Hangout Event is a game feature in Genshin Impact where players can do missions with certain characters and spend time with them. Hangout Events allow the players to know a character more despite not being part of the game’s main lore.
To unlock a character’s Hangout Event, you will need two story keys. These can be obtained by completing eight daily commissions. Every Hangout Event quest you take will show a friendship or relationship bar indicated by five hearts, which can be reduced or increased based on the dialogue choices you make as the hangout quest progresses.
Bennett, a long-time member of the Adventurers’ Guild, is one of the few characters to have their hangout event. Infamous for his bad luck, Bennett is a well-loved character because he deals with all his misfortune, which happens almost always.
His Hangout Event has six endings you need to unlock, and to do this, you have to make certain dialogues choices to proceed to the ending route you want. This guide will help you unlock all endings more quickly than trial and error methods.
Once you have reached an ending, you can go to the hangout route chart and click on the part where you were presented with very important choices, and start from there. There is no need to redo the quest from the beginning.
This hangout event quest starts in Mondstadt at the Adventurers’ Guild commission desk. All choices will not have any effect on the ending route up until the part where you are presented with the choices “We could just do something else instead.” and “Sure! Let’s go on an adventure!“
The first choice leads to endings 1 and 2, while the other choice will bring you 3 to 6.
Ending 1: Fruitless Anticipation
Step 1: After selecting “We could just do something else instead.” continue through with the dialogue until you get to the part presented below.
Step 2: Of all the choices, “As long as you don’t cause too much trouble” will reduce one heart from the relationship meter, so be careful.
Step 3: In the part presented below, choose “How about we hang out around town?” to proceed to a route leading to ending 1.
Step 4: When in the part where Bennett says sorry about talking about adventuring again and being boring, choosing “Let’s change the topic” will reduce one heart from the relationship meter.
Step 5: All dialogue choices from here until will not affect the path and the friendship meter up until the part where Bennett talks about overestimating his luck after getting disappointed in the General Goods Store.
Step 6: If you choose “I have to say, I ran out of patience long ago…” the relationship meter will lose one heart.
Ending 2: Hasty Farewell
Step 1: To get to ending 2, you must first follow steps 1 & 2 of ending 1.
Step 2: When choosing what to do, select the choice that says, “How about a walk in the wild?”
Step 3: Follow Bennett to Stormbearer Point and continue the quest.
Step 4: In this part where Bennett says sorry that you did not get to see the sea of dandelions if you select “Maybe scout the place out in advance next time,” it will remove one heart from the relationship meter. So choose the other options instead.
All choices will no longer affect the path and will go to the second ending. However, some of the dialogue choices will still affect the relationship meter.
Step 5: In one of the dialogues, after not finding anything of high value in the chests you found, telling Bennett, “It’s because you don’t have good luck.” will remove one heart from the relationship meter.
Step 6: Continue with the quest to complete the route. All choices will lead to the same ending.
Ending 3: Taste Tester Royce
Step 1: To get to ending 3, you have to start the quest over to get to the part where you are presented with the choices “We could just do something else instead.” and “Sure! Let’s go on an adventure!”
Step 2: Select “Sure! Let’s go on an adventure!” to unlock the route that leads to endings 3 to 6.
Step 3: When Bennett asks you if you prepare food before going on an adventure, choose to say “I do” and follow him to the Good Hunter to cook your meal.
Step 4: After letting Benny cook your food supplies, go to Temple of the Wolf domain and enter the Deserted Ruins of Thermadon.
Step 5: You get trapped inside the dungeon with Bennett and meet another adventurer named Royce. All of the choices will not change anything until the part where Royce complains about not having any supplies left.
Step 6: When Bennett asks your opinion about sharing your supplies with Royce, choosing “You cooked it, you can do whatever you want with it” will let Royce have a taste of what Bennett cooked.
Royce gets sick from the food, and this will end the quest.
Ending 4: Ready to Make Sacrifices
Step 1: To unlock ending four, you need to follow steps 1 to 5 of Ending 3.
Step 2: When Bennett asks your opinion about sharing your supplies with Royce and “No way. You don’t owe him anything,” Royce will leave you two and will venture the dungeon on his own.
Step 3: Proceed to the next room and try to solve the mechanism puzzle with Bennett, but it seems broken.
All dialogue options from this point will no longer affect the ending route or the relationship meter.
Bennett thinks his bad luck will stop affecting him if he becomes unconscious, so he eats his strange dish and then passes out.
Weirdly, help suddenly arrived right after Bennett lost consciousness.
Ending 5: No Wonder It’s a Top-Class Commission
Step 1: To get to ending 5, you have to start the quest over to get to the part where you are presented with the choices “We could just do something else instead.” and “Sure! Let’s go on an adventure!”
Step 2: Select “Sure! Let’s go on an adventure!” to unlock the route that leads to endings 3 to 6.
Step 3: When Bennett asks you if you prepare food before going on an adventure, choose to say, “No, I usually leave straight away.”
Step 4: Without preparing anything, you should go right away to the Temple of the Wolf domain and enter the Deserted Ruins of Thermadon.
Step 5: While inside the domain, you will be faced with a puzzle, and Bennett will offer to try solving it himself first. Choosing to say, “Go ahead! We won’t get anywhere just staring at them.” will unlock the route that leads to ending 5.
Bennett will let you decide which mechanism he should activate first. Neither of the choices available will affect the ending, and you both will still get trapped inside.
Ending 6: Fortunate Outcome
Step 1: To unlock ending 6, follow steps 1 to 4 of ending 5.
Step 2: When faced with a puzzle and Bennett offers to activate it himself, you should choose to tell him, “Hmm, how can I let you face the danger alone?”
Step 3: You solve the puzzle with Bennett and proceed to the next room.
Step 4: In the second room is another set of puzzles that needs a bit of effort to solve. The first thing to do is investigate the crates around and find clues that will help you.
Step 5: Solve the puzzle based on the notes written in the journal that you found.
How to Solve the Puzzle in Bennett’s Hangout Event?
Looking at what is written in the journal, the highlighted lines are:
- Mechanism installed by the door needs someone operating it constantly.
- The number of torches does not indicate the sequence of operation.
- The order has something to do with the position of the torches on the ground.
The puzzle is a 3 x 3 box, and each box is also composed of 3 x 3 smaller boxes.
The switch with one torch will show the first switch to activate. But the position of the torch is in the southern middlebox.
This means that the first switch to activate is on the south. You can follow the red numbers in the photo below to activate the switches.
Step 6: After solving the puzzle, open the chest and unlock the ending.
