Pokemon Scarlet/Violet: Victory Road Final Battle (Nemona) Guide

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is an open-world game in which the player takes on the role of a transferee at a massive school in the Paldea region.

The only one who can choose what to do in the game is the player: disband the evil Team Star, complete the Pokedex by catching them all, discover the mysterious new Titan Pokemon, or defeat all of the Pokemon Gyms, become champion, and become the best like no one ever was!

This guide will teach us how to complete the Victory Road questline. Specifically, how to defeat Nemona herself!

Near the end of the Victory Road questline, the player will take on the Pokemon League and become a Champion in the Paldea region.

Victory Road Final Battle Location

After defeating the Elite Four and Top Champion Geeta in the Pokemon League and becoming a Champion in the Paldea region, Nemona will arrive outside the entrance of the Pokemon League building to meet with the player and Top Champion Geeta.

Nemona will ask the player if the player has become the Champion, so select ‘Yes’ on the prompt, to which Nemona will say that she knew all along as she got word from Top Champion Geeta when the player cleared the Elite Test.

Nemona will then say that she and the player are now equal as they are both Champions, so she will ask the player to be rivals for life.

Select ‘Yes’ on the prompt, and Nemona will say that rivals battle their hearts out, so she will ask the player to battle her.

Top Champion will interject, however, and say that the player’s Champion Assessment has just ended and needs rest and also suggest that Nemona and the player choose a different setting for their first battle as true equals and rivals, like a place that has a special meaning to both Nemona and the player.

Nemona will agree, so that she will ask the player for suggestions. Select ‘Mesagoza’ on the prompt (as Nemona will not agree to the other options), and she will say it is a good choice as it is where they first set their journey.

Finally, after a bit more dialogue, Nemona says she will be waiting at the battle court at the central plaza of Mesagoza and leaving.

Afterward, head to Mesagoza on the southern edge of the Great Crater of Paldea, then head to the central plaza in the middle of the city.

The player can fly to either of the two Pokemon Centers inside the city or even to the Naranja or Uva Academy (depending on the player’s version of the game), as the player has been there before, by selecting it on the player’s map.

Upon arriving in the central plaza of Mesagoza, a cutscene will play where Nemona will ask if the player is ready for a battle between Champions.

A crowd of people, including a few of Poppy, Rika, Larry, and Hassel of the Elite Four, Top Champion Geeta, and Director Clavell, will start to gather around them to watch. After that, a battle against Nemona will commence!

Victory Road Final Battle Against Nemona

Nemona will use six Pokemon, specifically a Level 65 Lycanroc (Midday Form), a Level 65 Goodra, a Level 65 Dudunsparce, a Level 65 Orthworm, a Level 65 Pawmot, and a Pokemon that depends on the player’s starter Pokemon (a Level 66 Meowscarada, Skeledirge, or Quaquaval).

Lycanroc

KmVBpxwAhKIFlBqCI5S9kbjZjz0dAkStXYuJvlUdBDE7zH

With that in mind, it is important to mention that Lycanroc (Midday Form) is a Rock-type Pokemon, which means it has a weakness to Fighting-type, Grass-type, Ground-type, Steel-type, and Water-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Fire-type, Flying-type, Normal-type, and Poison-type moves (not very effective).

Nemona’s Lycanroc (Midday Form) will use the following moves: Accelerock, which is a physical Rock type move with 40 Power and 100 Accuracy that, aside from dealing damage, also has an increased Speed priority of 1 which makes it faster than most moves, Drill Run, which is a physical Ground type move with 80 Power and 95 Accuracy that, aside from dealing damage, also has a 1-stage increased Critical Hit ratio, Stealth Rock, which is a Rock-type status move where rocks will be set on the opposing Pokemon’s area in the battlefield and deal damage to all the opposing Pokemon that will be sent out (the damage amount depends on the opposing Pokemon’s weakness or resistance to Rock-type moves), and Stone Edge, which is a physical Rock type move with 100 Power and 80 Accuracy that, aside from dealing damage, also has a 1-stage increased Critical Hit ratio.

