If you’ve got fears about drowning, FREEDIVER: Triton Down Extended Cut is probably not the game for you. But you never know, right? It could be the game that gets you over the fear of drowning in the depths of the ice-cold ocean. Or not…
For the rest of you, the good news is that Archiact has released a brand new version of its critically acclaimed disaster-at-sea VR game, FREEDIVER: Triton Down. It’s out today on the North American PlayStation Stores, and it’ll be available on the European stores from February 27th. If you’re an Oculus Quest owner, you’re also getting this definitive edition, too, if you want to go completely wire-free with your drowning adventure.
FREEDIVER: Triton Down originally released on PCVR back in May 2019 to great reviews from players and critics alike. Now, almost a year later, we’re getting an extended cut which includes some gameplay features and new puzzles and threats, all of which were sadly left on the cutting room floor the first time around.
“No matter how successful a game release may be, the developers will always look back at the great content that was inevitably left on the cutting room floor and make all sorts of sad, wistful noises,” Ken Thain, senior producer on the project, said. “For us, the Extended Cut is a rare opportunity for us to revisit a title loved both by us and our players, building on everything that made the original great while exploring all the wild ideas we couldn’t let go of.”
