In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the player takes on the role of an Academy transfer student in the Paldea Region. The player is the only one who can decide what to do in the game. Maybe it’s defeating every Pokemon and becoming the champion.

Pokemon Scarlet/Violet: The Way Home Guide

Perhaps it is finishing the Pokedex and catching every Pokemon. Or maybe it’s searching for the elusive new Titan Pokemon. It can even be breaking up the mysterious Team Star or heading to Area Zero in the Great Crater of Paldea!

In this guide, the player will learn how to complete “The Way Home” questline in Pokemon Scarlet/Violet! Consider this your spoiler alert for the ending of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet!

Unlock The Way Home in Pokemon Scarlet/Violet

Before the player can start this quest, the player must first complete the three main questlines in the game. First is the Victory Road questline, where the player must defeat all eight Pokemon Gyms and the Pokemon League in the Paldea region to become Champion.

Next is the Starfall Street questline, where the player must help Cassiopeia take down Team Star. And finally, the Path of Legends questline, where the player must help Arven track down the Titan Pokemon to learn more about the Herba Mystica.

Once the player has completed all three questlines, Arven will call them. He will ask if they remember what they discussed before, which is going to Area Zero. Select any of the responses from the prompt. Arven will say the player’s effort around the Paldea region has helped make the player’s name known.

Now Arven can find two allies willing to go to Area Zero with Arven and the player. All that is needed now is to get there. Arven will ask the player to meet him at the Zero Gate. He will send the location to the player’s Rotom Phone.

Get to Zero Gate

Head to Medali near the northwestern edge of the Great Crater of Paldea to get to Zero Gate. Follow the path southeast of Medali to find a cave opening with a gate. Enter the gate, and a cutscene will play where Arven will meet the player. He will explain that Zero Gate was made so researchers could try to observe inside the Great Crater of Paldea.

Arven will continue and say that Area Zero is where the player’s Koraidon or Miraidon was born. Then, Arven and the player will enter Zero Gate. Now you have started Pokemon Scarlet/Violet’s “The Way Home” quest!

In this quest, it is recommended that you use Pokemon that are Level 68 and higher to complete the battles.

Inside the Zero Gate, Nemona will appear. Arven will explain that he persuaded her by saying she could battle powerful Pokemon. Arven then explains that the director introduced him to Penny, who agreed to help.

The lights inside the dark Zero Gate will turn on, and Penny will appear. She will explain that it was in power-saving mode, so she hacked the system and overrode the settings.

After that, Professor Sada or Turo will talk through the speakers of Zero Gate. Nemona and Penny will get acquainted with the Professor and their relationship with Arven. Professor Sada or Turo will tell everyone to enter the Great Crater of Paldea. They can get to the lower chamber using the elevator nearby.

Enter the elevator near the upper left corner of the room. A cutscene will play where the player, Nemona, Penny, and Arven, are in the lower chambers and are given access to the lower level above Area Zero.

Professor Sada or Turo will then ask if the player brought Koraidon or Miraidon. Select ‘Yes’ on the prompt, and the Professor will thank the player for bringing it to the player’s adventures. Professor Sada or Turo explains the player can use Koraidon or Miraidon’s gliding ability to head down toward Area Zero. There the Professor will contact them again.

Follow Nemona, Penny, and Arven just ahead. Talk to Arven, and he will ask if you are ready for the worst. Select “Yes” on the prompt. A cutscene will play where Nemona, Penny, and Arven, and the player rides Koraidon or Miraidon and glides toward Area Zero.

Area Zero Locks

After landing in Area Zero, Professor Sada or Turo will ask everyone to meet them at the Zero Lab, which is in the deepest part of Area Zero, but its entrance has four locks that the Professor cannot unlock. So, on the way to Area Zero, the Professor will ask everyone to visit four Research Stations inside the Great Crater of Paldea and disable one of the locks of the Zero Lab.

It is worth mentioning, however, that in this area, the player cannot ride Koraidon or Miraidon.

