Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in olden times in the Pokemon world when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set in the Hisui region, modern-day Sinnoh, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every Hisui Region pokemon to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.

How to Evolve Hisuian Growlithe to Hisuian Arcanine in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

The game has certain Pokemon that the player cannot catch in the wild. The player can only obtain these Pokemon through evolution. One of these Pokemon is Hisuian Arcanine, and in this guide, you will learn how to evolve Hisuian Growlithe into a Hisuian Arcanine!

Hisuian Growlithe to Hisuian Arcanine

The Hisuian Arcanine is a Fire and Rock Type Pokemon, and the Hisuian version of Arcanine was introduced in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Compared to the regular Arcanine from the Kanto region, which has a black, tan, and orange color, the Hisuian Arcanine has a reddish coat instead of orange and dark gray instead of tan. Another difference is that the Arcanine from the Kanto region is a pure Fire-type Pokemon. At the same time, as mentioned, the Hisuian Arcanine is both a Fire and Rock type Pokemon, making it extra resistant to Normal and Flying type moves but also weak against Fighting type, especially Water type and Ground-type moves.

As previously mentioned, unfortunately, it is tough for the player to catch a Hisuian Arcanine in the wild as the only way for the player to catch a Hisuian Arcanine is by finding one in Massive Mass Outbreaks, and it is already very rare for a Hisuian Arcanine to appear in one. So, an easier way for the player to catch a Hisuian Arcanine is through evolution. To evolve a Hisuian Growlithe to a Hisuian Arcanine, the player must use a Fire Stone on Hisuian Growlithe. To do that, the player must first know where to find a Growlithe.

Hisuian Growlithe

The player can find a Hisuian Growlithe in the Windbreak Stand and the easternmost part of Veilstone Cape. The player can find a Hisuian Growlithe in these locations at all times of the day and in every weather condition.

If you plan on distracting it with food before catching it, it is worth mentioning that Hisuian Growlithe’s preferred foods are Springy Mushrooms, Hearty Grains, and Plump Beans.

Suppose you plan on battling a Hisuian Growlithe first before catching it. In that case, it is worth noting that, as mentioned, Hisuian Growlithe is a Fire and Rock-type Pokemon, which means it has a weakness in Fighting-type, Rock type, and especially Ground-type and Water-type moves (super effective) and resistance to the Bug-type, Fairy-type, Flying-type, Ice-type, Normal-type, Poison-type, and especially Fire-type moves (not very effective).

Fire Stone

Now that the player has caught a Hisuian Growlithe, all that is needed to evolve a HIsuian Growlithe to a Hisuian Arcanine is a Fire Stone. There are several ways that the player can obtain a Fire Stone:

The player may obtain a Fire Stone by breaking Tumblestone Ores that are shaking. Breaking these shaking ores, however, will result in a Pokemon like Geodude or Graveler popping out and battling the player.

Additionally, the player can purchase a Fire Stone for 5,000 Pokemon Dollars from Ginter at the Gingko Guild Shop between the Galaxy Hall and the player’s headquarters. However, Ginter will call it a Flame-Patterned Rock. Unfortunately, the items the Gingko Guild Merchants sell are not the same, so that the purchasable item may vary. To change the items that Ginter is selling, the player must first catch 20 Pokemon.

The player can purchase a Fire Stone from the Trading Post near the Training Grounds for 1,000 Merit Points. The player can earn Merit Points by returning lost satchels all over the Hisui region.

Other than that, the player may find some Fire Stones on the ground inside of Space-Time Distortions, so check out the items inside them.

Finally, Hisuian Arcanine!

After catching a Hisuian Growlithe and obtaining a Fire Stone, the player can now evolve HIsuian Growlithe into a Hisuian Arcanine!

To do that, this is what the player must do:

  1. Put the player’s Hisuian Growlithe in the Player’s party by talking to the Galaxy Member near the tent on any of the Base Camps and selecting “I want to see my Pokemon” on the prompt, or heading to the Pastures in the eastern part of Jubilife Village.
  2. Then, ensure that the Fire Stone is in the player’s Satchel. If not, the player can access the Item Storage in any of the Base Camps or the Item Storage near the Front Gate in the northeastern part of Jubilife City and move the Fire Stone to the player’s Satchel.
  3. Next, return to the game and press the up directional button to open the player’s Satchel.
  4. Select the Fire Stone, select “Use” on the prompt, then select Hisuian Growlithe from the player’s party to use the Fire Stone on Hisuian Growlithe.
  5. Confirm on the prompt to evolve Hisuian Growlithe. Then, like that, Hisuian Growlithe will evolve into a Hisuian Arcanine!

Now that the player has a Hisuian Arcanine, the player can use the Hisuian Arcanine to complete other requests, commissions, and Arceus’ task for the player; go catch ‘em all!
