Hollow Knight, a Metroidvania action-adventure game developed by Team Cherry, recounts the adventures of a nameless warrior known as the Knight as they journey across Hallownest, a ruined kingdom due to a strange infection. The Knight can earn new items, abilities, spells, and charms as the Knight travels around Hallownest, allowing the Knight to explore different places and battle enemies.
Vessel Fragments are an example of these items in the game. These Vessel Fragments are Soul Vessel pieces required to raise the Knight’s maximum Soul by 33. To complete one Soul Vessel, the Knight must collect three Vessel Fragments, which adds 33 to the Knight’s Soul Meter.

Soul can be obtained by hitting foes with the Nail, while Soul for Soul Vessels can be obtained at a decreased rate of only 6 Soul. However, equipping Charms such as the Soul Catcher and Soul Eater charms can speed up the rate at which Soul is obtained for Soul Vessels.
When the main Soul Meter runs out of space, the Soul stored on the Soul Vessels will immediately fill it up after a short delay.
The game has nine Vessel Fragments, which implies that the Knight can have three more Soul Vessels, thus doubling the quantity of Soul that the Knight can carry.

Forgotten Crossroads Vessel Fragment in Hollow Knight
The Vessel Fragment in the Forgotten Crossroads can be found in the bottom left corner of a room near the southernmost part of the Forgotten Crossroads. Before the Knight can obtain this Vessel Fragment, the Knight must first reach the City of Tears.

There are many enemies in the Forgotten Crossroads and City of Tears area, but the Knight will only encounter the following enemies: Husk Bullies, Husk Hornheads, and Leaping Husks.
Fortunately, the Knight will not need any abilities or spells to obtain the Vessel Fragment in the Forgotten Crossroads.
To obtain the Vessel Fragment in the Forgotten Crossroads in Hollow Knight, the Knight must do the following:
- Starting from the Bench in the City Storerooms Stag Station in the northwesternmost part of the City of Tears, head to the left to exit the room. Continue heading to the left and drop down the gap on the left to land on a slightly elevated platform. Drop down the gap on the left to land on the floor of the room.
- Next, head to the left and jump across the downward exit. Jump up the slightly elevated platform on the left and jump up the platform on the left.
- Continue heading to the left and drop down the gap where the Knight will run into three Husk Bullies. Jump towards the platform above on the left, continue heading to the left, and take the exit.
- Then, head to the left, and inspect the toll machine with a lift symbol. Select ‘Yes’ on the prompt to insert 150 Geo. Then a large elevator will come down from above. Enter the elevator and strike the lever to ride the elevator upwards.
- After that, the Knight is now back in the Forgotten Crossroads! Head to the left, take the exit, and continue heading to the left. Jump up the slightly elevated platform and jump up another slightly elevated platform.
- The Knight will find a Leaping Husk, jump up another slightly elevated platform, and continue heading to the left. There the Knight will run into a Husk Bully and a Husk Hornhead. You will find another Husk Hornhead just across the narrow gap.
- Next, drop down the very narrow shaft with spikes on both walls. Land on a platform where the Knight will run into three Husk Bullies and a Husk Hornhead. Head to the left and jump up the slightly elevated platform.
- Drop down the gap on the left, and continue to the left. There the Knight runs into another Husk Bully and another Leaping Husk.
- Finally, continue heading to the left, where the Knight will find a Vessel Fragment floating above a pedestal. The Knight can now jump toward the Vessel Fragment to acquire it!
To leave this area, head back to the right, jump up the slightly elevated platform, continue to the right, drop down the gap, and continue to the right, where the Knight will find wooden barriers holding up the wall.
Strike the wooden barriers several times to break them and open a path above. Then jump up the newly-revealed path, head to the right, and exit the room.
With this Vessel Fragment in hand, the Knight only needs two more to complete a Soul Vessel and raise the amount of Souls the Knight can carry!
