Like all of FromSoftware’s titles, enemies are made unique and challenging, offering the player an unrivaled sense of accomplishment after beating a powerful enemy or boss. And Elden Ring is no different.

How to Beat Godskin Noble in Elden Ring

Amidst those challenging Elden Ring bosses is the Godskin Noble, a giant humanoid blob that, despite its size, is terrifyingly agile and nimble. A deceitful boss gives players a false sense of security, thinking that beating it is a breeze. Maybe it is a breeze, but only if you deploy the right strategies.

Godskin Noble Overview

Godskin Noble
The Godskin Noble deals Pierce, Fire, and Standard damage.

The Godskin Noble is a strikingly rotund creature, wielding a long and deadly thrusting sword. The way the Godskin Noble wields and maneuvers its sword is a true testament to its agility and deft touch, despite its rotundness.

Weaknesses: Godskin noble is weak to Frost, Bleed, Sleep, and Slash damage.

Elden Ring Godskin Noble’s Locations: The Godskin Noble can be found in several locations, one of which is part of a different boss fight, where the Godskin Noble appears in spectral form.

The first encounter with the Godskin Noble comes in the spectral form and can be had as part of your boss fight with the Spirit-Caller Snail in Spiritcaller’s Cave.

The second encounter is a standalone encounter with the Godskin Noble in its physical form in the Temple of Eiglay in Volcano Manor.

Here is how to reach the Godskin Noble in the Temple of Eiglay:

From the Volcano Manor Site of Grace, go through the hallway next to it and open the first door on the right.

You must first agree to join the Main Woman sitting next to the Knight to open this door.

Once inside, you will find a corpse in front of a wall. Jump on it to make it disappear, and a new passage will appear to enter the Godskin Noble area.

Is Godskin Noble optional?

Beating the Godskin Noble is not required to advance in the game and is, therefore, optional.

Pre-fight Preparation

Godskin Boss
The Godskin Noble is resistant to Strike, Fire, and Holy damage.

You can not enter an Elden Ring boss fight unprepared. Alterations and adjustments to your loadout and armaments to better suit the boss fight are required if you have any chance of winning.

What level should I be at to beat Godskin Noble?

For the Godskin Noble in Volcano Manor, your character should be at least level 90. If you are yet to reach level 90, go and level up your character, then come back to this boss fight.

Equip a good shield

The boss’s mobility can easily catch you off-guard and make you vulnerable to quick stabs, thrusts, and bashes. Often, that leads to confusion and mistakes when rolling, which carry great consequences.

Having a shield that you can resort to whenever things get too hairy is the perfect trump card. Use the Barricade Shield Ash of War for more stamina, efficiency, and effectiveness.

Ash of War: Barricade Shield is awarded to players after defeating Night’s Cavalry.

Casters should use quick spells.

You must match the Godskin Noble’s quick movement by using equally fast-releasing spells. Our picks for this boss fight are the Glintstone Icerag and Adula’s Moonblade.

Glintstone Icerag can be purchased from Seluvis for 7,500 Runes. Adula’s Moonblade can be obtained after defeating Glintstone Dragon Adula.

You should keep some powerful spells on hand, as you will come across some lengthy openings, albeit limited in numbers, throughout the fight.

We recommend using Comet Azur and Meteorite for this boss fight.

Comet Azur can be obtained from Primeval Sorcerer Azur, sitting near the cliffs northeast of Mt. Gelmir. Meteorite can be obtained after defeating the Onyx Lord in Royal Grave Evergaol.

Equip weapons that exploit the Godskin Noble’s weaknesses

You can take advantage of several weaknesses simply by choosing the right weapons.

As a melee player, you have a choice of Bleed, Frost, and Slash weapons to choose from. Alternatively, you can coat your weapon in Blood Grease or Freezing Grease for the same effect.

You can also use something like Sleep Pots to inflict sleep. Casters can also capitalize on the boss’ weakness to Sleep by using Sleepbone Arrows. Both Sleep Pots and Sleepbone Arrows can be crafted if you have Fevor’s Cookbook [1] and [2].

Summon tanky and aggressive spirit ashes

If you are to use spirit ashes, they must be able to outlive the boss’s attacks and aggro it back.

Spirit ashes can greatly help ranged players, as it will allow them to target the boss while it’s distracted by the spirit ashes.

Black Knife Tiche and Banished Knight Oleg perfectly fit the description and offer great offensive and defensive outlets.

Black Knife Tiche can be obtained as a reward for defeating Alecto, Black Knife Ringleader in Ringleader’s Evergaol at the Moonlight Altar. Banished Knight Oleg can be obtained after defeating the Ulcerated Tree Spirit in Fringefolk Hero’s Grave.

Alternatively, ranged players can opt to summon Mimic Tear Ashes instead, which will summon a spirit with the same armaments as your character.

Mimic Tear Ashes can be found in a chest locked behind an imp statue door in Night’s Sacred Ground.

Casters should bring plenty of FP flasks.

FP flasks will allow you to cast your spells consecutively over a long period for maximum effect if you’re using charged and powerful spells.

