We know that Ubisoft has been leaning in on the open-world RPGs with the Assassin’s Creed games, so when it was announced that the studio was going to make a Star Wars title, everyone immediately thought it was going to be massive.
According to Insider-Gaming, the upcoming Star Wars game from Ubisoft is said to be a ‘seamless universe, akin to that found in No Man’s Sky. In the game, players will be able to jump between systems, immersing themselves in a vast galaxy bursting at the seams with activities.’
The site also says that players will be able to access a fully customizable character and undergo a length in-depth campaign—should be perfect for anyone looking to get completel lost in a galaxy far far away.
Though we do have these details about the game, there is still a lot to find out about the title. For one, we don’t know what era of Star Wars the game is going to take place in. While the Original Trilogy era is pretty well-established with lots of places to go, true freedom in the story usually takes place far from established canon—that’s why the Old Republic games were so popular.
Personally, I would love to explore more of the Sequel Trilogy with the First Order and the Resistance, but I think Disney is pretty much protective of where that story is going to go—that’s why they’re kind of sitting on the property until they find a decision forward.
In the meantime, it’s been teased that Ubisoft’s Star Wars game is going to be announced sometime this year. Hopefully we don’t have to wait too long.
