Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in olden times in the Pokemon world when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set in the Hisui region, modern-day Sinnoh, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every species of Pokémon from the Hisui region to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.

How to Evolve Happiny into Chansey in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

In the game, there are certain Pokemon that the player cannot catch or are hard to catch in the wild. One of the methods to catch these Pokemon is through evolution. One of these Pokemon is Chansey, and in this guide, you will learn how to evolve Happiny into a Chansey!

Happiny to Chansey

Chansey is a Normal type Egg Pokemon with a pink and round body, stubby arms, and a dark pink pouch on the center of its belly with a single white egg inside. Chansey is one of those Pokemon that is a female-only species (Chansey has no male counterpart). According to its Pokedex entry in the game, Chansey is a pure-hearted Pokemon that shares its eggs with the injured. Also, Chansey’s eggs are so nutritious that they have been called “doctors’ doubles.”

Chansey can be found in the Obsidian Fieldlands (around Obsidian Falls), in the Cobalt Coastlands (in Hideaway Bay and Tombolo Walk), and in the Alabaster Icelands (in the Avalanche Slopes). Chansey can be found in these locations at all times of the day and in every weather condition. It is also worth noting that the Chansey that can be found in Tombolo Walk in the Cobalt Coastlands is an Alpha Pokemon. Other than that, Chansey can also be found in Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Cobalt Coastlands.

However, if you would rather obtain a Chansey through evolution, the player can catch one by evolving a Happiny using an Oval Stone during the daytime. To do that, the player must first know where to find a Happiny.

Happiny

The player may find a Happiny in the Obsidian Fieldlands (around the Obsidian Falls and in the Oreburrow Tunnel), in the Cobalt Coastlands (in Hideaway Bay), and in the Alabaster Icelands (in the Avalanche Slopes) Happiny can be found in these locations at all times of the day and in every weather condition. Aside from that, Happiny may also be found in Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Cobalt Coastlands.

If you plan on distracting it with food before catching it, it is worth mentioning that Happiny’s preferred food is Dazzling Honey.

If you plan on battling a Happiny first before catching it, it is worth noting that, as mentioned, Happiny is a Normal type Pokemon which means it has a weakness to Fighting type moves (super effective) and immunity to Ghost-type moves (no effect)

Oval Stone

Now that the player has caught a Happiny, all that is needed to evolve a Happiny to Chansey is an Oval Stone. There are several ways that the player can obtain an Oval Stone:

The player may obtain an Oval Stone after catching or defeating certain Pokemon, specifically Happiny.

Also, Oval Stone can be dug up from treasure buried on the ground by riding the rideable Ursaluna. However, the locations where Ursaluna can dig up an Oval Stone are random.

The player may also obtain an Oval Stone by breaking Tumblestone Ores that are shaking. Breaking these shaking ores, however, will result in a Pokemon like Geodude or Graveler popping out and battling the player.

Other than that, the player may find some Oval Stones on the ground inside of Space-Time Distortions, so check out the items inside them.

Alternatively, the player can purchase an Oval Stone for 5,000 Pokemon Dollars from Ginter at the Gingko Guild Shop between the Galaxy Hall and the player’s headquarters. However, Ginter will call it an Egg-Like Rock. Unfortunately, the items that the Gingko Guild Merchants sell are not the same, so that the purchasable item may vary. To change the items that Ginter is selling, the player must first catch 20 Pokemon.

The player can also purchase an Oval Stone from the Trading Post near the Training Grounds for only 400 Merit Points. The player can earn Merit Points by returning lost satchels all over the Hisui region.

Finally, Chansey!

After catching a Happiny and obtaining an Oval Stone, the player can now evolve a Happiny into a Chansey!

To do that, this is what the player must do:

  1. Put the player’s Happiny in the Player’s party by talking to the Galaxy Member near the tent on any of the Base Camps, selecting “I want to see my Pokemon” on the prompt, or heading to the Pastures in the eastern part of Jubilife Village.
  2. Then, ensure that the Oval Stone is in the player’s Satchel. If not, the player can access the Item Storage in any of the Base Camps or the Item Storage near the Front Gate in the northeastern part of Jubilife City and move the Oval Stone to the player’s Satchel.
  3. After that, make sure that it is daytime. If not, the player can rest by interacting with the tent or the Galaxy Member in any of the Base Camps or by sleeping on the bed in the player’s quarters on the right side of the Ginkgo Guild Shop until morning or midday.
  4. Afterward, return to the game and press the up directional button to open the player’s Satchel.
  5. Select the Oval Stone, select “Use” on the prompt, then select Happiny from the player’s party to use the Oval Stone on Happiny.
  6. Confirm on the prompt to evolve Happiny. Then, just like that, Happiny will evolve into a Chansey!

Now that the player has a Chansey, the player can try to use the Chansey to complete other requests, missions, or Arceus’ task for the player to catch ’em all!
