One of the Shrines in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the Yah Rin Shrine or A Weighty Decision. The Shrine itself requires Link to manipulate a couple of weighing scales to traverse inside the shrine. This shrine may seem confusing and intimidating, but you will learn how to complete the Yah Rin Shrine, obtain the chest inside, and claim the Spirit Orb in this guide.

Link will be rewarded with Spirit Orbs for completing Shrines. The Spirit Orbs obtained can be exchanged for more Heart Containers or Stamina Vessels. As there are 120 Shrines all over Hyrule, Link can get 120 Spirit Orbs. You get to decide whether you want Link to have more Hearts or more Stamina.

Upon entering the Yah Rin Shrine, you will see a large weighing scale ahead of Link with the left side lowered and a huge metal cube on top. Next to the shrine is a higher platform, the path to continue the shrine. To complete the Yah Rin Shrine, this is what Link must do:

  1. Head to and climb up the lowered side of the weighing scale (the left side). Then, press the up directional button, select the Magnesis Rune ability, press the L button to aim, aim at the huge metal cube, press the A button to activate and bring it to the other side of the weighing scale to lower that side and raise the side that Link is on.
  2. After that, let Link get on the next platform. Then, before continuing on the path, activate the Magnesis Rune ability on the huge metal cube and bring it to the path with Link.
  3. Then, Link will encounter a Guardian Scout. The Guardian Scout will drop its Guardian Sword after defeating it and a few Ancient Screws and Ancient Gears. Defeat the Guardian Scout to continue.
  4. Next, you will see a chest behind some bars at the end of the path. Use the Magnesis Rune ability to pick it up, raise it above the bars, and bring it towards Link. Open the chest to obtain a Royal Broadsword with an Attack Up +12.
  5. On the left side of where you found the chest, there is a closed gate and beside this closed gate is a pressure plate to open it behind some bars similar to the bars that were originally blocking the chest. Activate the Magnesis Rune ability on the huge metal cube or the chest you just opened, raise it above the bars, and drop it on the pressure plate. This will then result in the gate being opened.
  6. After that, continue on the path and bring the chest or the huge metal cube with you.
  7. On this next part of the shrine, you will see two more weighing scales next to each other. The one closest to the wall is currently the same height but does not go down. Then on its left side is a high platform with a chest and on its right side is another platform which is the path to the altar.
  8. Using the Magnesis Rune ability, pick up the previous chest or huge metal cube and put it on the left side of the weighing scale farthest from the wall to lower it. Get up on that side, then pick up the chest or huge metal cube again using the Magnesis Rune ability and put it on the opposite side of the same weighing scale to lower that side and raise the side Link is on.
  9. Next, quickly jump to the left side of the weighing scale closest to the wall. Then, before it is lowered because of Link’s weight, quickly jump to the platform with the chest. Open the chest to obtain an Opal.
  10. After that, drop down from the platform and get on the right side of the weighing scale farthest from the wall, which is now lowered. Then, using the Magnesis Rune ability, pick up the chest or huge metal cube you put on top of it and put it on top of the right side of the weighing scale closest to the wall to lower that side.
  11. Next, pick up the chest or huge metal cube from the right side of the weighing scale closest to the wall and drop it on the top of the left side of the weighing scale farthest from the wall, which will result in that side being lowered and the side that Link is on to be raised.
  12. After that, drop down to the right side of the weighing scale closest to the wall, which is now lowered, then pick up the chest or huge metal cube you put on the left side of the weighing scale farthest from the wall using the Magnesis Rune ability and put it on the left side of the weighing scale closest to the wall. This will result in that side being lowered and Link’s side being raised.
  13. Finally, get on the next platform, continue on the path, go near the altar, talk to the monk, and claim your Spirit Orb!

The Yah Rin Shrine or A Weighty Decision is one of eight shrines in the Faron Tower region. The other shrines are the Muwo Jeem Shrine or A Modest Test of Strength, the Shai Utoh Shrine or the Halt the Tilt, the Shoda Sah Shrine or the Impeccable Timing, the Tawa Jinn Shrine or Tawa Jinn’s Blessing, the Qukah Nata Shrine or Qukah Nata’s Blessing, the Kah Yah Shrine or the Quick Thinking, and the Korgu Chideh Shrine or Korgu Chideh’s Blessing.