Research Station #1

The first Research Station can be found by following the path leading deeper into Area Zero. The Research Station is near the edge of a fenced cliff.

Approach the Research Station, and a cutscene will play where a Glimmora will ambush the player and the gang. Then, a battle against Glimmora will commence! In this battle, Nemona and her Glimmora will help the player out.

Glimmora

The Glimmora is a Level 62 Rock and Poison-type Pokemon, which means that it has a weakness to Psychic-type, Steel-type, Water-type, and especially Ground-type moves (super effective) and resistance to the Bug-type, Fairy-type, Fire-type, Flying-type, Normal-type, and especially Poison-type moves (not very effective).

Glimmora has an Ability called Toxic Debris which will scatter Toxic Spikes of the opposing Pokemon’s field when a physical move hits it, and its effect can activate for a maximum of two times.

Entering the Research Station

After defeating the Glimmora, enter the Research Station. Professor Sada or Turo will explain this facility was made 87 years ago as a way station. So Nemona will say that that is why they can rest there if they want to. Then, the Professor will ask the player to disable the first lock on the Zero Lab using the control panel.

Approach the control panel just ahead, and interact with it. Select “Yes” on the prompt when asked if the player wants to press the lock disabling button. After that, only three locks are needed to unlock the Zero Lab!

Here, the player can heal their Pokemon by interacting with the bed. You can find it in the upper left corner of the room.

After that, exit the Research Station by heading out to the southern part of the room.

Research Station #2

The next Research Station can be found by continuing to follow the path deeper to Area Zero. Then pass under a large rock formation and cross a large rock bridge. The Research Station is right next to a wall of a cliff.

Approach the Research Station, and a cutscene will play where the player and the gang will find a Paradox Pokemon and start a battle against it! The Paradox Pokemon that the player will battle against depends on the player’s version of the game. They will battle a Level 62 Scream Tail in Pokemon Scarlet or a Level 62 Iron Bundle in Pokemon Violet.

In this battle, Penny and her Umbreon will help the player out.

Scream Tail

Scream Tail, which is a Paradox Jigglypuff, is a Fairy and Psychic-type Pokemon meaning it is weak (super effective) to Ghost-type, Poison-type, and Steel-type moves, resistant (not very effective) to Psychic-type and especially Fighting-type moves, and immune (no effect) to Dragon-type moves.

It has an Ability called Photosynthesis which boosts its highest stat by 30% if it is the Attack, Defense, Special Attack, and Special Defense stat or 50% if it is the Speed stat and will activate if Harsh Sunlight is active or if the Pokemon is holding a Booster Energy.

Iron Bundle

Iron Bundle, a Paradox Delibird, is an Ice and Water-type Pokemon. It has a weakness to Electric-type, Fighting-type, Grass-type, and Rock-type moves (super effective) and resistance to Water-type and especially Ice-type moves (not very effective).

The iron bundle has an Ability called Quark Drive which boosts its highest stat by 30% if it is the Attack, Defense, Special Attack, and Special Defense stat or 50% if it is the Speed stat and will activate if Electric Terrain is active or if the Pokemon is holding a Booster Energy.

Entering the Research Station

After defeating Scream Tail or Iron Bundle, enter the Research Station, and Arven will say that maybe the Pokemon they just faced is one of the Monsters of Area Zero. Then, Professor Sada or Turo will explain that some of the life forms in Area Zero are Pokemon that lived in the distant past/future.

Zero Lab has a time machine that summons these Pokemon to Area Zero. The Professor would explain further that humans could not return to the present if they used a time machine.

After a few more bits of dialogue, approach the control panel ahead. Interact with it, and select “Yes” when asked if the player wants to press the lock disabling button. After that, only two locks remain to unlock the Zero Lab!

Then, Arven will give the player the Scarlet/Violet Book as he thinks it has something to do with Area Zero. The Professor expects the player to fix whatever they need.

After that, exit the Research Station through the path south of the room.

Research Station #3

Next, the player and the gang can head to the third Research Station by heading deeper into Area Zero. Pass through the bottom of a waterfall and another massive rock formation. This Research Station is also next to a wall of a cliff.

