Team Cherry’s Metroidvania action-adventure game, Hollow Knight, follows the journey of a nameless warrior called the Knight as he travels through Hallownest, now a kingdom ruined by a supernatural disease. As the Knight journeys through Hallownest, he encounters various characters that will help fully unravel the story in the game.

To fully explore and navigate through Hallownest, the Knight must have the maps for the different areas in the game. The Knight must purchase maps from the humming cartographer Cornifer to obtain them. Cornifer is working on mapping the entirety of Hallownest so he can be found in every area and sell the area’s map to the Knight.

This guide will teach the player to find Cornifer in Crystal Peak!

Crystal Peak

Cornifer’s location in Crystal Peak is inside a room on the left side of the middle part of Crystal Peak.

The Knight will encounter various enemies in Crystal Peak. Still, the Knight will specifically encounter the following enemies on the way to Cornifer: Tiktiks, Vengeflies, a Crawlid, Glimbacks, Husk Miners, and Crystal Crawlers.

Before the Knight can find Cornifer in the area, it is required that the Knight has the Mantis Claw ability, which allows the Knight to cling to walls and jump off of them, and the Desolate Dive spell, which allows the Knight to strike the ground with a concentrated force of Soul.

It is also recommended that the Knight has the Monarch Wings ability, which allows the Knight to perform a double jump in mid-air, or the Mothwing Cloak ability, which allows the Knight to perform a horizontal dash forward. Finding Cornifer in Crystal Peak will be no challenge with this spell and these abilities.

To find Cornifer in Crystal Peak, this is what the Knight must do (this is assuming that this is the Knight’s first time heading to the area):

Starting from the Bench in the Stagway Station in the Forgotten Crossroads, head to the right to exit the area, continue heading right and jump up the platform above, where the Knight will encounter a Tiktik and a Vengefly; continue heading up by jumping up the platforms where the Knight will encounter another Tiktik, a Vengefly, a Crawlid, and another Vengefly separately, then take the exit above on the top of the room.
Next, head to the right, jump up the platforms where the Knight will encounter two more Vengeflies, and then take the exit on the right.
Then, drop down the platforms, continue heading to the right, then take the big exit on the right.
After that, head to the right, jump up the opening above, continue to the right, jump across the gap, continue to the right, ride the elevator up, head to the right, then take the exit.
Next, head to the right, and you will see some ground rumbling. Perform the Desolate Dive spell to strike and break the ground. The Knight has now dropped down to Crystal Peak! Drop down the gap on either the left or the right, then take the exit that leads below.
Then, head to the left, drop down the gap, head to the right, jump across the gap where the Knight will encounter a Glimback, defeat the Glimback (by attacking its face) to pass through and continue to the right until the Knight reaches a conveyor belt that is moving to the right, jump towards the conveyor belt that is moving to the left below on the right, continue to the right, jump up the platform on the right, head to the right where there is another conveyor belt that is moving to the right, drop down the conveyor belt below that is moving to the left, continue heading to the right, jump towards the conveyor belt that is moving to the right below on the right, jump towards the next conveyor belt that is moving to the left on the right, then jump towards the solid platform on the right. It is worth mentioning that there is a Bench inside the next room on the bottom right.
Afterward, head up the shaft using the Mantis Claw ability before the gap with the conveyor belts, head to the left again, and take the exit above.
Next, take the path on either the left, where the Knight will go up a level and encounter a Glimback, then head up the path above in the middle, where the Knight will encounter two Husk Miners and another Glimback that can be reached by using the Mantis Claw ability to cling to the wall on the left to ride the conveyor belt upwards then jump towards the next level, or take the path on the right where the Knight can use the Mantis Claw ability to cling to the wall on the right then jump towards the next level where the Knight will encounter a Husk Miner. Either way, take the path above on the right that leads upwards. It is worth noting that the path on the right requires the Knight to have the Monarch Wings ability or the double jump ability to reach and continue on the path.
After that, head to the left and, using the Mantis Claw ability, cling to the conveyor belt on the wall on the left to ride up, then jump towards the next platform and take the exit above.
The Knight will encounter a bunch of Crystal Crawlers in this next room. Head to the right, then head up by jumping up the platforms while evading the lasers or defeating the Crystal Crawlers. Head to the left, where the Knight will encounter another Husk Miner and take the path above, where there will now be pieces of paper scattered around, which means that Cornifer is nearby.
Next, the Knight will encounter a bunch more Crystal Crawlers. Head up the shaft while evading the lasers of the Crystal Crawlers, head to the right, drop down the gap, head to the right, and head up again while evading the lasers or defeating the Crystal Crawlers. Then, take the exit on the left.
Finally, head to the left, and the Knight will find Cornifer!

Now that the Knight has found Cornifer, the Knight can purchase the Crystal Peak map for only 112 Geo. After that, the Knight can now navigate the Crystal Peak area better!
