Cyberpunk 2077 is so anticipated that it is to be expected that you might see a little misinformation and confusion in the community.
We will get to all the misguided information in a bit, but firstly, the main issue. Can Cyberpunk 2077 be played on a Mac?
Is Cyberpunk 2077 Available On Mac?
Recently, many people got hyped up that Cyberpunk 2077 will be “available” on the Mac. Why double quotes, you might ask? It would be best to share with the community that you can play this game on a Mac, but dot-dot-dot, through GeForce Now.
Unfortunately, Cyberpunk 2077 is unavailable for the Mac in any shape or form except through GeForce Now.
You can imagine how frustrated people got with this misguided information out there.
GeForce Now
For those who are unaware, GeForce Now is a platform or an app, I should say, that gives you the ability to “play” high requirements games on any system out there.
So, for those who do not have powerful machines or the games are unavailable, as is the case with Cyberpunk 2077 on the Mac, they can play it through GeForce Now.
The catch is that the game isn’t running on your system per se, but you only see a stream of it. Technically, the raw gaming power needed to run it is through Nvidia’s servers.
So, to recap. Is Cyberpunk 2077 available on the Mac? No, it isn’t. Can you play Cyberpunk 2077 on the Mac? Maybe through GeForce Now.
There are a lot of issues with these services that most of the community doesn’t like to speak of. The main drawbacks are responsiveness, internet usage, and internet connection.
If you have slightly below the best internet in the world? Forget about playing the game.
Let’s be clear: I’m not saying you “can’t” play the game. I’m saying instead that you can, but what would the experience be like for you?
Even with stable and strong connections, players get some responsiveness delay, as well as stutters. The idea is great, but that’s where I stand. We might see a difference in the future.
For now, players enjoy Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox One, Xbox Series S and X, PS5, PC, and Google Stadia!