Approach the Research Station, and another cutscene will play where another Paradox Pokemon will ambush Nemona, Penny, Arven, and the player. Similar to the previous Research Station, the Paradox Pokemon, the player will face depends on the player’s version of the game: a Level 62 Great Tusk in Pokemon Scarlet or a Level 62 Iron Treads in Pokemon Violet. Arven and his Mabosstiff will help the player in this battle.

Great Tusk

Great Tusk, which is a Paradox Donphan, is a Ground and Fighting-type Pokemon, which means that it has a weakness to Fairy-type, Flying-type, Grass-type, Ice-type, Psychic-type, and Water-type moves (super effective), a resistance to the Bug-type, Dark-type, Poison-type, and especially Rock-type moves (not very effective), and an immunity to Electric-type moves (no effect).

It has the Photosynthesis Ability that increases its highest stat by 30% if it is Attack, Defense, Special Attack, or Special Defense, or 50% if it is Speed. It will activate if Harsh Sunlight is active or the Pokemon holds Booster Energy.

Iron Treads

Iron Treads, a Paradox Donphan, is a Ground and Steel-type Pokemon. Hence, it has a weakness to Fighting-type, Fire-type, Ground-type, and Water-type moves (super effective), a resistance to the Bug-type, Dragon-type, Fairy-type, Flying-type, Normal-type, Psychic-type, Steel-type, especially Rock-type moves (not very effective), and immunity to Electric-type and Poison-type moves (no effect).

Iron Treads also has the Quark Drive Ability that increases its highest stat by 30% if the highest stat is Attack, Defense, Special Attack, or Special Defense stat or 50% if the highest stat is the Speed stat and will only activate if Electric Terrain is active or the Pokemon is holding a Booster Energy.

Entering the Research Station

After defeating Great Tusk or Iron Treads, enter the Research Station. Here Arven will reveal that the professors found Koraidon or Miraidon while working on the time machine. The Professor will explain further that it was the first Pokemon they successfully brought from the past/future.

Through research, they realized that Koraidon/Miraidon is the ancient/future form of the Pokemon Cyclizar. The Professor will continue that even though there are a lot of Pokemon in Area Zero from different points in time, the only Pokemon they could bring over were two specimens of Koraidon and Miraidon.

After that, approach the control panel just ahead. Interact with it, and select “Yes” on the prompt to disable another one of the locks on the Zero Lab. After that, only one lock is left to unlock the Zero Lab!

Then, exit the Research Station to continue.

Research Station #4

The final Research Station can be found by following the path inside the large cave ahead of the previous. Inside the cave with many large crystals, follow the path down the cavern. The Research Station is next to a cavern wall surrounded by large crystals.

Once there, the player will not face a Pokemon like the previous Research Stations. Instead, they can immediately enter this Research Station. Once inside the Research Station, the player and the gang will find that the place is a mess then Professor Sada or Turo will talk to them again but suddenly sound glitchy.

After that, approach the control panel. Interact with it, and select “Yes” on the prompt to disable the final lock on the Zero Lab. Then, the Professor will again talk to them normally and apologize for the signal interference. Arven, however, will say it was not a signal interference. The Professor will interject and ask them to head to the Zero Lab at the bottom of Area Zero.

The Bottom of Area Zero

Next, head out of the Research Station and continue into the cavern. At the bottom, Nemona, Penny, and Arven will find the Zero Lab, a large building inside a large crystal.

Approach the Zero Lab, and a cutscene will play where Professor Sada or Turo will call the player and explain that the crystals in Area Zero possess a peculiar energy that can change the functions of living things and optimize the performance of machinery and this same energy is what allows Pokemon to Terastallize. Penny will realize that Tera Orbs are made of crystals from Area Zero, which the Professor will confirm is true.

Now that all the locks have been removed, Professor Sada or Turo will warn the player and the gang that dangerous Pokemon will quickly confront them once they enter the Zero Lab. They will suggest that the player be ready before heading inside.