Aside from its moves, Nemona’s Lycanroc has an Ability called Sand Rush, which doubles its Speed during a Sandstorm.

Pawmot is an Electric and Fighting type Pokemon. It is weak (super effective) to Fairy-type, Ground-type, and Psychic-type moves and resistant (not very effective) to the Bug-type, Dark-type, Electric-type, Rock-type, and Steel-type moves.

Nemona’s Pawmot will use the following moves: Ice Punch, which is a physical Ice type move with 75 Power and 100 Accuracy that, aside from dealing damage, also has a 10% to freeze the opposing Pokemon, Close Combat, which is a physical Fighting-type move with 120 Power and 100 Accuracy that, aside from dealing damage, will also lower the Defense and Sp. Defense stat of the Pokemon using the move by one stage, and Double Shock, which is a physical Electric-type move with 120 Power and 100 Accuracy that will cause the Pokemon using the move to lose its Electric-typing if used by an Electric-type and will fail if used by a Pokemon that is not an Electric-type.

Goodra

Goodra is a Dragon-type Pokemon, which means it is weak (super effective) to Dragon-type, Fairy-type, and Ice-type moves and resistant (not very effective) to Electric-type, Fire-type, Grass-type, and Water-type moves.

Nemona’s Goodra will use the following moves: Sludge Bomb, which is a special Poison-type move with 90 Power and 100 Accuracy that, aside from dealing damage, also has a 30% chance of dealing poison to the opposing Pokemon, Ice Beam, which is a special Ice-type move with 90 Power and 100 Accuracy that, aside from dealing damage, also has a 10% chance to freeze the opposing Pokemon, Dragon Pulse, which is a special Dragon-type move with 85 Power and 100 Accuracy, and Muddy Water, which is a special Water-type move with 90 Power and 85 Accuracy that, aside from dealing damage, also has a 30% chance of lowering the opposing Pokemon’s Accuracy by one stage.

Aside from its moves, Nemona’s Goodra has an Ability called Sap Sipper, which increases the Attack stat of the Pokemon using the move by one stage if it is hit with a Grass-type move. Besides, the Pokemon using the move will now be immune to Grass-type moves.

Dudunsparce

Dudunsparce is a Normal-type Pokemon, which means it is weak (super effective) to Fighting-type moves and immune (no effect) to Ghost-type moves.

Nemona’s Dudunsparce will use the following moves: Coil, which is a Poison-type status move that increases the Attack, Defense, and Accuracy stat of the Pokemon using the move by one stage; Dragon Rush, which is a physical Dragon-type move with 100 Power and 75 Accuracy that, in addition to delivering damage, has a 20% chance of making the enemy Pokemon flinch, and Hyper Drill, which is a physical Normal-type move with 100 Power and 100 Accuracy, that aside from dealing damage, breaks through the effects of moves like Protect, Detect, and similar moves.

Orthworm

Orthworm is a Steel-type Pokemon, which means it is weak (super effective) to Fighting-type, Fire-type, and Ground-type moves, resistant (not very effective) to the Bug-type, Dragon-type, Fairy-type, Flying-type, Grass-type, Ice-type, Normal-type, Psychic-type, Rock-type, and Steel-type moves, and immune (no effect) to Poison-type moves.

Nemona’s Orthworm will use the following moves: Body Press, which is a physical Fighting-type move with 80 Power and 100 Accuracy where, instead of the Attack stat, the Defense stat of the Pokemon using the move is used to calculate the amount of damage that will be dealt, and Iron Tail, which is a physical Steel type move with 100 Power and 75 Accuracy that, aside from dealing damage, also has a 30% chance of lowering the opposing Pokemon’s Defense stat by one stage.

Aside from its moves, Nemona’s Orthworm has an Ability called Earth Eater, which will make Ground-type moves no longer have an effect on the Pokemon with the Ability, and, instead of taking damage, it will heal 1/4 of its maximum HP when it is attacked with a Ground type move.

