Learn how to build Leo a house in Stardew Valley!
In Stardew Valley, you experience being in a community where you can do good deeds to improve people’s lives. But there are instances where you have to go the extra mile to improve the living conditions of some of the game’s beloved NPCs.
One of those instances is having the option to build a house for Pam. Another example is when you decide to befriend Leo from Ginger Island and build a new home for him in Stardew Valley.
You should know major story spoilers are ahead for players who have not yet reached this part of the game.
Meeting Leo in Stardew Valley
Leo is a new character included in the Stardew Valley 1.5 update. Leo is a shy boy who unfortunately lost his parents in a shipwreck when he was little. He somehow ended up on Ginger Island, where parrots raised him. He is one of the few NPCs you will meet on Ginger Island.
In the first couple of minutes of setting foot on the island, you can find Leo. Before locating Leo’s house, you must walk to the upper right side of the docks and pass through a jungle full of weeds and some Fiddlehead Ferns. Keep walking until you see stairs leading to his house.
As you enter his house for the first time, you will see Leo standing on top of a ladder and his parrot on a perch. This parrot is very significant in your first encounter with Leo. The reason is that he will not acknowledge you until you give the parrot a Golden Walnut. To converse with Leo further, you must offer 10 Golden Walnuts to the parrot on the southern part of the island. Doing so will remove the humongous turtle that blocks the entrance to the Island Farm.
Before building the boy a proper house in Pelican Town, you need to raise his friendship level to six hearts. It can be made possible by chatting with him regularly and giving him two gifts every week.

Leo’s Brand New House in Stardew Valley
After reaching six hearts of friendship with Leo, he can finally become an official resident of Stardew Valley, but you will have to trigger his heart event first.
To experience his six-heart event, you can head to the docks of Ginger Island between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM when it is not raining. His six-heart cutscene will show Linus and Willy getting off the boat to meet Leo. Linus will convince Leo to leave Ginger Island and come with him to live in Stardew Valley. The little boy will be initially unsure, but upon hearing that other children are living on the mainland, he will become excited at the thought of living there.
Willy will then ask you if you think this is a good idea. Regardless of what dialogue you choose, Leo will still decide by himself. He will agree to get off Ginger Island and settle in Stardew Valley with Linus. Later, you will see another scene where the parrots he considers his family build a new treehouse for Leo beside Linus’ tent.
Apart from witnessing that heartwarming event, you can also get recipes from being friends with Leo. He will send you the recipe for Poi once you attain three friendship hearts with him. You also receive the recipe for Mango Sticky Rice after raising his friendship hearts to seven.