Approach Control Panel

Once ready, approach the control panel near the ramp, interact with it, and select “Yes” on the prompt. When the player is asked if they are ready to enter the Zero Lab, Arven will interject that they should have Koraidon or Miraidon’s help if they face the dangerous Pokemon inside. After a few bits of dialogue, select “Yes” on the prompt to let Koraidon or Miraidon out.

After that, as they wait for the door to open, a cutscene will play where another Koraidon or Miraidon is watching them from afar, then drop down near Nemona, Penny, Arven, the player, and the player’s Koraidon/Miraidon. The other Koraidon or Miraidon will then start to look aggressive, which will scare the player’s Koraidon or Miraidon but will enter the door to the Zero Lab first.

Afterward, three Pokemon will come out of the door of Zero Lab. They will surround the player and the gang. A battle against these Pokemon will then commence!

The player and the gang must face three Pokemon one at a time. The Pokemon the gang will face also depends on the player’s version of the game:

Scarlet Battle

In Pokemon Scarlet, the player and the gang will face a Level 64 Great Tusk, a Level 64 Brute Bonnet, and a Level 64 Flutter Mane near the entrance of the Zero Lab.

Great Tusk

Great Tusk is, again, a Ground and Fighting-type Pokemon, meaning it is weak (super effective) to Fairy-type, Flying-type, Grass-type, Ice-type, Psychic-type, and Water-type moves, resistant (not very effective) to the Bug-type, Dark-type, Poison-type, and especially Rock-type moves, and immune (no effect) to Electric-type moves.

Against the Great Tusk, Nemona and her Lycanroc will help the player out.

Brute Bonnet

Brute Bonnet, which is a Paradox Amoonguss, is a Grass and Dark-type Pokemon, meaning it is weak (super effective) to Fairy-type, Fighting-type, Fire-type, Flying-type, Ice-type, Poison-type, and especially Bug-type moves, resistant (not very effective) to Dark-type, Electric-type, Ghost-type, Grass-type, Ground-type, and Water-type moves, and immunity to Psychic-type moves (no effect).

Against the Brute Bonnet, Penny will help out with her Umbreon.

Flutter Mane

Flutter Mane, which is a Paradox Misdreavus, is a Ghost and Fairy-type Pokemon, meaning it is weak (super effective) to Ghost-type and Steel-type moves, resistant (not very effective) to Bug-type moves, and immune (no effect) to Dragon-type, Fighting-type, and Normal-type moves.

Against the Flutter Mane, Arven and his Mabosstiff will fight alongside the player.

Great Tusk, Brute Bonnet, and Flutter Mane all have the Ability called Photosynthesis. It increases its highest stat by 30% if it is the Attack, Defense, Special Attack, or Special Defense or 50% if it is the Speed stat. It will activate if Harsh Sunlight is active or the Pokemon holds Booster Energy.

Violet Pokemon

As for Pokemon Violet, the player will face a Level 64 Iron Treads, a Level 64 Iron Hands, and a Level 64 Iron Jugulis near the entrance of Zero Lab.

Iron Treads

Again, Iron Treads is a Ground and Steel-type Pokemon. Hence, it has a weakness to Fighting-type, Fire-type, Ground-type, and Water-type moves (super effective), a resistance to the Bug-type, Dragon-type, Fairy-type, Flying-type, Normal-type, Psychic-type, Steel-type, Rock-type moves (not very effective), and immunity to Electric-type and Poison-type moves (no effect).

Nemona and her Lycanroc will help the player in the battle against Iron Treads.

Iron Hands

Iron Hands, which is a Paradox Hariyama, is a Fighting and Electric-type Pokemon, meaning it is weak (super effective) to Fairy-type, Ground-type, and Psychic-type moves and resistant (not very effective) to the Bug-type, Dark-type, Electric-type, Rock-type, and Steel-type moves.

Penny will help out with her Umbreon in the battle against Iron Hands.

