Octopath Traveller had released back in 2018, and a lot of gamers had fallen in love with the game’s unique ode to classic RPGs. Now Square Enix is set to release the sequel with Octopath Traveller II, and we have a new gameplay overview that reveals you don’t have to play the original to get into this sequel.

Watch Gameplay Overview for Octopath Traveller II

Watch this:

Just like the first game, the sequel will present us with eight new protagonists that each have a name that also spells out OCTOPATH (namely Osvald, Castti, Temenos, Ochette, Partitio, Agnea, Throne, and Hikaru) . With the first game criticized for not having a connected enough story between protagonists, hopefully this sequel will give us a more streamlined story.

The game also promises to bring back the unique gameplay system that the first one introduced, but hopefully we don’t have to do as much grinding as before.

For more information on the game, you can check out the official site here.

Here’s the official description for the game:

The story takes place in Solistia, a land comprising an eastern and western continent divided by the sea. It is a bustling era, wherein large vessels navigate busy sea routes and the power of steam gives birth to new technologies. Some people thrill to glamorous stars of the stage and industry, while others are brought to tears by war, plague, and poverty. In this faraway realm, eight travelers hailing from different regions venture forth for their own reasons. Step into their shoes and explore the land as you see fit.

Octopath Traveller II is set to release on Feb. 24 or PC, PlayStation 4|5, and the Nintendo Switch.
