The Nissan Skyline R34 GTR is probably the most popular Japanese Domestic Market car in any racing game. Nissan’s Gran Turismo racer of the 2000s was made popular by film, games, anime, and practically any motorsport media.

Part of the charm was its rarity and the legendary legacy that its forefathers, the R32 and R33, had left behind. GTRs were a terror on the racetrack, scoring multiple titles over multiple consecutive years, thus earning the name of Japan’s monstrous fictional mega-lizard: Godzilla.

The R34 Skyline GTR was the more refined version, and final GTR to ever bear the Skyline name.

The Forza Horizon 4 devs will not miss the chance to feature their rendition of this iconic beast. Hence, we are here today to tell you how you can acquire and experience Forza Horizon 4’s Nissan Skyline R34 GTR.

Nissan Skyline GTR R34 and the Gentleman’s Agreement

1

The Nissan Skyline GTR R34 is a 2-door sports coupe powered by the legendary RB26DETT Turbocharged Inline-six engine. Power is distributed to all four wheels via the high-tech ATTESA-ETS all-wheel-drive system, paired with the SUPER HICAS all-wheel steer.

The Nissan Skyline GTR R34 made a claimed 276 Horsepower and is limited to 180km/h top speed (Japan), no thanks to the “Gentleman’s Agreement between Japanese car manufacturers, which started way back in 1988.

The Gentleman’s Agreement was a verbal agreement between Japanese auto manufacturers such as Toyota, Mazda, Mitsubishi, and Nissan. The agreement aimed to reduce road accidents by limiting the maximum horsepower and top speed of cars produced at the time. The Gentleman’s Agreement was also set in place to prevent any horsepower arms race, which was going to most likely be the trend back in the day.

However, reviewers at the time often expressed how they felt that the R34 GTR felt like it had around 300+ horsepower, which it did. The official dyno numbers for the Nissan Skyline R34 GTR were around 340-350 horsepower, a good 70-80 horsepower more than the claimed 276 horsepower from the factory.

US Versions of the same JDM cars, such as the Mitsubishi GTO, had a claimed 276 Horsepower in Japan, for example. Meanwhile, the USDM GTO makes 320 horsepower on the dyno.

The Nissan Skyline R34 GTR in Forza Horizon 4 feels and sounds like the real thing. If you happen to watch a ton of videos on YouTube about the R34, you will quickly realize how true to life the sound in Forza Horizon 4 is. Of course, this is going to vary depending on the sound system you are currently using.

The screaming 2.6L inline-six sounds smooth, and the R34’s handling in Forza Horizon 4 depicts the typical all-wheel-drive handling which the R34 has. Even compared to some of the more serious racing simulators, the R34 GTR in Forza Horizon 4 feels just as good.

An added perk to having the Nissan Skyline GTR in Forza Horizon 4 is the ability to add custom liveries to your cars. The Nissan Skyline R34 GTR is no exception. For example, popular livery such as Paul Walker’s Skyline GTR in the popular film 2 Fast 2 Furious is available in the custom liveries section of the game.

Auction House

There are two ways to acquire the JDM Legend in Forza Horizon 4. The first method is by bidding in the Forza Horizon Auction House.

The Auction House is a place where real players can “auction” out their cars for credits. Since we would like to acquire the Nissan Skyline R34 GTR, the auction house will be the easiest but most expensive way.

Players will have tens to even hundreds of cars to choose from in the Auction House. However, most of these cars on auction are often overpriced because the previous owners most likely have mods done to them already.

Since you will most likely be grinding races to accumulate in-game Credits to afford the R34s featured in the Auction House anyway, the next method will net you the car for free after a series of races.

To access the Auction House:

  1. Open the Main Menu by pressing ESC on your keyboard:

The next method you can try to unlock the Nissan Skyline R34 GTR is by racing in the Street Race Series. These races can be found scattered across the map in Forza Horizon 4.

By simply grinding their way up to Tier 4 in the Street Race Series, the player will be rewarded a Nissan Skyline R34 GTR.

Godzilla in the Horizon

As one of the most recognizable racing game franchises worldwide, Forza Horizon 4 will not let a chance to feature Godzilla slip by their hands.

Forza Horizon 4 does a great job of representing the Nissan Skyline R34 GTR in the game. The car looks and sounds fantastic. Not to mention the handling of Forza Horizon 4’s R34 GTR, which also feels similar to even more serious Racing Simulators such as Assetto Corsa.

Everyone loves the Iconic JDM Legend. If you’re currently grinding in Forza Horizon 4, we know that the GTR is most likely one of the cars that you would love to own, and as you now know, acquiring Godzilla is pretty simple in the Horizon.
