Netflix has just launched their Resident Evil series, and while some were expecting a whole new take on the franchise, it seems that the streaming platform just further leaned into the campy nature of the movies.

This Resident Evil Illusion Billboard will Scare the Pants Off You

Just in, there’s a new illusion billboard promoting the movie in Times Square, and it may as well have you jumping out of the way if you didn’t know it was some visual trickery. Check this out:

I have to say, Star Wars was already pretty impressive with their illusion scenes for The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi, but this one actually goes all in with the story that a monster has broken out of containment and is going to rampage around the city.

Resident Evil as a franchise has very different identities when it comes to games and television. While fans of the game take the story a bit more seriously, the films feel like they’ve fully embraced the camp nature of the genre. While the critics may be harsh, I’m sure that there are some fans out there who will see the new RE as something right up their alley.

The story takes place over two timelines. The first of which involves 14-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker moving to New Raccoon City. They come to realize that their father may be concealing dark secrets that could destroy the world. The second timeline takes place over a decade in the future, where only 15 million humans remain, with over 6 billion animals and people being infected with the T-virus. It follows Jade, now thirty, in her efforts to survive in this world.
