inflicting Poison on the opposing Pokemon.
  • Dazzling Gleam
  • Earth Power

It is advised that the player use Pokemon that are Level 63 and above with Bug-type and Fighting-type moves, as Bug-type moves are strong against Espathra, Veluza, and Gogoat. Fighting-type moves are strong against Avalugg, Glimmora, and especially Kingambit.

Watch out for Champion Geeta’s Kingambit, as it has an Ability called Supreme Overlord which will boost its Attack and Special Attack stat by 10% for each fainted Pokemon in its party. So, it is recommended to defeat Kingambit as quickly as possible

Nemona’s Lycanroc has a Sand Rush Ability that doubles its speed during a sandstorm.

  • Ice Punch is a physical Ice-type move with 75 Power and 100 Accuracy that also has a 10% to freeze the opposing Pokemon.
  • Double Shock is a physical Electric-type move with 120 Power and 100 Accuracy that will cause the Pokemon using the move to lose its Electric-typing if used by an Electric-type and will fail if used by a Pokemon that is not an Electric-type.
  • Close Combat

Goodra is a Dragon-type Pokemon with a weakness to Dragon-type, Fairy-type, and Ice-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Electric-type, Fire-type, Grass-type, and Water-type moves (not very effective).

Nemona’s Goodra will use the following moves

  • Sludge Bomb
  • Ice Beam
  • Dragon Pulse
  • Muddy Water

If Nemona’s Goodra is hit with a Grass-type move, the Ability Sap Sipper increases Goodra’s Attack stat. Aside from that, Goodra will now be immune to Grass-type moves.

Dudunsparce is a Normal-type Pokemon with a weakness to Fighting-type moves (super effective) and immunity to Ghost-type moves (no effect).

Nemona’s Dudunsparce will use the following moves

  • Coi is a Poison-type status move that increases the Attack, Defense, and Accuracy stat of the Pokemon using the move by one stage.
  • Dragon Rush
  • Hyper Drill

Orthworm is a Steel type Pokemon that has a weakness to Fighting-type, Fire-type, and Ground-type moves (super effective), a resistance to Bug-type, Dragon-type, Fairy-type, Flying-type, Grass-type, Ice-type, Normal-type, Psychic-type, Rock-type, and Steel-type moves (not very effective), and an immunity to Poison-type moves (no effect).

Nemona’s Orthworm will use the following moves

  • Iron Tail is a physical Steel-type move with 100 Power and 75 Accuracy also has a 30% chance of lowering the opposing Pokemon’s Defense stat by one stage.
  • Body Press

When Nemona’s Orthworm is attacked with a Ground-type move, it gains the ability Earth Eater, which causes Ground-type moves to have no effect on Orthworm, and instead of taking damage, it heals 1/4 of its maximum HP.

Like the previous Nemona battles, Nemona’s final Pokemon will depend on the player’s starter Pokemon:

If the player chooses Sprigatito, Nemona will use Quaquaval, a Water and Fighting-type Pokemon, that she will terastallize, which will change it into a pure Water-type because of its Tera-type so it will have a weakness to Electric-type and Grass-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Fire-type, Ice-type, Steel-type, and Water-type moves (not very effective).

Nemona’s Quaquaval will use the following moves:

  • Ice Spinner is a physical Ice-type move with 80 Power and 100 Accuracy, will also destroy the terrain active in the battle, and the move will not fail even if no terrain is active.
  • Brick Break
  • Aqua Step

If the player chooses Fuecoco, Nemona will use Meowscarada, a Grass and Dark-type Pokemon, that she will terastallize, which will change it into a pure Grass-type because of its Tera type, so it will have a weakness to Bug-type, Fire-type, Flying-type, Ice-type, and Poison-type moves (super effective), and resistance to Electric-type, Grass-type, Ground-type, and Water-type moves (not very effective).

Nemona’s Meowscarada will use the following moves

  • Shadow Claw, which is a physical Ghost-type move with 70 Power and 100 Accuracy, also has a 1-stage increased Critical Hit ratio.
  • Play Rough
  • Flower Trick

If the player chooses Quaxly, Nemona will use Skeledirge, a Fire and Ghost-type Pokemon, that she will terastallize, which will change it into a pure Fire-type because of its Tera-type so it will have a weakness to Ground-type, Rock-type, and Water-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Bug-type, Fairy-type, Fire-type, Grass-type, Ice-type, and Steel-type moves (not very effective).

Nemona’s Skeledirge will use the following moves

  • Shadow Ball
  • Torch Song

It is advised that the player’s Pokemon are Level 67 and above with Fighting-type and Fairy-type moves. Fighting-type moves can deal super-effective damage to Lycanroc, Dudunsparce, and Orthworm, and Fairy-type moves can damage Goodra and Pawmot.

The player can simply use the chosen starter Pokemon to deal super effective damage to Nemona’s final Pokemon.

Victory Road Complete!

After defeating Nemona, she will be overjoyed that the player has surpassed her and become the strongest. Then, Nemona will shake hands with the player and thank them for their incredible battle. Everyone in the crowd, including Director Clavell and the Elite Four, will then clap their hands and cheer.

The “Victory Road” questline is now completed! All the player needs to do is finish the “Starfall Street” and “Path of Legends” questlines to get to Area Zero in the Great Crater of Paldea!