Meowscarada, Skeledirge, or Quaquaval

As mentioned above, Nemona’s final Pokemon will depend on the starter Pokemon that the player chose at the start of the game:

Quaquaval

Suppose the player chooses Sprigatito as a starter Pokemon. In that case, Nemona will use Quaquaval, a Water and Fighting-type Pokemon. Still, as Nemona will terastallize Quaquaval, it which will change into a pure Water-type because of its Tera type, so it will have a weakness to Electric-type and Grass-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Fire-type, Ice-type, Steel-type, and Water-type moves (not very effective).

Nemona’s Quaquaval will use the following moves: Ice Spinner, which is a physical Ice-type move with 80 Power and 100 Accuracy that, aside from dealing damage, will also destroy the terrain active in the battle, and the move will not fail even if there is no terrain active, Brick Break, which is a physical Fighting-type move with 75 Power and 100 Accuracy that, aside from dealing damage, also destroys the protective barriers that are active in the battle, and Aqua-Step, which is a physical Water-type move with 80 Power and 100 Accuracy that, aside from dealing damage, will also increase the Speed stat of the Pokemon using the move by one stage.

Meowscarada

Suppose the player chooses Fuecoco as a starter Pokemon. In that case, Nemona will use Meowscarada, which is a Grass and Dark-type Pokemon, but, as Nemona will terastallize Meowscarada, it which will change into a pure Grass-type because of its Tera type, it is weak (super effective) to the Bug-type, Fire-type, Flying-type, Ice-type, and Poison-type moves, and resistant (not very effective) to Electric-type, Grass type, Ground-type, and Water-type moves.

Nemona’s Meowscarada will use the following moves: Play Rough, which is a physical Fairy-type move with 90 Power and 90 Accuracy that, aside from dealing damage, also has a 10% chance to lower the Attack stat of the opposing Pokemon by one stage, Shadow Claw, which is a physical Ghost-type move with 70 Power and 100 Accuracy that, aside from dealing damage, also has a 1-stage increased Critical Hit ratio, and Flower Trick, which is a physical Grass-type move with 70 Power that, aside from dealing damage, never misses and always lands a critical hit.

Skeledirge

Suppose the player chooses Quaxly as a starter Pokemon. In that case, Nemona will use Skeledirge, which is a Fire and Ghost type Pokemon, but, as Nemona will terastallize Skeledirge, it which will change into a pure Fire type because of its Tera type, so it will have a weakness to Ground-type, Rock-type, and Water-type moves (super effective) and resistance to the Bug-type, Fairy-type, Fire-type, Grass-type, Ice-type, and Steel-type moves (not very effective).

Nemona’s Skeledirge will use the following moves: Shadow Ball, which is a special Ghost-type move with 80 Power and 100 Accuracy that, aside from dealing damage, also has a 20% chance of lowering the Special Defense stat of the opposing Pokemon by one stage, and Torch Song, which is a special Fire-type move with 80 Power and 100 Accuracy that, aside from dealing damage, will also increase the Special Attack stat of the Pokemon using the move by one stage.

Victory Road Final Battle Tips

As Nemona’s Pokemon range from Level 65 to 66, it is recommended that the player’s Pokemon are Level 67 and above to beat Nemona and all her Pokemon easily.

It is recommended that the player’s Pokemon have Fighting-type and Fairy-type moves. Fighting-type moves can effectively damage three of Nemona’s Pokemon, specifically Lycanroc, Dudunsparce, and Orthworm. Fairy-type moves can damage two of Nemona’s Pokemon, Goodra and Pawmot.

Because of that, Pokemon like Gallade can be great against Nemona’s team, as Gallade can use both Fighting and Fairy moves.

As for Nemona’s final Pokemon, the player can just use the chosen starter Pokemon as they can deal super effective damage to Nemona’s chosen final Pokemon.

Victory Road Final Battle Complete!

After defeating Nemona, she will be very happy that the player beat her and has become the strongest. Then, Nemona will thank the player for the incredible battle and shake hands with the player. After that, everyone in the crows will clap their hands and cheer.

After the final battle, the “Victory Road” questline is now complete! The player must complete the “Starfall Street” and the “Path of Legends” quest to head to Area Zero in the Great Crater of Paldea!
