Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in the old times in the Pokemon world when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set in the land of the Hisui region, known as the Sinnoh region in modern times, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (or just Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every species of Pokémon from the Hisui region to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.

How to Complete the ‘A Peculiar Ponyta’ Request (Request 19) in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

The Galaxy Team will task the player to do missions in the game. Additionally, various people will also ask for help from the player in requests. One of these requests is Request 19, titled ‘A Peculiar Ponyta.’ This guide will teach you how to complete the ‘A Peculiar Ponyta’ request.

A Peculiar Ponyta

Before you can unlock this request, the player must first complete ‘The Frenzy of the Lord of the Woods’ mission (the seventh mission in the game), where the player must quell the Noble Kleavor’s frenzy. Additionally, the player must also first catch a Ponyta.

After that, you can now start this request. To do just that, head on to the Galaxy Hall and proceed to Professor Laventon’s room on the left side of Captain Cyllene’s office. In Professor Laventon’s room, you will find a blackboard just behind Professor Laventon himself. There are a few requests on this blackboard that the player can take on. Read what is on the blackboard, and the prompt, select the ‘A Peculiar Ponyta’ request. And, just like that, the request has started!

After starting the request, go outside the Galaxy Hall and head to the bridge west of Jubilife Village, where you will find a guy dressed in dark gray named Yota. Talk to Yota, and he will tell you about a Ponyta that looks different from the other Ponytas in Horseshoe Plains of the Obsidian Fieldlands. He will then ask the player to catch the strange-looking Ponyta for him and Professor Laventon.

Next, now you have to catch that Ponyta. That “strange-looking” Ponyta is a shiny Ponyta and is the only guaranteed shiny Pokemon in the game. To catch it, head to the Obsidian Fieldlands and go to the Horseshoe Plains (north of the Obsidian Fieldlands). Upon arriving, a cutscene will play, and you will see a Ponyta with blue flames instead of red and yellow. Using food can help to bait and distract it so you can sneak behind it before throwing a Poke Ball to catch it. While it tries to escape your Poke Ball, make sure to hide on the tall grass so that it will not be alerted and run away if it does escape your Poke Ball. However, if the shiny Ponyta manages to run away and disappear, the player would have to go back to Jubilife Village and back to Obsidian Fieldlands to respawn in the same spot.

After catching the shiny Ponyta, head back to Jubilife Village and go back to Yota on the bridge in the west of the village to show him the shiny Ponyta. Talk to him, and he will realize that there might be Pokemon of the same species but with a different color, just like this blue-flamed Ponyta. He will then reward you with five Razz Berries for your efforts.

Now that you have completed the ‘A Peculiar Ponyta’ Request, you can now try to complete other requests, complete missions, or complete Arceus’ task for you, which is to catch ‘em all!
