When Enkanomiya, the region hidden underneath Watatsumi Island, arrived, a new boss enemy was introduced along with its mysteries. This boss is a pair of large lizard-like creatures, Vishaps, that can manipulate elemental energy.
The Bathysmal Vishap Herd are larger versions of the Bathysmal Vishaps you encounter when exploring Enkanomiya. They will also do different attacks, giving adventurers a bit of a challenge when facing them.
Of course, you need to complete certain quests and fulfill several requirements to unlock and challenge this new enemy. Read on to know more on how to unlock the Bathysmal Vishap Herd.
Elements and Resistance
The Bathysmal Vishap Herd includes a bigger Bolteater Bathysmal Vishap, which uses Electro, and a Rimebiter Bathysmal Vishap, which controls Cryo.
Both have 30% resistance to Physical attacks, and each is also 30% resistant to elements similar to theirs. For all other elements, these large Vishaps have 10% resistance. Thus, except for Physical, Electro, and Cryo, all attacks should be effective against these monsters.
Special Mechanics
When the Elemental Orb attacks of the Vishaps hit your active character, it will drain 30 energy. If that character has less than 30 energy, the remaining amount to be drained will be converted to True Damage, ignoring shields.
With this, it would be better for your team to include characters with high energy recharge rates or those that do not rely too much on Elemental Burst to deal damage.
When one of the Vishaps is defeated, the walls around the arena will be destroyed. The defeated Vishap will then swim under the surrounding water and periodically send three elemental projectiles to support the remaining Vishap.
Attack Moves
Elemental Orbs
Both Vishaps can throw a ball of elemental energy from their mouths to drain your elemental energy or reduce HP.
The Bolteater Bathysmal Vishap will throw an Electro orb while the Rimebiter Bathysmal Vishap will spit out a spiky Cryo ball.
The two enemies will always do a synchronized orb throw at the start of the fight before jumping to the opposite side of the battle area.
Tail Sweep
For this move, the Vishaps will do a front roll and then spin horizontally to do a single 360 degrees whip of its tail. This attack will deal elemental damage based on the Vishap’s element.
A perfect dodge when the horizontal tail sweep is done will save you from taking damage and getting an element-based debuff.
Wall Climb (Bolteater)
The Bolteater Bathysmal Vishap will jump to the opposite side of the arena and climb onto a broken wall throughout the fight.
It will then keep on throwing an Electro Orb towards you as the Rimebiter Vishap makes its attacks.
You need to see when and where the Bolteater jumps and quickly follow it. Destroy the wall that the Vishap is clinging to, fall on the floor, and disable it for several seconds.
Melee Combo (Rimebiter)
The Rimebiter Bathysmal Vishap exclusively performs this combo of two claw slashes and a floor slam.
The monster will do this set of attacks when the Bolteater Bathysmal Vishap is either on one of the broken walls or is already defeated and swimming around firing Electro Missiles.
Elemental Missiles
Both the Bolteater and the Rimebiter Bathysmal Vishaps can shoot elemental projectiles from their tails, and each shot will include three missiles.
These projectiles will deal elemental damage based on their respective elements.
Spike Barrage
The spike barrage is a version of elemental missiles where the Bolteater and the Rimebiter Bathysmal Vishaps will jump to the opposite end of the arena.
Their tails will then join and continuously pump energy into an elemental orb to shoot a barrage of alternating Electro and Cryo projectiles.
This series of attacks can be dodged by running around the Vishaps as they keep shooting.
Spike Field
Both Vishaps will make a move where they will bury their tail to the ground and, in a wide area of effect, elemental spikes will poke out. If you are within the AOE of this move, the spikes will appear where you are standing.
Getting hit by Cryo spikes will slow down the active character’s movements, while the Electro spikes will interrupt any action for a specific interval.
When both Bolteater and Rimebiter Vishaps are still present, only the Rimebiter will make this attack.
It is recommended to defeat the Bolteater Bathysmal Vishap first due to the debuff effect of its Electro spike field. Getting interrupted due to electrocution could waste elemental skills, other attacks, and dodges.
Electro and Cryo Beam
If one of the Vishaps gets defeated, they will jump to the center of the battle area, intertwine their tails and shoot elemental beams as they turn around.
While making this move, the floor below them will also damage anyone standing inside it.
Dropped Items
Aside from artifacts and Mora, you can get a couple of things when you defeat the Bathysmal Vishap Herd.
You can get silvers, shards, chunks, and gemstones of both Vajrada Amethyst and Shivada Jade from the Vishap Herd.
The Dragonheir’s False Fin is a material exclusively obtained from this world boss. This item is used to ascend specific characters to higher ascension levels.
