Just like any other The Legend of Zelda game, Link’s health can be determined by how many Heart Containers he has and his stamina can be determined by his stamina wheel. But, unlike the others, you cannot just find Heart Containers and Stamina Vessels anywhere. Here are a few ways to obtain Heart Containers and Stamina Vessels:

Pray to the Goddess

There are various Goddess Statues all throughout Hyrule that give Heart Containers or Stamina Vessels in exchange for Spirit Orbs. Spirit Orbs can be obtained by completing a shrine which can be found all throughout Hyrule.

After getting four Spirit Orbs, talk to a Goddess Statue and she will let you choose a Heart Container or a Stamina Vessel.

There are 20 Goddess Statues all throughout Hyrule but only 14 can be prayed to. These Goddess Statues can be found in:

  • Temple of Time in the Great Plateau
  • Kakariko Village
  • Hateno Village
  • Lurelin Village
  • Zora’s Domain
  • Goron City
  • Rito Village
  • Gerudo Town
  • Korok Forest
  • Tarrey Town
  • Spring of Courage
  • Spring of Wisdom
  • Spring of Power
  • Forgotten Temple (Rona Kachta Shrine)

Beat the Beasts

Link can gain more Heart Containers by defeating the Divine Beasts Vah Ruta (located in the Lanayru Great Spring), Vah Medoh (Tabantha Frontier), Vah Naboris (Gerudo Desert), and Vah Rudania (Death Mountain). Aside from a Heart Container, Link can also obtain Mipha’s Grace by beating Divine Beast Vah Ruta, Revali’s Gale by beating Divine Beast Vah Medoh, Urbosa’s Fury by beating Divine Beast Vah Naboris, and Daruk’s Protection by beating Divine Beast Vah Rudania.

Exchange

Think you need more Hearts than Stamina? Or maybe you need more Stamina than Hearts? You can exchange Heart Containers for Stamina Vessels or vice versa by talking to the Horned Statue located in Hateno Village by the road to Firly Pond.

Link can sell either a Heart Container or a Stamina Vessel and be given 100 Rupees, then exchange for either of them for 120 Rupees. Basically, Link can exchange a Heart Container or Stamina Vessel for only 20 Rupees.

By maxing out Link’s hearts, Link can have a maximum of 30 Heart Containers but only 7 Stamina Vessels. Or, by maxing out Link’s stamina, he can have a maximum of 10 Stamina Vessels (equal to three full stamina wheels) but only 27 Heart Containers.
