The Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto: Raiden no Inazuma Tono, commonly known as the Raiden Shogun Boss, is a weekly boss in Genshin Impact that arrived along with the updates of version 2.5 of the game. She was introduced as part of Raiden Shogun or Ei’s story quest, the Imperatrix Umbrosa Chapter: Act II – Transient Dreams.
In this weekly boss domain, you will fight against the puppet that Ei created to act as the Raiden Shogun and make sure that Inazuma is being ruled upon as she meditates in her Plane of Euthymia to pursue eternity.
You will find this Raiden Shogun Boss enemy at the End of the Oneiric Euthymia trounce domain located inside a cave on Mt. Yougou, just below the Grand Narukami Shrine. Although you can relieve as many times as you want the battle against the Raiden Shogun puppet, the challenge being a trounce domain sets a limit to once per week the reward you can collect when defeating this boss.
How to Unlock the Raiden Shogun Boss
As mentioned above, this new weekly boss is part of Raiden Shogun Ei’s second story quest, where she went out of her Plain of Euthymia after sensing some strange changes in the external world. Rifthounds have started attacking the Sacred Sakura, causing some of the filth that had been absorbed to leak out and form physical entities.
After investigating and a few fights against Rifthounds, Ei seems to not be in good physical condition. She will then ask you to follow her to the cave below the Grand Narukami Shrine.
Inside the said cave, a portal will suddenly appear, and you follow Ei as she enters the secret realm. This realm is the realm of consciousness of Raiden Makoto—Ei’s twin archon. The puppet Raiden Shogun tries to prevent Ei from freely using the body because her understanding of eternity has changed, but the puppet is designed to avoid modifications.
Completing this story quest will leave the portal to Makoto’s realm for you to access anytime. The End of Oneiric Euthymia – Memories: Guardian of Eternity.
Special Mechanics
Throughout the battle, the Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto will continuously absorb Ominous Destiny, indicated by the round meter icon on the lower right part of her HP. She will gain more Ominous Destiny when her attacks hit you or any of your teammates, and if the meter gets full, the Raiden Shogun Puppet will enter her Baleful Shadowlord form.
When in the Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto is in her Baleful Shadowlord form, active characters will lose Elemental Energy every 5 seconds. She will also gain great damage resistance and deal more fatal attacks.
The nature of the Baleful Shadowlord is similar to an elemental shield, where a durability bar appears below the opponent’s HP bar. It would be best if you used the appropriate elemental attacks to disable this form quickly and in this case, using Cryo and Pyro attacks are the elements that can quickly disable this state.
Attacks and Countermeasures
Raiden Shogun Form
Shield, Counter Attack, Stunned, and Recover
In its Shogun form, if players attack the Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto with melee attacks, a shield will be raised around her to reduce the damage she takes. The puppet Shogun will hold her arm before her as she raises the shield.
After taking a few attacks, the puppet Shogun will do a counterattack to interrupt your attacks. You can dodge this by looking out for her movements. A counterattack will follow if you change her pose from holding her arm up to covering her face.
If you throw enough strong melee attacks, the shield will break, and the Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto will get stunned. When this happens, the opponent’s posture will also be broken, and every hit she takes will make her lose balance.
Observe the puppet Shogun when you attack her in her stunned state because she will make a recovery attack anytime. This will be indicated by a flash of purple light from her body as she stands up straight, which will then be followed by a small Electro explosion around her to push you away.
Slashing Combos
5-Slash Combo (Combo 1)
For this combo, the Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto will do a sword-sheathing stance and then unleash five successive slashes with her sword, which looks like the Musou Isshin.
Zigzag and Circle Slashes (Combo 2)
This combo will start with zigzag slashes towards you, followed by a circle slash. The puppet Raiden Shogun will do a forward thrust quickly, followed by another circle slash.
Combo 2 can be easily dodged if you watch for the short lags between slashes.
Triple Circle Slashes and Lightning Strike (Combo 3)
This combo will start with the Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto lifting her spear for a second. A small spark from the opponent’s hand will indicate the start of three circle slashes, with the last one having a larger AOE.
The puppet Raiden Shogun will then swing her spear down to summon a powerful lightning strike with a large AOE around her.
