“Gotta catch ’em all,” a famous phrase from the globally recognized anime and one of the franchise’s most famous lines, is one of the player’s main goals in the new Pokemon Legends: Arceus. The game is set in the Sinnoh Region. The player, whose origin is unknown, will join the Galaxy Expedition Team as one of the Survey Corps’ key members.
Members of the Survey Corps must learn everything they can about the Pokemon that live in the region. So the player must catch every Pokemon species and complete Research Tasks to complete the first ever Hisui Pokedex. In addition, to emphasize the mission of catching them all, the player must meet every Pokemon in the region.
This guide will discuss everything you need to know about Hisuian Qwilfish in Pokemon Legends: Arceus!
Hisuian Qwilfish
Hisuian Qwilfish, the 84th Pokemon in the Hisuian Pokedex, is a Dark and Poison-type Pokemon that has a round body covered in spikes with a black upper half and a pale yellow lower half, purple-tipped spikes on its upper half except for the smaller pair above its eyes, a pair of angry looking eyes with small, black pupils and purple-colored lines under its eyes, purple lips, and a pale yellow tail that is shaped like a paddle with an outline that is colored black and a black marking in the middle that looks like a lowercase letter “q.”
According to its Pokedex entry in the game, fishermen do not like the Hisuian Qwilfish. This is because it’s troublesome and sprays poison, which gets everywhere, from its spines. It also says that Qwilfish can be found in other regions with different forms.
Basic Information
Hisuian Qwilfish is a Dark and Poison-type Pokemon, so it has a weakness (super effective) to Ground-type moves, a resistance (not very effective) to Dark-type, Ghost-type, Grass-type, and Poison-type moves, and an immunity (no effect) to Psychic-type moves.
Hisuian Qwilfish’s base stats are 65 HP, 95 Attack, 85 Defense, 55 Special Attack, 55 Special Defense, and 85 Speed, for a total of 440.
The player can evolve the Hisuian Qwilfish after using the move Barb Barrage in strong style 20 times. Hisuian Qwilfish can learn Barb Barrage once it reaches Level 15. Also, since the move must be performed strongly to count, Hisuian Qwilfish must master Barb Barrage.
Hisuian Qwilfish’s favorite foods are Hearty Grains and Plump Beans. Along with berries, these foods may be used as both food and a lure before capturing or battling Hisuian Qwilfish without being spotted.
When a Hisuian Qwilfish is defeated or captured in the wild, the player receives two items dropped by the Hisuian Qwilfish: a Ball of Mud and a Pop Pod.
Location
To find a Hisuian Qwilfish, the player can head to the following locations:
In the Obsidian Fieldlands: in the waters around Ramanas Island.
In the waters of the Cobalt Coastlands: Tranquility Cove, Lunker’s Lair, and east of Islespy Shore.
The Hisuian Qwilfish can be found in the areas mentioned daily and in every weather condition.
The player can find an Alpha Hisuian Qwilfish in the waters east of Islespy Shore in the Cobalt Coastlands. It can also be found here at all times of the day in every weather condition. The Alpha Hisuian Qwilfish found here is a Level 55 Pokemon.
Hisuian Qwilfish may also be found in Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Cobalt Coastlands.
Research Tasks
The following are the Research Tasks in Hisuian Qwilfish’s Pokedex entry in Pokemon Legends: Arceus:
Multiplier | Research Task | Objectives |
x2 | Number caught | 1/2/4/10/15 |
Number defeated | 1/3/6/12/25
Number you have defeated with Ground type moves | 1/2/4/6/10
x2 | Times you have seen it use Barb Barrage | 1/3/8/20/40 |
x2 | Times you have seen it use a strong style move | 1/3/8/20/40 |
x2 | Number you have evolved | 1 |
A Pokemon’s Pokedex entry must get to Research Level 10 to be considered finished. Each time a Research Task’s objectives are fulfilled, the Pokedex entry’s Research Level rises by one level. However, when a Research Task objective has a multiplier of x2, it gives two Research Levels.

In addition, completing Pokedex entries and Research Task objectives earns the player Research Points. A player’s Star Rank in the Galaxy Team will rise if the player earns enough Research Points.
To quickly complete Hisuian Qwilfish’s Pokedex entry, the player can catch one, then use it in battle and use Barb Barrage in a strong style three times. Achieving all of these will tick the first objective of the “Number caught” Research Task to acquire two Research Levels due to its x2 multiplier, tick the first and second objectives of the “Times you have seen it use Barb Barrage” Research Task to obtain four Research Levels due to its x2 multiplier, and tick the first and second objectives of the “Times you have seen it use a strong style move” Research Task to get the four Research Levels required, because of its x2 multiplier, to reach Research Level 10.
