One of the essential things in Baldur’s Gate 3 is lockpicking. There are many locked doors and chests in the game. You can explore different places by opening locked doors, and by opening locked chests, you can get valuable items. Also, at some points in the game, you have to unlock some doors to progress. Therefore, knowing how to unlock doors in Baldur’s Gate 3 will make your progress easier.
Let’s see how to unlock doors in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How To Unlock Doors In Baldur’s Gate 3
In Baldur’s Gate 3, all you need to unlock locked doors is an item called “Thieves’ Tools”. If you do not have this item, you cannot open locked doors. You can find this item in a nearby chest in the early game.
Once you have this item, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Press right-click and select “Add to Hotbar”.
Step 2: Press the short key and click on the door.
It’s that simple. You can now enter through the locked door. However, you may not always be able to open the locked door. So, your chances of opening the door are not 100 percent. In some cases, the unlock attempt fails. In such cases, thieves’ tools used to unlock locks disappear. Therefore, it would be better for you to have multiple thieves’ tools in your inventory.
Also, the percentage of success in your unlocking attempts depends on your character’s “slight of hand” skill, a sub-branch of the “Dexterity” ability. To see your characters’ points in this skill, you have to open the character panel window by pressing the “B” key. Under the “Dexterity” tab in this panel, you can see your characters’ points of “slight of hand”.
Finally, with lockpicking, you can unlock not only doors but also locked chests. Thus, you can increase your characters’ success in battles by obtaining the valuable items in the locked chests.
