It’s been almost a year since EA announced they were making an Iron Man game, but we’ve yet to get any updates on the project.
What’s interesting is, Gotham Knights writer Ashley Cooper has announced on her Twitter that she has joined the Iron Man project as Senior Writer. Her post reads:
I grew up loving superheroes. My earliest writing was making my own comics in elementary school and high school.
If you told 12 year-old me that this is what I’d be doing professionally, she’d lose it.
Thrilled to announce I’ve joined EA Motive as a Senior Writer on Iron Man!
Admittedly, Gotham Knights wasn’t the best-received game when it came out, but a lot of the gripes for that title didn’t really have much to say about the story, but rather the poor execution of the gameplay.
We don’t know what we can expect from EA Motive’s Iron Man game, but I think it’s safe to think that they would be starting a completely new canon instead of following any established storyline in the comics or films.
With Motive responsible for titles like Star Wars: Squadrons and the Dead Space remake, I think we can expect the game to have Iron Man flying around as he showcases an arsenal of weapons. We can probably also expect him to have multiple versions of armor, which is probably the game’s way of milking more money from players.
So far, Motive Studio has been doing some fantastic work with their games, and I have no doubt that their Iron Man game is going to look fantastic. Let’s just hope it manages to get a better launch compared to the Avengers: A-Day game.
No release date has been announced for the Iron Man game, but fans are expecting it to be a completely new-gen experience (not unlike the upcoming Spider-Man game).