Iron Jugulis

Iron Jugulis, which is a Paradox Hydreigon, is a Dark and Flying-type Pokemon meaning it is weak (super effective) to Electric-type, Fairy-type, Ice-type, and Rock-type moves, resistant (not very effective) to Dark-type, Ghost-type, and Grass-type moves, and immune (no effect) to Ground-type and Psychic-type moves.

Arven and his Mabosstiff will fight alongside the player in the battle against Iron Jugulis.

Iron Treads, Iron Hands, and Iron Jugulis all have the Ability called Quark Drive that increases its highest stat by 30% if the highest stat is Attack, Defense, Special Attack, or Special Defense stat or 50% if the highest stat is the Speed stat and will only activate if Electric Terrain is active or the Pokemon is holding a Booster Energy.

After defeating all the Pokemon, Penny, Nemona, and Arven will continue to battle the Pokemon outside the door of the Zero Lab to stop them from leaving. So Arven will ask the player to enter the Zero Lab with the Koraidon or Miraidon.

Zero Lab

QifPvhpxAlm vTDcIV y va1 GcuCOBeJK1j2ltpgnBoqZhs VGcUHJZ7Qj1vHkMKph3 r K0V5hg17g7hbb9bW

Next, head up the ramp and enter the large door of the Zero Lab. Once the game loads back, follow the path. The player will get to a room with what looks like an unconscious Professor Sada or Turo. Then, a cutscene will play where the Professor will sound like a robot. It will say it is deactivating sleep mode, and its eyes will flash red.

The Professor will approach the player when the other Koraidon or Miraidon appears. However, the Professor will let it return to its ball. Professor Sada or Turo will then explain that the player’s Koraidon or Miraidon left Area Zero because it lost to the other, more aggressive, Koraidon or Miraidon in a territorial struggle.

Select any of the responses from the prompt, and they will explain that the Professor in front of the player is an artificial intelligence created by the Professor that is imbued with the Professor’s knowledge and memories. The Professor will apologize to the player and reveal that they are not the true Professor Sada or Turo. He will also reveal that the real Professor Sada or Turo died because of the incident that wrecked the fourth Research Station.

Select any of the responses from the prompt. The AI Professor will explain that the original Professor failed to accurately judge the Pokemon’s full power. He will explain further that all the Professor wanted was for Koraidon or Miraidon to survive and thrive, so the real Professor jumped in front of the player’s Koraidon to protect it.

AI Professor

Then, the AI Professor will reveal they wanted the player to come because they have one last thing to do. That is to stop the time machine that the original Professor created.

After that, this will be the player’s last chance to leave, so ensure you are prepared before continuing.

Once ready, follow the AI Professor, interact with it, and a cutscene will play where the AI Professor and the player will ride an elevator to get to the lower level. During the elevator ride, the player can ask questions from a prompt to the AI Professor.

After selecting all the prompts, the AI Professor will explain that the original Professor dreamt of a world where ancient/future Pokemon lived alongside the present-day Pokemon in harmony. However, their presence may destroy the ecological balance of the present day. The barrier around Area Zero still contains the ancient/future Pokemon.

Continuing the AI Professor

However, as some Pokemon, like the Quaking Earth Titan, have broken through the barrier, everyone else can break free, too. When that happens, the varied ecosystem of the Paldea region will be destroyed. So, again, the AI Professor will ask the player to destroy the real Professor’s dream.

Upon arriving at the lowest level, the AI Professor and the player will be in a large room with crystal walls. Here, the AI Professor will show the player the time machine powered by the Terastal phenomenon.

Approach the AI Profesor next to the time machine. Interact with the AI Professor, and he will say that the Scarlet/Violet Book is needed to stop the time machine. However, the AI Professor will warn the player that, because of the system’s programming, they may try to attack the player once the player tries to stop the time machine. So, the player must prepare before continuing.

Once the player is ready, approach the time machine. Interact with it and select “Yes” on the prompt to place the Scarlet/Violet Book on the pedestal. Then a battle against the AI Professor will begin!

