The Twisted Metal franchise has been mostly dormant when it comes to games, but Peacock is looking to remedy that with an upcoming series adaptation.
What’s news is, Michael Jonathan Smith, who is the showrunner for the Twisted Metal series, has confirmed that filming has already wrapped, and we could be seeing our first look at the murder-car series soon.
Here’s Smith’s announcement:
Smith also writes, “The cast and crew of Twisted Metal was something special. Even with lightning delays, extreme heat, and cars that wouldn’t do as they’re told, everyone worked as hard as they could to make sure Twisted Metal kicked as much as possible.”
We don’t have a look at the series yet, but we should expect some kind of Mad Max-esque visuals with some crazy cars loaded with all kinds of weapons.
Here’s the series description:
Follows a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
Anthony Mackie (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) has been cast as the series lead, but we do have some other stars including Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Thomas Haden Church (Spider-Man: No Way Home). I think it’s also great that they managed to cast Will Arnett (BoJack Horseman) as the series mascot Sweet Tooth who rides an ice cream truck with a flaming clown head on the top.
No release date has been set for Twisted Metal, but the series is expected to premiere on Peacock. Fingers crossed we get our first teaser soon.
