Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in olden times in the Pokemon world when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set in the Hisui region, modern-day Sinnoh, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every species of Pokémon from the Hisui region to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.

How to Complete the “Octillery’s Ink” Request (Request 53) in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

The Galaxy Team will task the player to do missions in the game. Additionally, various people will also request help from the player. One of these requests is Request 53, titled ‘Octillery’s Ink.’ This guide will teach you how to complete the ‘Octillery’s Ink’ request.

Octillery’s Ink

To unlock this request, the player must first unlock Basculegion as a rideable Pokemon which is part of ‘The Lordless Island’ Mission (the tenth mission in the game). The player must quell a frenzied Hisuian Arcanine. Additionally, the player must also first complete “The Perfect Pickling Stone” Request (the twelfth request of the game), where the player will catch a Geodude for Radisa of Jubilife Village.

After doing the requirements mentioned above, you can now start this request! Head to the northeastern part of Jubilife Village beside the Clothier (near the Front Gate and the Photography Studio), and there you will find Radisa with her Geodude.

Talk to Radisa, and she will thank the player again for helping her last time and wonder if she can ask for the player’s help again. She will tell a story of when she was down by the sea gathering fresh ingredients when suddenly an Octillery popped up and sprayed her with ink. After that, however, Radisa will say that Octillery’s ink actually tasted good and she suddenly became inspired.

She realized that she could use the ink to create pickles that the world had never seen before, but she mentioned that making food out of something that a Pokemon spat out seems risky. So, she will ask the player to tell her if the player learns more about Octillery. Then, just like that, the ‘Octillery’s Ink’ request has started!

To complete this request, all the player has to do is complete the Pokedex entry for Octillery. This can be done by accomplishing Research Tasks. But, first, you have to find some Octillery. Octillery can only be found north of Islespy Shore, which is in the northwest part of the map, and Castaway Shore, which is in the middle of the map, in the Cobalt Coastlands. Octillery can be found in these locations at all times of the day and in every weather condition. The Octillery found in Castaway Shore is a level 46 Alpha Pokemon.

Now that you know where to find some Octillery, the next thing to do is get Octillery’s Pokedex entry to Research Level 10 by accomplishing Research Tasks. You can immediately complete Octillery’s Pokedex entry by catching the Alpha Octillery in Castaway Shore, then using the Alpha Octillery in battle and using its Hyper Beam attack three times and a Strong Style Hydro Pump one time.

This can immediately complete Octillery’s Pokedex entry fast because catching an Octillery raises the Research Level by two. Catching an Alpha Octillery raises the Research Level by two (so catching the Alpha Octillery ticks both of those boxes). The first time the player sees the Octillery use Hydro Pump, it raises the Research Level by one, the first time the player sees the Octillery perform a Strong Style move raises the Research Level by one (so using a Strong Style Hydro Pump ticks both of those boxes too). On the first and third time, the player sees the Octillery use Hyper Beam raises the Research Level by two, which will result in Research Level 10.

After accomplishing enough Research Tasks, head back to the Base Camp and talk to Professor Laventon to update your Pokedex. Then, once you have completed Octillery’s Pokedex entry by getting it to Research Level 10, head back to Radisa and her Geodude, still in the northeastern part of Jubilife Village beside the Clothier, talk to her, and she will check out Octillery’s completed Pokedex entry.

After that, she will be in disbelief that Octillery evolves from Remoraid despite them not looking alike. However, she will also find out that Octillery is not poisonous, so she thinks the ink is safe to eat, which will make her excited to gather up some of Octillery’s ink and try creating lots of new recipes. Then, she will tell the player to come by and taste after she has perfected her pickles. Finally, Radisa will reward the player with five Bean Cake and one Exp. Candy M for your efforts.

Now that you have completed the ‘Octillery’s Ink’ request, you can now try to complete other requests, complete missions, or complete Arceus’ task for you which is to catch ‘em all!
