The Comic-Con weekend came with a lot of great reveals, and we got the first trailer for the Dungeons & Dragons adaptation starring Chris Pine.
Watch the trailer for D&D: Honor Among Thieves:
Though Dungeons & Dragons is pretty self-serious when it comes to the lore and the world, the movie looks to be embracing the community that plays the game. Though the fantasy rules still look solid, the characters interact with a modern flair that’s pretty much the same tone as Amazon’s The Legend of Vox Machina—expect I think this movie is going to be a bit more on the family-friendly side.
Despite some of the more comedic moments in the film, the movie looks to have a lot of nods to the original tabletop game. Besides Pine listing down the skillset of the characters he needs for his party, I’m sure there are fans that will recognize the chest that is secretly a monster that springs to life when you attempt to open it.
If Stranger Things wasn’t enough to get people to try out D&D, maybe Honor Among Thieves would be a great jumping-off point.
A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers undertake an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves brings the rich world and playful spirit of the legendary roleplaying game to the big screen in a hilarious and action-packed adventure.
Catch Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves when it comes out March 2023.
