The Resident Evil franchise has come and gone from the cinemas, and with Milla Jovovich moving on to Monster Hunter films, Netflix is having their stab at a Resident Evil adaptation. Just in, we have a new trailer for the Resident Evil series.

Netflix Drops New Trailer for Resident Evil Series

Here’s the storyline:

The story takes place over two timelines. The first of which involves 14 year old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker moving to New Raccoon City. They come to realise that their father may be concealing dark secrets that could destroy the world. The second timeline takes place over a decade in the future, where only 15 million humans remain, with over 6 billion animals and people being infected with the T-virus. It follows Jade, now thirty, in her efforts to survive in this world.

We don’t know exactly which timeline this series is going to follow, but it’s possible that it could be taking place in the same universe as last year’s Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. Then again, I think Netflix would do best if they just decided to keep their own original story.

Admittedly, the story from the games is already pretty complicated, and it would be hard to follow unless you watched someone explain it on Youtube. If anything, the RE adaptations only managed to copy some elements here and there, but always end up telling their own original stories.

I’m just holding out for the timeline that will introduce Resident Evil Village’s resident ‘vampire mommy’ Lady Dimitrescu.

The Resident Evil series premieres on Netflix on July 14.
