Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in olden times in the Pokemon world when it was rare to find harmony between people and Pokemon. Set in the Hisui region, modern-day Sinnoh, you will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (Galaxy Team for short) as a member of the Survey Corps stationed in Jubilife Village. You will be tasked to meet every Hisui Pokemon Species to complete the region’s first-ever Pokédex.
The Galaxy Team will task the player to do missions in the game. Various people will also ask for help from the player in the form of requests. Two of these requests are Request 101, titled the ‘Massive Mass Outbreak in the Icelands’ and Request 102, titled ‘Daybreak.’ This guide will teach you how to complete the ‘Massive Mass Outbreak in the Icelands’ request and the ‘Daybreak’ request.
Massive Mass Outbreak in the Icelands
To unlock this request, the player must first complete the ‘Massive Mass Outbreak in the Highlands’ Request, which is the 100th request in the game where the player must investigate the Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Coronet Highlands as a request from Mai of the Diamond Clan. This request is also part of the Daybreak DLC.
After doing the requirements mentioned above, you can now start this request! To do that, head on to the Front Gate, which is on the northeastern part of Jubilife Village, and there the player will find Mai of the Diamond Clan and her Munchlax. Talk to Mai, and she will tell the player that the last research item is to look into the massive mass outbreaks in the Alabaster Icelands. Then, the ‘Massive Mass Outbreak in the Icelands’ Request started!
After that, Mai will ask if the player is ready to start the investigation and head to the Alabaster Icelands. Confirm on the prompt, and the player, Mai, and her Munchlax will head to the Snowfields Camp in the Alabaster Icelands. Upon arriving in the area, Mai will say that the cold here seems to cut right through, then Lian of the Pearl Clan and Melli of the Diamond Clan will appear and stare each other down.
Lian will say that he came to advise Mai and the player that the massive mass outbreaks seen in the Alabaster Icelands seem slightly different than the others. Melli will then follow up that the attacks happen during rainstorms in other areas, but in this area, it appears that the outbreaks occur during blizzards. Mai will then say that maybe it could just be the cold environment, but she wonders if there is more to it.
After that, Mai will tell the player that perhaps they should look into more outbreak locations than usual this time, which she knows is a lot to ask at this point. Lian will then say that even for someone with the player’s skill, it would take a long time to check many areas alone, so Melli will say that it is great that they are here to help.
After thanking them for the prompt, Mai will tell Lian and Melli not to overstrain themselves as this is their first time investigating the massive mass outbreaks. With Lian and Melli’s help, the player would need to study only three of the enormous mass outbreaks (the same as usual).
To complete this request, the player must catch and defeat all the Pokemon from three massive mass outbreaks in the Alabaster Icelands.
The player must catch or defeat all the Pokemon in one of the massive mass outbreaks for it to be considered that it has been investigated, and this must be done before the outbreak disappears. The player can give Mai’s Munchlax five Aguav Berries by talking to Mai to find out what Pokemon are appearing at each massive mass outbreak while they are ongoing.
The player’s map will not initially show the Pokemon appearing in the massive mass outbreaks unless the player goes to it or Munchlax is fed with Aguav Berries. The Pokemon icons with a sparkling mark on the top left mean that it is a unique mass outbreak, while Pokemon icons with an orange berry mark mean that the player may receive Aguav Berries in that mass outbreak. It is also worth noting that additional Pokemon may appear after the player completes the investigation.
As the massive mass outbreaks will only appear when there is a blizzard and will disappear after some time, it is recommended to try out the three massive mass outbreaks nearest to the Snowfields Camp unless there are Pokemon in the enormous mass outbreaks that you want to catch.
Once the massive mass outbreak ends, the player must wait for a new one. The player can restart the map several times until a recent massive mass outbreak appears by returning to Jubilife Village and heading back to the Alabaster Icelands. Once the massive mass outbreaks are back, the map will again not show the Pokemon appearing in the vast mass outbreaks unless the player goes to it or Munchlax is fed with Aguav Berries.