Similar to the other battles, the Pokemon that the AI Professor will use depends on the player’s game version:

Iron Moth, which is also a Paradox Volcarona, is a Fire and Poison-type Pokemon which means that it has a weakness (super effective) to Psychic-type, Rock-type, Water-type, and especially Ground-type moves and resistance (not very effective) to Fighting-type, Fire-type, Ice-type, Poison-type, Steel-type, and especially Bug-type, Fairy-type, and Grass-type moves.

AI Professor Turo’s Iron Moth will use the following moves in Pokemon Scarlet/Violet “The Way Home”:

  • Air Slash is a special Flying-type move with 75 Power and 95 Accuracy also has a 30% chance of causing the opposing Pokemon to flinch.
  • Sludge Wave is a special Poison-type move with 95 Power and 100 Accuracy; it also has a 10% chance of poisoning the opposing Pokemon.

  • Fiery Dance is a special Fire-type move with 80 Power and 100 Accuracy also has a 50% chance of raising the Special Attack stat of the Pokemon using the move by one stage.

AI Professor Turo’s Iron Bundle

Iron Bundle is, again, an Ice and Water-type Pokemon. Hence, it is weak (super effective) to Electric-type, Fighting-type, Grass-type, and Rock-type and resistant (not very effective) to Water-type, especially Ice-type.

  • Snowscape is an Ice-type status move that activates a snowstorm for five turns and boosts the Defense stat of Ice-type Pokemon while the snowstorm is active.

AI Professor Turo’s Iron Hands

Iron Hands is, again, a Fighting and Electric-type Pokemon. Hence, it is weak (super effective) to Fairy-type, Ground-type, and Psychic-type moves and resistant (not very effective) to the Bug-type, Dark-type, Electric-type, Rock-type, and Steel-type moves.

AI Professor Turo’s Iron Hands will use the following moves in Pokemon Scarlet/Violet “The Way Home”:

  • Thunder Punch is a physical Electric-type move with 75 Power and 100 Accuracy; it also has a 10% chance of paralyzing the opposing Pokemon.
  • Iron Head is a physical Steel-type that moves 80 Power and 100 Accuracy; it also has a 30% chance of causing the opposing Pokemon to flinch.
  • Drain Punch is a physical Fighting-type move with 75 Power and 100 Accuracy; it will also recover the HP of the Pokemon using the move equal to half of the damage dealt.
  • Fake Out is a physical Normal-type move with 40 Power and 100 Accuracy that will always cause the opposing Pokemon to flinch but will only work when the move is used on the first turn, where the Pokemon can attack after being sent out. This move also has an increased Speed priority of 3, allowing it to go faster than most.

AI Professor Turo’s Iron Jugulis

Iron Jugulis is, again, a Dark and Flying-type Pokemon, so it is weak (super effective) to Electric-type, Fairy-type, Ice-type, and Rock-type moves, resistant (not very effective) to Dark-type, Ghost-type, and Grass-type moves, and immunity (no effect) to Ground-type and Psychic-type moves.

AI Professor Turo’s Iron Jugulis will use the following moves in Pokemon Scarlet/Violet “The Way Home”:

  • Air Slash is a special Flying-type move with 75 Power and 95 Accuracy; it also has a 30% chance of causing the opposing Pokemon to flinch.
  • Dark Pulse is a special Dark-type move with 80 Power and 100 Accuracy; it also has a 20% chance of causing the opposing Pokemon to flinch.
  • Flamethrower is a special Fire-type move with 90 Power and 100 Accuracy; it also has a 10% chance of burning the opposing Pokemon.
  • Flash Cannon is a special Steel-type move with 80 Power and 100 Accuracy also has a 10% chance to lower the opposing Pokemon’s Special Defense stat by one stage.

AI Professor Turo’s Iron Thorns

Iron Thorns, which is a Paradox Tyranitar, is a Rock and Electric-type Pokemon which means that it has a weakness (super effective) to Fighting-type, Grass-type, Water-type, and especially Ground-type moves and resistance (not very effective) to Electric-type, Fire-type, Normal-type, Poison-type, and especially Flying-type moves.

