Cletus and Trevor go on a hunting trip at Marina Drive.
Years of heists and scores in North Yankton helped hone Trevor’s gunmanship skills to a very decent level, but the same is true for just about any type of weapon he can get his hands on. Whether it’s a 9mm pistol, a sniper rifle, or a nightstick, Trevor can cause carnage and destruction along his path.
After the events of North Yankton, however, Trevor hasn’t seen too much action involving guns. So when he spots his Sandy Shores neighbor, Cletus Ewing, hunting some coyotes, he joins him to kill time and brush up on his aiming and hunting skills.
We have outlined everything you need to know about Target Practice and how you can get a Gold Medal for completing the mission in GTA 5.
Target Practice Synopsis
Trevor runs into Cletus in the neighborhood and asks what he’s been up to. Cletus tells Trevor that he’s been busy hunting. Trevor asks Cletus what he’s been hunting specifically and Cletus tells him he’s been shooting down random stuff such as windows and antennas around the neighborhood.
Cletus asks Trevor if he wants to come with him and shoot down some stuff, and Trevor gladly accepts.
Cletus hands Trevor his sniper rifle and the pair move to a balcony to get a good vantage point of the neighborhood. Cletus will ask Trevor to shoot down various objects around the area, starting with a few satellite dishes. Trevor makes short work of all three satellite dishes with the sniper rifle and then the pair take Cletus’ buggy and drive up to an abandoned motel in the neighborhood.
At the abandoned motel, Trevor and Cletus use the balcony to get a bird’s eye view of the highway. Cletus challenges Trevor to shoot down three passing vehicles’ tires, which Trevor completes easily.
For the final challenge, Cletus asks Trevor to shoot down three coyotes. Again, Trevor’s years of experience with the sniper rifle help him complete the challenge with flying colors.
After taking down the coyotes, Cletus invites Trevor to join him on one of his hunting trips at Paleto Bay, where he promises to show Trevor how to take down an elk. Trevor accepts, and the pair go home for the night, ending the mission.
Target Practice Gold Medal Objectives
- 2 for 1: Kill 2 coyotes with one shot.
- Pop! Pop!: Shoot all 3 tires with an accuracy of at least 75%
- Bad Signal: Shoot all 3 Satellite dishes without missing.
All Gold Medal objectives for this mission can be completed through multiple replays. You can come back another time and replay the mission to get the rest of the Gold Medal objectives.
Target Practice Mission Guide
Follow Cletus to the balcony.
Look towards the right side of the horizon. You should be able to spot a satellite dish on the ground.
Aim for the left leg of the satellite dish.
The next satellite dish can be found on top of one of the houses towards the right side.
Like the previous dish, aim and shoot at the left leg.
The third dish can be found towards the far right on top of another house. Shoot the left leg like the rest of the dishes.
Get in Cletus’ buggy and drive to the designated area marked yellow on the map.
Take the stairs and follow Cletus’ lead.
You need to shoot down the passing cars’ tires. However, you also need to make sure you maintain an accuracy rating of 75% to complete the Pop! Pop! Gold Medal Objective.
It is difficult to shoot the moving cars’ tires while they’re sideways since you need to track them accurately, so the best way to do this is to wait until the incoming and outgoing cars are showing their rear bumpers.
Shoot the cars’ tires from behind. You can take as much time as you need, just make sure you land all the shots perfectly.
After shooting down three tires from three moving vehicles, follow Cletus to the next sniping spot.
From the rooftop, you will spot two packs of coyotes. You can take your time sniping the coyotes since you need to hit two of them with one shot to complete the 2 for 1 Gold Medal Objective.
Wait until the coyotes line up before you take your shot. Kill one more coyote to complete the task.
Sharpshooter
Trevor is no stranger to the sniper rifle and the Target Practice mission shows it. All three targets in the mission are a piece of cake for Trevor as the targets mostly consist of stationary or slow-moving targets.
The Bad Signal Gold Medal Objective should be easy enough to complete as it only requires you to shoot down the legs holding the satellite dishes. Pop! Pop! should be the most challenging because of the moving and small targets. 2 for 1 is fairly simple as well since the coyotes typically group up and move as a pack.
Follow the guide and tips we have lined up above to complete the mission and get all three Gold Medal Objectives in one go.
