Descenders
Available on: PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PC, Linux, MacOS
Initial Release Date: February 9th, 2018
Developed by: RageSquid
The most similar and probably the most intriguing game that is like Riders Republic is definitely Descenders. This game not only will it make you want to mountain bike, but also start living on the edge a bit more, its adrenaline rush becomes addictive.
In Descenders you will mountain bike as fast as possible down mountains, creeks, hills, and everything else that has a slope. The game comes most alive when you build up a lot of speed down a hill.
The experience becomes so mesmerizing and immersive. This games prides on having the best kinetic energy gameplay of all on the market. Since there are a lot of games that are fast and you can go fast in, being exposed on a mountain bike on a hill is far scarier and more breathtaking.
If you’re looking for the experience you get from Riders Republic when riding a bike, Descenders will give you just that. Unfortunately, it isn’t as big as Riders Republic, but it does a lot of things as good as it, if not better.
PIPE by BMX Streets
Available on: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, MacOS
Initial Release Date: December, 2017
Developed by: Mash Games
From the name, you might gather some information about what this game is all about. Even though BMX tricks and riding aren’t much present in Riders Republic, we deemed it important to put this game on this best 5 games like Riders Republic list of its similar skill progression with Riders Republic.
It is dynamic and tasking a lot, and you’ll definitely have to take some time to masters the skills in-game. There are thousands of tricks, and each is equally difficult to do. Not to mention dangerous, which has a lot of emphasis in Riders Republic.
While the world isn’t as dynamic and “free” like in Ubisoft’s title, when playing, you don’t notice the surroundings as much because of how much you actually need to focus to nail a trick or a combo.
Graphics-wise it isn’t anything special, but what it is, is what you might expect from a game released not to long ago, i.e. in 2019. Nevertheless, the main focus of this game is the gameplay and dynamics of it.
Lonely Mountains: Downhill
Available on: PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PC, Linux, MacOS
Initial Release Date: October 23rd, 2019
Developed by: Megagon Industries
This is the point in the list where we move away from games that are really close to Riders Republic. Granted, most in this best 5 games like Riders Republic will still feel as dynamic as it, but they’ll lack the essential aspects of it.
That is the case for Lonely Mountains: Downhill. Even though this game is great is many aspects, for some it might be too basic and cartoony. However, there is no denying that this downhill racer has some great features as well.
What most players took note of when playing this game was how open the stages are. Basically, you can go anywhere you desire, as soon as it is in a direction of your goal, and granted you survive the falls or impacts.
There aren’t any NPCs elements apart from a few butterflies and birds, which means it truly lives up to it “lonely” part of the name. All in all, simple yet extremely fun and engaging. Lastly, there are some grim elements to it, even though it might seem cartoony.
Pro Cycling Manager (Series)
Available on: PC
Initial Release Date: June 4th, 2020 – Pro Cycling Manager 2020
Developed by: Cyanide
For some reason, this game is as eventful if not more than the other ones mentioned in this list. Even though Pro Cycling Manager is a much slower-pace game, there is a lot to it that is exciting and stressful.
People aren’t aware of Pro Cycling Manager, but this game is definitely worth to be mentioned in this list. There is a lot of hard-work and dedication that goes into cycling, and this game captures just that. It captures the spirit and excitement of going against the fastest and best endurance cyclists on the planet.
As the name suggests, this game is all about managing cyclists and winning races. The stages are very similar to what you might see in real-world cycling racing. This game will show you that bicycle racing is the Le Mans of bikes.
For context, you will have a couple of riders that you will need to manage and enter races with. Each decision might be influential, and you must make no mistake, since one could mean a loss. Truly a great game if you’re interested in experiencing the brutal nature of bike racing.
Ride 4
Available on: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Xbox Series X and Series S, PlayStation 5
Initial Release Date: October 5th, 2020
Developed by: Milestone
Ride 4 is a game where your skill will be a determining factor of how well you do. This game is not only challenging, but also stunningly beautiful. Unlike the other mentions on this list, is not bicycle riding, but motorcycle riding.
You might think I’m crazy for suggesting such a game in this list of best five games like Riders Republic, but bear with me. If you want to see what real danger means, then this game will explain the definition of the world to you.
Even when starting out in Ride 4, the tutorial is so brutal that at this point, you’re either hooked on the game, or don’t want to see it. A lot of skill has to be gained in order for you to race against the best riders on the planet.
On top of that, knowledge and understanding of the track and your bike are essential if you want to survive. What I would say about this game is that it is very demanding, and risky. Adrenaline will pump through you when you’re going high-speeds on Ride’s 4 gnarly tracks!
