GTA 5 gives players three different endings to choose from.

GTA 5: How to Play All Endings

GTA 5 is one of the more unique entries in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, featuring not one but three protagonists that players can play individually throughout the game.

While the story mainly revolves around Michael rectifying the mistakes he made back in North Yankton, Franklin is arguably the game’s most important character and ultimately decides what happens at the end of the game.

In this guide, we have outlined everything you need to know about GTA 5’s endings, including how you can play all three before deciding which one you want to keep at the end of the game.

How many endings are there in GTA 5?

There are three different endings in GTA 5 – Option A (Something Sensible), Option B (The Time’s Come), and Option C (The Third Way)

After the events of Lamar Down, Franklin bumps into Steve Haines and Dave Norton in Strawberry. Both men task Franklin with killing Trevor, believing him to be a great liability to Michael and everyone involved in their underhand dealings with the FIB.

A while after Franklin and the crew complete The Big Score, Devin Weston visits Franklin and task him to kill Michael. At this point, the player will choose to kill Trevor or Michael. However, a third option will also be made available – Option C (The Third Way)

Option A will unlock something Sensible, while Option B will unlock the mission called The Time’s Come. Picking one or the other will cause the player to kill Trevor or Michael, rendering the other unplayable for the rest of the game.

Option C is the cannon ending for GTA 5, where all three protagonists team up for one last time to deal with their enemies in a mission called The Third Way.

Which is the best ending in GTA 5?

The Third Way is the canon ending for GTA 5 and is probably the most popular pick since players can retain access to all three protagonists after completing GTA 5’s story mode.

Option A will end with Trevor dead, which will cause players to lose access to Trevor, plus all in-game activities and missions tied to the character.

Meanwhile, Option B will end with Michael dead, which means you will lose access to any missions and activities specific to the character.

Depending on how players felt about Michael or Trevor throughout their GTA 5 playthrough, they might end up killing one or the other by picking Option A or Option B.

With that said, there is a way to play all three endings without giving up access to Michael or Trevor.

How to Play All Three Endings

You can replay all three endings through the mission replay option in GTA 5. To do this, you just need to go into the pause menu, then navigate to Game > Replay Mission > Scroll down to the bottom to find Something Sensible, The Time’s Come, and The Third Way.

If you want to play it safe, you can create a separate save file on a different save slot after completing The Big Score. This way, you can try Options A, B, and C before settling for the ending you want at the end of the game.

As mentioned, Option C is the only way to retain access to all three characters at the end of GTA 5’s story mode, making it the obvious choice for many players. Rockstar Games has officially confirmed Option C as the canon ending for GTA 5.

FIN

Topping GTA 5’s success will be a tall order for Rockstar games as GTA 5 has become not only Rockstar’s most successful game but one of the most successful games of all time.

Relive the game’s memorable trio and all their adventures in GTA 5’s story mode through the replay mission feature.