After catching or defeating all the Pokemon from three Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Alabaster Icelands, head back to Mai, still with her Munchlax, near any of the Base Camps in the Alabaster Icelands, and talk to her. Adaman and Irida will appear and say that Lian and Melli are almost done with the areas they were charged with. Mai will then say that it seems like they are done here and that they have worked tirelessly to investigate all across the Hisui region.
However, they still do not know what causes the massive mass outbreaks, which is dangerous to anyone without a strong partner Pokemon at their side. Adaman will then say it would be nice if the outbreaks did not endanger anyone, but things rarely work out that easily. Irida will then follow up that maybe the outbreaks are someone’s way of telling them they must understand the Pokemon around the Hisui region better.
Finally, the player will be rewarded with 30 Iron Chunks, 20 Caster Ferns, and 20 Balls of Mud for your efforts. The ‘Massive Mass Outbreak in the Icelands’ Request is now completed!
Next, the ‘Daybreak’ request is immediately unlocked and started!
Adaman, Irida, the player, Mai, and her Munchlax will leave and head to the Obsidian Fieldlands, where the sun is starting to set. Adaman will ask what the player thinks of the view, then, after selecting an answer on the prompt, Irida will say that this area was given to them by the mighty Palkia and the fleeting time was given to them by the mighty Dialga. Mai will then say that the beautiful view is only possible because they have both together.
Mai will ask if the player enjoyed surveying the land again, then, after selecting an answer on the prompt, she will say she enjoyed it too. After a bit of dialogue, Irida will say that she has spread the word that the people of Hisui should be alert for massive mass outbreaks during rainstorms. Adaman will thank her and say that hopefully, no one will wander into an outbreak unprepared.
Mai will then ask how the player thinks the future people of Hisui will live with Pokemon; then, after selecting an answer on the prompt, Irida, Mai, and Adaman will be confused as to why the player thinks that and find it peculiar and exciting. Adaman will then start reflecting and say that it seems like their lives will keep changing, and they will have to keep adapting just as fast. Irida will also remember that they are lucky to have been born into such fascinating and fast-changing times.
Adaman will then agree and say that change is not always good, and there will always be people who do not want change at all, but that is just how life works, and they will have to work hard and push on. He will then say that he is glad that they have the player with them as they do it and thank the player for everything.
After a bit more dialogue, Mai will say that they may have finished their investigations for now, but they will continue to help the player however they can. She will continue that maybe the new outbreaks are just a gift from almighty Sinnoh, which is a gift meant for the player for all the good changes the player has brought to them in Hisui.
After that, the ‘Daybreak’ Request is completed, and the player will be rewarded with one Dawn Stone, one Seed of Mastery, and three Exp. Candy XL!
Once the player is back in Jubilife Village, Ingo will ask the player to follow him to the training grounds. Upon arriving, Commander Kamado and Captain Zisu will also be there. Commander Kamado will tell the player that he wishes to have the player try a new form of Pokemon Battle. He will say that some in the village enjoy battling with Pokemon, and more and more of them now see Pokemon as allies thanks to the player, and that is why he would like the player to continue further the player’s trailblazing.
He believes that participating in a new battle form will help deepen their understanding of Pokemon. He believes that the player can sense what the player’s partner Pokemon desires amid a tough battle and what the player’s opponent is thinking. Commander Kamado will then say this is quite a problematic request, but he is sure the player is up to the challenge.
Then, he will end by saying that the player may ask Ingo for a more detailed explanation. Ingo will ask the player to let him know when the player is ready to try the new battles. The player can try out different battling forms by talking to Ingo near Captain Zisu!
Now that you have completed the ‘Massive Mass Outbreak in the Icelands’ Request and the ‘Daybreak’ Request, you can try to meet other requests, missions, or Arceus’ task for you, which is to catch ‘em all!