Dash and Slash (Combo 4)
This next combo is usually executed when you keep a good distance from the puppet Shogun. She will twirl her spear to prepare to dash towards you and quickly do three strong downward slashes.
Your cue to prepare your dodge will be the part where the opponent twirls her spear.
Dashing Cross-Slash
This attack move is another one that the Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto if you are keeping distance from her.
She will sheath her sword, and after a tiny spark from her weapon, she will dash and draw out the blade to do a large cross-slash towards you.
Thunderbolts
The Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto can also summon thunderbolts that will periodically fall and strike. This move will start with a bigger strike in front of the puppet Shogun and then smaller lightning strikes will fall in random spots.
The spot where these Electro bolts will fall will be marked, giving you time to move away.
Lightning Strike
For this attack, the Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto will twirl her spear three times within a second then bolts of powerful lightning will strike around her.
This attack has a large AOE, so it is better to run away and keep a good distance if you are not confident with your dodging skills.
Lightning Blade
This is one of the long-ranged attacks that the Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto can do when staying away from it, especially when using a catalyst character or an archer.
The opponent will throw a blade of lightning that moves very fast, which can be tricky to dodge.
Unbending Lightning
If the Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto is holding a sword, this move will be the ranged attack that she will do.
She will spin in place to throw three fast-moving spinning lightning blades and then end with a larger slow-moving crescent lightning blade.
Mark of the Eye
With this attack, an eye marking will appear where you are standing, immediately exploding. When this marking appears, quickly use your dash to dodge the explosion.
Illusions
For this move, the Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto will move to the center of the battlefield and enter a portal. Four Electro phantoms of herself will appear from that portal and position themselves at every end of the area.
These four illusions of the Raiden Shogun puppet will attack you with long-ranged Electro slashes from their positions. Defeat them to find the true opponent and stun disable her.
Magatsu Electroculi
A Magatsu Electroculi may also be summoned by this powerful opponent to unleash an explosion that can deal massive damage within a wide AOE. You have to continuously attack it to break it and cancel the powerful blast.
Triple Magatsu Electroculi
As the name says, this attack move will have the Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto summon three Magatsu Electroculi. This will cover a much larger space of the battle area, making it a lot more dangerous.
As the Electroculus appears, break at least one of them so that you will have a safe area to stand on when the other two explode.
Judgment: Musou no Hitotachi
For this attack, the Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto will swing her sword once and then hold it up to call forth Electro energy. Seed-like Electro objects will slowly descend to the area around the battlefield, and each seed will have its own small AOE and explode as it hits the ground.
After the last seed explodes, the puppet will swing down her sword to summon a series of slashes while freezing time within the inner AOE around her. Multiple slashes will then hit the petrified character, and each hit deals large damage.
Baleful Shadowlord Form
In this form, the Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto will be holding a giant sword on her giant right arm and a stake on one of her smaller left hands, which she uses as a spear.
Single Slash
When you are near the Baleful Shadowlord, she can do a single slash that will damage the area around her.
She will do a half-second charge before this attack which is indicated by a similar pose to a samurai sheathing its sword when it is about to make a quick draw attack.
Purging Slash Combo
This attack move is a combination of two horizontal slashes followed by shooting the stake on her left hand to the ground, which will explode after a few moments.
If you are standing behind the Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto, this combo will start with a swift turning slash to face you and make the next moves.
Perishing Slash: “Perish!”
The Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto will dash backward to a position at the far end of the battle area. She will then charge her sword by lifting it with both hands for a few seconds and then strike it forward to deal massive Electro damage upfront.
As the puppet Raiden Shogun charges her sword, you will notice a mark on the floor that will slowly widen. This indicates the area where the attack will hit, so make sure to look out for that mark and move away in time.
Ruin Slash Combo: “Ruin follows my blade!”
This attack will have the Baleful Shadowlord do an upward slash to throw several vertical Electro slashes forward, which will spread as it advances. This will then be followed by a slower but wider horizontal slash.
To avoid getting hit by this attack, you can move between the vertical slashes and then time your dodge perfectly when the horizontal slash comes.
Baleful Dash and Slash
Similar to her Raiden Shogun form, the Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto in her Baleful Shadowlord form will do a dashing sword drawing slash when you are keeping a distance from her. However, this version is enhanced and will end with a flurry of slashes.
