It can be confusing to many people on for all of the monitor’s specs. Before, there weren’t as much technologies like IPS, hertz, ray-tracing, refresh-rates, and many more.

Is 75hz Monitor Good for Gaming?

Instead, most monitors were all similar and there were only VGA ports around. So, it can be very overwhelming to choose a monitor these days. If you are not a gamer, then I’ll save you the trouble, hertz and refresh-rates won’t matter for you.

Any other regular 60hz monitor will work fine for you. But for the gamers, let’s get into is 75hz monitor enough and good for gaming.

Are Monitors with 75hz Good for Gaming?

Well, as much as I like to go on and on and ramble about things, the answer is quite simple. Yes, 75hz monitors are good for gaming.

I’m going to be completely honest with you, hertz don’t ever that much. I mean, of course, they do make a difference, but it’s more of a luxury than something that would actually impact your gameplay.

It is nice to play on high refresh-rates like 75 and up to 144. At the end of the day though, 60hz will be enough, but if you want the extra oomph and luxury, then upgrading to a 75hz or 144hz is a good idea.

What Do Professional Gaming Pros Think About Refresh-Rates?

Well, most of the feedback is quite mixed. Many of them give different answers, but there is one thing that they all agree on, and that is that you don’t need anything more than 60hz.

Sure, the majority of them agree that higher refresh-rates are good to have, but at the end of the day it doesn’t matter as much.

Monitor and System Compatibility

Let’s say that you are gaming on a more budget-friendly system. Refresh-rates come into play when you go above a certain FPS threshold.

For example, for refresh-rates to start working, you must have above 75 FPS on a game for a 75hz monitor. This is because refresh-rate is actually how many images a monitor can draw in one second.

Furthermore, FPS are frames-per-second, and I’m sure that most of you already knew that, but just to elaborate, this is how many frames the GPU can render in a second.

So, at the end of the day, if you have lower FPS, it doesn’t mean that refresh-rates won’t make a difference, but it will be bottlenecked by the GPU.

Last Words

Well, should you get a 60hz, 75hz, or a 144hz monitor? If you have a pretty good gaming rig, then either a 75 or 144hz monitor would be a good idea.

Also, if you had a bigger budget to spend for a monitor, and you want the extra oomph and beauty, then you should absolutely go for higher hertz monitors.

Good 75hz Monitors:

  • LG 24MP59G
  • Acer Nitro VG240Y
  • Asus VZ249HE
  • BenQ GL2480
  • ViewSonic VX2476-SMHD

However, if you don’t care about that luxury or you have a lower-end gaming rig, then 60hz will work just fine. It will work fine even if you have a beast of a PC, refresh-rates make a difference, but are mostly a preference and not a huge factor.
