Biomutant is nothing short of exceptional. There are no words to describe the game, and even if you aren’t a big action RPG fan, chances are that, Biomutant is appealing to you. There are issues though. Some players might encounter crashes, fatal errors, black screen or stuck on loading. While these aren’t particularly due to underlying issues with the game, we will still showcase on how to fix them!
Fix Crashes, Black Screen, Fatal Error & Stuck on Loading – Biomutant
First off, it is important to start with updating your operating system to the latest version, and your graphics card drivers. For Windows, open up the Start menu and search for ‘Windows Updates’ and hit Enter. Then, click on ‘Check for updates’ and update if necessary.
For updating GPU drivers, right-click the start menu, and go to ‘Device Manager’. Open the Display Adapters dropdown, find your GPU, right-click it and hit ‘Update Driver’ > Search for Drivers Automatically.
Other than that, continue with the other methods below.
Run as Administrator
Find a Biomutant shortcut somewhere or find the main executable file, right-click it, and go to Properties. Then, Compatibility, and select ‘Run this program as an administrator’, and while you’re at it, select ‘Disable Fullscreen optimizations’ as well. Hit Apply and OK!
Try Biomutant, if there are still issues present, try the next method.
Verify Integrity of Game Files
Open Steam and go to your Library. Find Biomutant, right-click it, then, Properties > Local Files tab. From there, hit ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files’. It will take a while depending on whether your install is corrupted or not.
After that, launch Biomutant.
Controlled Folder Access Exception for Biomutant
Open the Start menu and search for ‘Controlled Folder Access’. Once there, click on ‘Allow an app through controlled folder access’, and ‘Yes’ if prompted to confirm.
After that, click ‘Add an allowed app’ and then ‘Browse All Apps’. Find Biomutant and double click it. It should be added as a controlled folder access exception.
ALT + Enter
If you are greeted with a black screen every time you launch Biomutant, then you can try to change the resolution mode from Fullscreen to Windowed or vice versa.
To do this, simply launch Biomutant, and then when the black screen appears, hit ALT + Enter.
Update the Game
Make sure your game is updated to the latest version. Biomutant isn’t a singleplayer game, and you must update it to play it. The verification of files’ integrity should fix this if your game isn’t updated, but for good measure, check whether you’re running the latest version of the game on Steam!
