Henry Cavill may have bowed out of The Witcher to be replaced by Liam Hemsworth, but he still has one more season where he plays Geralt of Rivia. The Witcher 3 is set to come to Netflix later this June, and we have a new trailer confirming a two-part season.
Watch this:
We don’t know exactly what the plot for Season 3 will be, but some fans are guessing that the show could be closing the book on the trio of Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer, especially with Cavill exiting the show.
I would speculate that they would actually shift the spotlight to Ciri in future seasons since she’s already grown. With Hemsworth cast in the role, I can imagine that they would have to do one huge time jump and maybe do a soft reboot of the series; to shake off any comparisons to Cavill.
With CD Projekt Red already at work on multiple Witcher games, this series should keep fans occupied while waiting for the games’ release. Admittedly, they haven’t been as faithful to the source material as some people (i.e., Cavill) would want, but there is still plenty to love about this mature fantasy series. Plus, it’s the next best thing until the next House of the Dragon season on HBO Max.
Vol. 1 of The Witcher 3 premieres on Netflix on June 29; Vol. 2 releases on July 27.
