Learn about the world of Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet, including different features of the new open-world experience, Pokémon and Trainers you’ll meet, and more!

Though it’s been a while since we’ve had a look at the starter Pokemon, we’ve only been getting bits and pieces of the other kinds of Pokemon we’ll run into in the game. Though there are a bunch of new kinds of creatures like Lechonk, the Paldea region also offers different versions of classic Pokemon that have evolved differently thanks to the unique locations of the region.

The newest mechanic in the game is also called Terastallization, which has Pokemon taking on a crystalized form that can enchance their attacks depending on their element. I’ll admit, it looks a tad goofy looking at a Pokemon wearing a chandelier on its head, but if the gameplay mechanic works, I’m not complaining. After all, this is the franchise that has fans going crazy over ‘shiny’ versions of characters.

Besides battle, there are all these other activities to do in the game. If cosmetics are your thing, you can take pictures with your Pokemon and customize your avatar. There’s even a picnic feature where you have to construct a perfect sandwich that will enhance your Pokemons’ stats in battle.

For more specifics, you can check out the video here.

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet launches for the Nintendo Switch on Nov. 18.
