Square Enix may not be releasing their sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake yet, but we are getting a prequel this month with Crisis Core – Final Fantasy VII – Reunion.

Crisis Core - Final Fantasy VII - Reunion Launch Trailer Dropped Ahead of Release

The game is set to launch in December 13, and we have a new launch trailer hyping up the story of soldier Zack Fair. Watch this:

https://youtu.be/65lCz22aopY

Here’s the official description:

Play as SOLDIER operative Zack Fair and trigger the events that lead up to FINAL FANTASY VII. Engage in fast-paced real-time action combat to uncover the dark secrets of Shinra’s experiments and the monsters they create.

Seeing that the original Crisis Core came out for the handheld PSP, you can imagine that Square has gone leaps and bounds just to update the game to modern-gen standards.

Since this game came out after the original Final Fantasy VII, some could think that this would be spoiling the mainline story of Cloud and his gang, but as some speculate, we could be looking at some kind of altered timeline situation, which means that characters that die in the original could end up surviving this time—or vice-versa.

If anything, Crisis Core should help fans scratch that Final Fantasy itch while they wait for the sequel to Remake. Hopefully we don’t have to wait until half of 2023 until the release. Maybe we can get an update after Crisis Core officially launches.

Crisis Core – Final Fantasy VII – Reunion is set to launch for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4|5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on Dec. 13.