Your choices for this boss fight are varied. You can get a normal FP flask, such as the Flask of Crimson Tears, to refill your FP bar or use a flask or item that eliminates FP consumption.

An example of this would be the Cerulean Hidden Tear, which must be used in conjunction with a Wonderous Flask to unlock its effect.

You can collect the Cerulean Hidden Tear after defeating the Ulcerated Tree Spirit.

Fight Strategy

Godskin Noble Boss
Incantation users can use Lightning Spear or Swarm of Flies to inflict blood loss.

Once you traverse the mist and face the Godskin Noble, you must follow a decisive game plan and strategy to get the better of the boss.

Capitalize on lengthy openings

After certain attacks, the Godskin Noble will be stationary for a few seconds, allowing you to mount heavy attacks. These openings will not present themselves too often, so capitalize on them fully.

The two most notable openings come with the recovery from the black flame barrier move and the roll, assuming you successfully evaded it.

Instead of attacking the boss, you could even use the time to heal, refill your FP, or regain your stamina.

Make use of your surroundings.

There are numerous pillars scattered around the boss arena, which can be used as a barrier between yourself and the Godskin Noble.

They’re extremely useful against the boss’ roll attack and flame attacks. You could even use the extra protection for drinking your potions.

Try to keep a pillar between yourself and the Godskin Noble whenever you’re not engaging with it. If you are lucky, the Godskin Noble might get stuck against one of the pillars, making it vulnerable to heavy attacks or charged casts.

At the same time, make sure not to get yourself stuck on one of the arena’s pillars, barriers, and walls.

Maintain constant movement

The Godskin Noble can easily punish you for standing still, even if you are far away from it, as its agility allows it to cut long distances swiftly.

To negate that, you must keep moving at all times. If you are a melee player and keep close to the boss, keep circling it while attacking or holding your shield up.

Seeing as the Godskin Noble continuously charges at the player, there is no need for melee players to actively approach the boss, as it will do that on its own.

If you are a ranged player, on the other hand, keep strafing and moving from side to side while keeping your distance.

Beware of the boss’ melee range attacks.

Should you lurk close to the boss for too long, it will retaliate by performing several close-range attacks—notably, the belly shove and the jumping body slam attack.

Do not be too egregious. Stick to a safe number of attacks before retreating, keep moving, and hold your shield up just in case.

Don’t be greedy

Overeagerness can and likely will be heavily punished by the Godskin Noble, courtesy of its quick attacks, combos, and overall agility.

Should you find yourself in a striking position, keep to a few safe hits, then retreat. If you are a caster using charged or lengthy casts, limit yourself to one or two casts, then retreat.

Failure to back off in time can result in death if you’re not on full HP.

Make use of your shield.

While dodging can be just as effective and allow you to create many striking opportunities, sometimes it is simply too risky.

One of the worst things you can do is panic roll, as it will do you no good and likely place you right in the boss’ path.

Whether you are faced with a daunting combo or an attack you are unfamiliar with, resort to your shield and use it to protect yourself best.

As well as that, it would be smart to hold your shield up whenever you are disengaged and defensive, as you never quite know when an attack might be imminent.

Bait the boss into its two-handed slam attack

This boss fight is remarkably more difficult for melee players than ranged players. That is mostly due to the lack of openings and striking opportunities against the Godskin Noble.

Due to that, players must create their opportunities and windows to deal damage to the Godskin Noble, and one of the easiest ways to do that is baiting the boss into certain heavy attacks that come with lengthy recovery times.

From our experience, the boss’ two-handed slam attack is the easiest to evade and comes with a considerable recovery time, allowing you to deal significant damage to the boss.

Dodge into attacks

While openings are limited, you can still capitalize on the boss’ attack animations, which often start or end with a standstill, allowing you to mount one or two quick attacks.

To place yourself in a striking position during those standstills, you must time your dodge correctly and dodge into the attacks to come out in melee range of the boss.

Generally, dodging into attacks is a good practice that could open up striking windows for you, even when they are not intended.

How can I cheese the Godskin Noble?

There might be some luck involved in cheesing the Godskin Noble in Volcano Manor, but it can be easily achieved with some patience.

You need to approach the mist-blocked entrance to the boss fight and start edging closer to it, bit by bit until the “Traverse the Mist” prompt appears. Click the prompt and enter the arena.

If you are successful, your character should be trapped behind an invisible wall, and the boss should be immobile. Wiggle your way through the invisible barrier and make your way to the defenseless boss.

You can continuously attack the Godskin Noble with no retaliation from the latter.

Rewards

Serpent’s Amnion: A Key Item that can be given to Rya for her questline later on in the game. Once you defeat the Godskin Noble in the Temple of Eiglay, you will receive the following rewards:

  • 50,000 Runes on your first playthrough.
  • Godskin Stitcher: A Heavy Thrusting Sword that can be of great help against any enemies that are weak to thrusting damage.

That now brings us to the conclusion of this guide. We hope the detailed overview of the Godskin Noble and the tips and strategies have assisted you in your fight with the Godskin Noble. We assure you that a calm head and a concise strategy are all you need to make light work of the Godskin Noble.
