Lost Ark is an extremely popular MMORPG first released in South Korea in December 2019.
A ton of MMORPG fans have been waiting for this fantastic Diablo-like game’s release since it was announced in 2013. However, European and US fans don’t have to wait any longer because Lost Ark is out now on Steam.
Unfortunately, players from other regions still need an official release date. Players in areas such as Asia can’t play the game from Steam since Lost Ark is currently unavailable on the said platform due to the lack of official game servers.
The good news is that a quick workaround will let region-restricted players play the game on official US and EU servers using an easy bypass method. Read on to find out what this workaround is.
Finding the Ark
The years of hype and wait the community endured are now evident; Lost Ark has become one of the most-played games in Steam history, with over 1.3 million active players in the past week.
Despite beating mainstay Steam-chart toppers such as Dota2 and CSGO in sheer peak player numbers, it might be too early to say just how popular the Diablo-esque MMORPG will be in a few months, let alone a few years. However, no one can deny that the milestone Lost Ark achieved in such a short period is impressive.
How to Download Lost Ark on Steam
Your frustration is understandable if you’re one of the unlucky ones stuck in a region with no direct access to Lost Ark.
You won’t have to wait any longer, buddy. Here’s what you need to do:
- Download/Use a VPN and set it up for US Servers
- Create a new Steam Account for US Servers
Download/Setup a VPN for US Servers
A Virtual Private Network or VPN is an app or service that changes/hides your IP Address from others on the web.
One of the valuable features of a VPN service is its ability to bypass regional restrictions based on IP Addresses.
With this in mind, you can use a VPN to bypass Steam’s region restriction for other regions, such as Asia, to download Lost Ark on Steam.

2. Set your VPN Region to the US
Create a new Steam Account for US Region
The next step is to create a new Steam account.
- Click on this button on the Windows Steam Application:
2. This window should pop up immediately after clicking the “Create a New Account” button:
3. Type in the required information, but don’t forget to set the “Country of Residence” to the “United States”:
4. After you’ve created your new Steam account set for the United States, head over to the Steam Store through your browser:
5. Lost Ark should now show up as a downloadable game:
6. Clicking the “Play Game” button should take you to this pop-up screen. Select Yes.
Steam should open automatically and prompt you of the installation:

Making it to the Ark
Like many other players, it’s understandable how excited you might have felt to play the newest MMORPG to hit the market and how sad you may have been to discover that the game wasn’t available for your region.
A simple VPN and Steam region setup is all needed to gain access to Lost Ark. Players residing in regions without access to Lost Ark on Steam can download and play the game using this simple trick.
However, remember that since your region is a long distance away from the actual Lost Ark servers, your ping and game connection might not give you the best experience for now. You must wait and see when the developers will cover more regions in the coming months.
