Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in the old times in the Pokemon world when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set in the land of the Hisui region (Sinnoh region in the modern era), you’ll join the Galaxy Expedition Team (Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every species of Pokémon from the Hisui region to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.
In the game, the Galaxy Team will task the player to do missions. Additionally, various people will also ask for help from the player in the form of requests. One of these requests is Request 45, titled ‘Shellos of the East and West.’ In this guide, you’ll learn how to complete the ‘Shellos of the East and West’ request.
Shellos of the East and West
To unlock this request, the player must first receive the ‘A New Mission’ mission, which is the ninth mission of the game. After quelling the Lady of the Ridge Liligant’s frenzy, the player must go back to Commander Kamado and report the player’s success. Additionally, the player must also complete the ‘Inspiration from Hippopotas’ request (Request 24) from Anthe at the Clothier in Jubilife Village.
After doing the requirements mentioned above, you can now start this request! Simply go to the Clothier just across the player’s assigned quarters and talk to the merchant in the purple kimono named Anthe. Talk to her, and she will tell you that there’s a Pokemon that she thinks would be the perfect inspiration for some new designs for clothes called Shellos, which have two different forms depending on where they live. She will then tell the player that if she could only compare Shellos’ two forms, she’s sure that she would be filled with inspiration. Anthe will then ask the player to show her the two different forms of Shellos which can be found in the Obsidian Fieldlands and in the Cobalt Coastlands. After that, the ‘Shellos of the East and West’ request will start!
In order to complete this request, all the player has to do is catch both forms of Shellos and show it to Anthe. Now it’s time to find the Shellos!
The first and easiest Shellos the player can catch is the Shellos (West Sea) which has a pink and brown color. It can be found in Sandgem Flats and Ramanas Island in Obsidian Fieldland. You can find Shellos (West Sea) in these locations at all times of day and in every weather condition.
The second form of Shellos the player can catch is the Shellos (East Sea) which has a blue and green color. You can find it on the northeast island of Tranquility Cove and in Seagrass Haven in the Cobalt Coastlands. Shellos (East Sea) can be found in these locations also at all times of day and in every weather condition. It is worth noting that as these locations are islands, the player would be required to unlock Basculegion as a rideable Pokemon to reach these locations.
If you decide to battle the Shellos before catching it, it is also worth mentioning that both forms of Shellos are Water-type Pokemon with a weakness to Electric-type and Grass-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Fire-type, Water-type, Ice-type, and Steel-type moves (not very effective).
If you decide to distract it with food, both forms of Shellos’ preferred foods are Hearty Grains, Springy Mushrooms, and Plump Beans.
After catching the two different forms of Shellos, go back to Anthe, still in the Clothier just across the player’s assigned quarters, and talk to her. When prompted, select ‘About your request…’, and on the following prompt, select the pink one, which is the Shellos (West Sea). After this prompt, select the blue one, which is the Shellos (East Sea). Anthe will then say that it’s charming that the Shellos change things up depending on where they live. She will also realize that the people in Jubilife Village have also journeyed far from where they used to live, and that may be a change in the color of their clothing is what they need, just like the Shellos. Because of this realization and inspiration, Anthe has added new items in her lineup that the player can check out after talking to her!
Now that you have completed the ‘Shellos of the East and West’ Request, you can now try to complete other requests, complete missions, or complete Arceus’ task for you, which is to catch ‘em all!
