GTA 5: The Third Way Mission Guide (Gold Medal)

By the tail end of GTA 5, Franklin will be forced to choose between Trevor or Michael as the FIB, and Devin Weston orders him to kill one or the other.

The thing is, Franklin does not even have to listen to the FIB or Devin Weston; he can just join forces with Michael and Trevor and put down all their enemies once and for all.

The Third Way is the cannon ending for GTA 5, where you play Franklin, Michael, and Trevor together for the last time in a single mission.

In this guide, we have outlined everything you need to know about The Third Way and how you can get a Gold Medal for completing the mission in GTA 5.

The Third Way Synopsis

Thirdly, Franklin does not choose to kill either Trevor or Michael. Instead, Franklin calls Lester when Devin Weston leaves to ask for help. Lester tells Franklin to calm down and come to Lester’s house to talk.

Despite being the man with all the know-how, Lester initially has zero ideas for Franklin and suggests he kill Michael and then kill Trevor, leaving Franklin in disbelief.

Lester then explains that he only told Franklin to kill them because he doesn’t know what to do either.

2 17

When Lester finally calms down and starts to think more rationally, he comes up with a suggestion – bait Devin Weston and Steve Haines into thinking that Franklin, Michael, and Trevor are melting the gold they acquired from the last heist to the foundry so they can take down the FIB and Merryweather at the same time.

Lester tells Franklin to head to the foundry while he contacts Michael and Trevor. Franklin leaves Lester’s house and heads to Lamar’s place to pick him up. Lamar gladly offers help and is thrilled when he finds out he can finally return to Devin Weston.

Franklin and Lamar arrive at the foundry with Michael and Trevor waiting inside. Franklin instructs Lamar to give Franklin a heads-up when he spots Merryweather or the FIB arriving at the foundry.

In the foundry, Franklin spots Michael and Trevor pointing their guns at each other. The pair is still unhappy about working with one another, but Franklin manages to convince them to drop their weapons and work together for once so they can deal with the FIB and Merryweather.

11 11

After Franklin gets Michael and Trevor to agree to a truce, Frankin receives a call from Lamar that Merryweather and FIB are in the area.

Franklin, Michael, and Trevor work together to eliminate all the FIB and Merryweather agents entering the area, which didn’t require too much effort as the FIB and Merryweather ended up shooting at each other anyway.

After successfully clearing the foundry of FIB and Merryweather agents, Franklin, Michael, and Trevor agree to take down their enemies so they can get on with their lives without looking over their shoulders.

Franklin takes down Wei Cheng, Michael deals with Stretch, and Trevor silences Steve Haines. All three protagonists complete their assignments with flying colors, leaving just one enemy to deal with – Devin Weston.

Trevor gets the honor of breaching Devin Weston’s home and kidnapping him, which he does quickly despite Devin Weston’s heavy security detail.

Trevor throws Weston in the trunk of his car and takes him to the Chiliad Mountain State Wilderness, where Trevor waits for Franklin and Trevor to arrive.

Michael arrives first but is quickly followed by Franklin. The trio briefly talks to Devin Weston to send their goodbyes before finally pushing Devin Weston’s car (with Devin still in the trunk) off the cliff.

With Devin Weston and all their enemies gone, Franklin, Michael, and Trevor split up, and the end credits roll.

Flawed, Awful, Uncomfortable, and Poorly Matched

With all their enemies out of the picture, all three GTA 5 protagonists can retire and continue their normal lives in Los Santos. With the millions they scored in their last outing with Lester, the trio should be able to live a full and worry-free life.

The Third Way features one of the longest lists of Gold Medal Objectives of any mission in GTA 5, which makes a ton of sense, as this mission is the real farewell parade for Franklin, Michael, and Trevor.

Getting all Gold Medal objectives in a single run can be tricky, as there are many things to consider in the mission, such as the 21:30 minutes to complete the mission. Other challenging objectives include the headshot and accuracy requirement.

Other than those mentioned above, the rest of the Gold Medal objectives should be doable in a single run. Just follow the detailed guide we have for you above to check off as many objectives as possible in your first run.
