Learn how to reduce your Wanted Level in GTA 5!
Players can get varying Wanted Levels in GTA 5 by engaging in activities such as entering Fort Zancudo, killing a pedestrian, or doing something silly, such as simply crashing into a traffic light.
Regardless of whether you do these things blatantly in-game, you will be running away from the Los Santos Police Department one way or another to reduce your Wanted Level and evade arrest.
With that in mind, we have listed a few ways to reduce your Wanted Level in GTA 5. Trust us; you will need all the methods listed below to avoid getting Busted in Los Santos.
Ways to Reduce Wanted Level in GTA 5
Simply running as far away as possible from the LSPD won’t cut it, as there are eleven police stations scattered across Los Santos and Blaine County. You can run from the LSPD, but hiding will be a different story.
With that in mind, the methods below should help reduce your Wanted Level by a star or two. And depending on how well you can read the LSPD’s positions on the map, you will be on a clean slate soon enough.
Change Your Look
The Los Santos Police Department will try to chase you based on your complete look rather than your facial profile, so quickly going through your closet and switching clothes will immediately remove one Wanted Level star in-game.
You can only change clothes in one of your Safe Houses since clothing stores will not entertain you if you have wanted stars. Make sure you have a good idea where your Safe Houses are so you can quickly change into less eye-catching attire in a pinch.
Save the Game in Your Safe House
While in the Safe House, you can save your game, which should remove a 2-star Wanted Level instantly.
Run towards the Tunnels
Once you start hitting 3-star Wanted Levels and above, you will have to know where some of the tunnels are in GTA 5, as running or hiding from the cops on foot or by car will become almost impossible due to the presence of the Police Mavericks.
The LSPD will not drive their patrol cars into the railway tunnels and will only follow the player on foot, so take advantage of the tunnel’s cover to lose those Wanted Start quickly.
Hijack a different vehicle
The LSPD will look for the first vehicle you used when you committed a crime or the vehicle they last spotted you in.
With that in mind, switching cars can help confuse the cops, as they will likely be looking for your previous vehicle anyway. Just remember to switch cars away from the line of sight of the police, or they will start chasing after you in your new vehicle.
Call Your Lawyer
We placed this option in dead last because it is the least entertaining yet quickest way to get the LSPD off your tail – cheats.
If you play on the PC, you can knock off Wanted Level stars by punching in the cheat code LAWYERUP (PC) in-game. However, you must remember that the LAWYERUP cheat will only remove one Wanted Level star each time you enter the cheat code, so you need to type in this cheat quickly to remove all your Wanted Level stars completely.
PlayStation players can enter the following cheat codes to reduce their Wanted Level quickly:
R1, R1, Circle, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left
Xbox players will have to bring up their phone in-game and dial this number to decrease their Wanted Level:
1-999-5299-3787 (1-999-LAWYER-UP)
Avoiding Arrest
Being chased by the police is as natural as breathing when playing GTA 5. After all, this is one of the few games where players can live out their illegal fantasies without the risk of being sent to jail in real life.
Getting Busted is a regular occurrence in GTA 5, and the thrill of outrunning and outsmarting the LSPD in GTA 5 is one of the most exciting things about this game.
Knowing where and how you can reduce your Wanted Stars without resorting to cheats is a skill that not many GTA 5 players possess and gives players a very satisfying sense of achievement when completed successfully. You can do just that through the methods shown in this guide.