The best way to avoid damage from this attack is to look out for the Baleful Shadowlord’s sword sheathing position before the dash and position yourself correctly and dodge at the right moment.
Puppet Clap
Puppet hands will appear and spin around your active character and then clap together to deal explosive Electro damage.
You don’t need to keep running while the hands are still spinning because they will move with you. You have to wait for that split second before they clap together and dodge on the right timing.
Puppet Hand Slam
The Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto will send out an Electro shadow that will crawl underground and follow that active character. After a few moments, a phantom puppet hand will violently emerge to deal damage and then slam its palm on the same spot for another damage hit.
Before the phantom puppet hand emerges from under the surface, the shadow mark will widen to indicate the area of effect. This will be your cue to dodge and avoid losing HP.
Eternal Lightning Spears
For this attack, the Baleful Shadowlord will teleport to reposition herself to the center of the battlefield. She will then call forth three giant spears to strike around her and deal AOE damage.
Each spear will then be struck by lightning alternately and pulsate those lightning as Electro energy. The Electro pulses can be dodged using your dash or jump over them at the right timing to avoid getting hit.
Flowers of Remembrance
This is the deadliest attack of Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto while in her Baleful Shadowlord state. She will disappear as the puppet hands fold around her, and at the same time, an orb called the Flower of Remembrance will appear at the center of the battlefield.
After a few moments, the Baleful Shadowlord will do a huge horizontal strike that will do a True Damage, which negates all shields and instantly kills the active character.
To avoid this, you need to hit the Flower of Remembrance with elemental attacks, especially Electro, to charge it up. Once fully charged, the orb will explode and create a special shield in the area. All active characters need to get inside this special shield to prevent getting KO’d by this massive sword slash.
In a co-op game, only one of the unprotected players will be marked, and only this character will fall after the massive sword slash.
Suggestions: Team and Element Composition, Combat Strategies
The Magatsu Mitake Narukami has the same level of resistance to all elements. However, while in her Baleful Shadowlord, the shield or durability bar that you need to destroy is Electro, which is much weaker against Cryo and Pyro attacks. This means having a Cryo or Pyro character or both in the team will make the fight easier.
Hitting the puppet in Baleful Shadowlord form with an elemental attack that is not Electro will trigger an elemental reaction. When this happens, your active character will gain elemental energy particles, which can counter the energy-draining ability of this opponent.
Although it won’t do much in disabling the Magatsu Mitake Narukami’s Baleful Shadowlord form, you can still add an Electro character so that it will be faster for you to charge the Flowers of Remembrance.
A healer and shield provider is always recommended in any boss battle.
The Electro shield also has its durability reduced every time the Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto will make an attack in Baleful Shadowlord. If you are more confident with your dodging skills, you can dodge all the attacks of this enemy while in this special state and wait for the form to be disabled.
Domain Completion Rewards
Like every boss fight and domain challenge, you will get rewards if you meet the required Resin amount and run limits. The following are the items you can obtain once a week from the End of the Oneiric Euthymia.

The handpiece of the puppet Raiden Shogun is believed to symbolize the concept of “one sees, and one does.”
Tears of the Calamitous God
This item is in the shape of the baleful Eye of Stormy Judgment, which is said to represent how even a baleful gaze must wash with tears.
The Meaning of Aeons
This fragment from the puppet is a small piece of headgear that will make one wonder if Raiden Makoto’s meaning of eternity was successfully communicated or not.
Northlander Weapon Billets
Northlander Billets are rare items that can only be obtained from weekly trounce domains and rewards by completing certain game contents.
It is a material used to forge 4-star weapons via the city smithy.
Dream Solvent
A consumable item is used to convert one kind of 5-star material to another one of the same origins.
Artifacts
You can also get artifacts from this domain which include both 4 and 5 stars in rarity.
The possible artifact sets that you can get are the Berserker, The Exile, Instructor, Wanderer’s Troupe, and Gladiator’s Finale.
Vajrada Amethyst Jewels
These are Electro-type crystals used to ascend a character to the next ascension phase. It includes Vajrada Amethyst Silvers, Fragments, Chunks, and Gemstones.
