Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in olden times in the Pokemon world when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set in Hisui, modern-day Sinnoh, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every Hisui Pokemon species to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.
In the game, there are certain Pokemon that players cannot catch or are hard to see in the wild. One of the methods to catch these Pokemon is through evolution. One of these Pokemon is Honchkrow, and in this guide, you will learn how to evolve Murkrow into a Honchkrow!
Murkrow to Honchkrow
Honchkrow is a Dark and Flying-type Big Boss Pokemon, a dark-blue bird with feathers that looks like a person dressed in formal attire or, specifically, a mob boss. According to its Pokedex entry in the game, a murder of Murkrow will come flying with just one cry from Honchkrow.
Honchkrow can be found in the Crimson Mirelands (in Cloudpool Ridge) and the Cobalt Coastlands (in Bathers’ Lagoon). Honchkrow can be found here in any weather condition. However, Honchkrow can only be found in these locations at night. It is also worth noting it is pretty rare to find a Honchkrow in these areas. Honchkrow can also be found in Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Crimson Mirelands.
However, if you would rather obtain a Honchkrow through evolution, the player can catch one by evolving a Murkrow using a Dusk Stone. To do that, the player must first know where to find a Murkrow.
Murkrow
The player may find a Murkrow in the Crimson Mirelands (in Cloudpool Ridge) and Cobalt Coastlands (in Crossing Slope, Hideaway Bay, Islespy Shore, and Veilstone Cape). Murkrow can be found in these locations in every weather condition. However, it can only be found in these areas during the night.
If you plan on distracting it with food before catching it, it is worth mentioning that Murkrow’s preferred foods are Dazzling Honey, Hearty Grains, and Plump Beans.
If you plan on battling a Murkrow first before catching it, it is worth noting that, as mentioned, Murkrow is a Dark and Flying-type Pokemon which means it has a weakness to Fairy-type, Electric-type, Ice-type, and Rock-type moves (super effective), a resistance to Dark-type, Ghost-type, and Grass-type moves (not very effective), and immunity to Ground-type and Psychic-type moves (no effect)
Dusk Stone
Now that the player has caught a Murkrow, all that is needed to evolve a Murkrow to Honchkrow is a Dusk Stone. There are several ways that the player can obtain a Dusk Stone:
The player may obtain a Dusk Stone by breaking Tumblestone Ores shaking in the Crimson Mirelands. Breaking these shaking ores, however, will result in a Pokemon like Geodude or Graveler popping out and battling the player.
Other than that, the player may find some Dusk Stones on the ground inside of Space-Time Distortions, so check out the items inside them.
Alternatively, the player can purchase a Dusk Stone for 5,000 Pokemon Dollars from Ginter at the Gingko Guild Shop between the Galaxy Hall and the player’s headquarters. However, Ginter will call it a Deep-Dark Rock. Unfortunately, the items the Gingko Guild Merchants sell are not the same, so purchasable items may vary. To change the items that Ginter is selling, the player must first catch 20 Pokemon.
The player can also purchase a Dusk Stone from the Trading Post near the Training Grounds for 1,200 Merit Points. The player can earn Merit Points by returning lost satchels all over the Hisui region.
Finally, Honchkrow!
After catching a Murkrow and obtaining a Dusk Stone, the player can evolve a Murkrow into a Honchkrow!
To do that, this is what the player must do:
- Put the player’s Murkrow in the player’s party by talking to the Galaxy Member near the tent on any of the Base Camps, selecting “I want to see my Pokemon” on the prompt, or heading to the Pastures in the eastern part of Jubilife Village.
- Then, ensure that the Dusk Stone is in the player’s Satchel. If not, the player can access the Item Storage in any of the Base Camps or the Item Storage near the Front Gate in the northeastern part of Jubilife City and move the Dusk Stone to the player’s Satchel.
- Next, return to the game and press the up directional button to open the player’s Satchel.
- Select the Dusk Stone, select “Use” on the prompt, then select Murkrow from the player’s party, too; well, use the Dusk Stone on Murkrow.
- Confirm on the prompt to evolve Murkrow. Then, just like that, Murkrow will evolve into a Honchkrow!
Now that the player has a Honchkrow, the player can try to use the Honchkrow to complete other requests, missions, or Arceus’ task for the player, which is to catch ‘em all!
