January is now a month away, which means that we’re getting closer to the release of Craig Mazin’s The Last of Us series on HBO Max. Just in, we have a new trailer for the series, and it showcases a lot of familiar characters and significant moments from the game.
Check this out:
Here’s the series description:
20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed, Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal heartbreaking journey as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.
Though we’ve seen a lot of Joel and Ellie in the marketing, the trailer gives us a look at other characters in the series including Bill, Marlene, Sam, and Henry. We even get Ellie’s best friend Riley from The Last of Us DLC Left Behind.
We don’t know how much of the first season will include moments from the first game, but I have a feeling that they’re going to be cutting the story short to save content for the next season. The storyline with David is pretty essential in TLOU, but so far, no actor has been announced for the part, and you would think they would want to cast someone recognizable as David.
While there is a hint of David’s group in the trailer, I think this is a red herring to save him to Season 2. Then again, I’m just guessing at this point.
Catch The Last of Us on HBO Max when it premieres next year on Jan. 15.