AI Professor Turo’s Iron Thorns will use the following moves in Pokemon Scarlet/Violet “The Way Home”:

  • Thunder Punch is a physical Electric-type move with 75 Power and 100 Accuracy also has a 10% chance of paralyzing the opposing Pokemon.
  • Stone Edge is a physical Rock-type move with 100 Power and 80 Accuracy and also has a 1-stage increased Critical Hit ratio.
  • Brick Break is a physical Fighting-type move with 75 Power and 100 Accuracy, which will also destroy the active protective barriers in the battle.
  • Earthquake is a physical Ground-type move with 100 Power and 100 Accuracy that will hit all of the Pokemon in the field and deal double damage on a Pokemon that used the move Dig.

AI Professor Turo’s Iron Valiant

Iron Valiant, which is a Paradox Gardevoir, is a Fairy and Fighting type Pokemon which means that it has a weakness (super effective) to Fairy-type, Flying-type, Poison-type, Psychic-type, and Steel-type moves, a resistance (not very effective) to Fighting-type, Rock-type, and especially Bug-type and Dark-type moves, and an immunity (no effect) to Dragon-type moves.

AI Professor Turo’s Iron Valiant will use the following moves in Pokemon Scarlet/Violet “The Way Home”:

  • Brick Break is a physical Fighting-type move with 75 Power and 100 Accuracy that will also destroy the protective barriers active in the battle.
  • Psycho Cut is a physical Psychic-type move with 70 Power and 100 Accuracy with a 1-stage increased Critical Hit ratio.
  • Poison Jab is a physical Poison-type move with 80 Power and 100 Accuracy; it also has a 30% chance of poisoning the opposing Pokemon.
  • Spirit Break is a physical Fairy-type move with 75 Power and 100 Accuracy; it will also lower the Special Attack stat of the opposing Pokemon by one stage.

All of AI Professor Turo’s Pokemon have the Quark Drive ability that, if Electric Terrain is active or the Pokemon is holding a Booster Energy, increases its highest stat by 30% if the highest stat is Attack, Defense, Special Attack, or Special Defense stat or 50% if the highest stat is the Speed stat.

As AI Professor Turo’s Pokemon are Level 66 and 67, it is recommended that the player use Pokemon that are Level 68 and above to beat AI Professor Turo’s Pokemon easily.

After defeating AI Professor Sada or Turo, the room will return to normal, and Arven, Penny, and Nemona will enter. Then, the weakened AI Professor will thank the player as the time machine is almost destroyed and tell Arven they are proud of him. An alarm will then go off that a threat to the time machine has been detected, and all of the Poke Balls will be locked except for those registered to the professors’ ID

After that, the room will change again, and the AI Professor will turn into the Paradise Protection Protocol. A battle against the Paradise Protection Protocol will then begin! The Paradise Protection Protocol will only use one Pokemon, which depends on the player’s version of the game: a Level 66 Koraidon, the Guardian of Paradise in Pokemon Scarlet, or a Level 66 Miraidon, the Guardian of Paradise in Pokemon Violet

Also, the player could not use any Pokemon from the player’s party as all of the Poke Balls will be locked instead of the ones registered to the Professor’s ID. So, select the Pokemon tab and the player’s Koraidon or Miraidon under the player’s party as it is registered to the Professor’s ID. The player’s Koraidon or Miraidon will enter the battle and switch to Battle Mode!

Koraidon, the Guardian of Paradise

A Fighting and Dragon-type Pokemon, Koraidon has a weakness (super effective) to Dragon-type, Flying-type, Ice-type, Psychic-type, and especially Fairy-type moves and resistance (not very effective) to the Bug-type, Dark-type, Electric-type, Fire-type, Grass-type, Rock-type, and Water-type moves.

Koraidon, the Guardian of Paradise, will use the following moves in Pokemon Scarlet/Violet “The Way Home”:

  • Taunt is a Dark-type status move with 100 Accuracy that restricts the opposing Pokemon only to use moves that deal damage for three turns.
  • Bulk Up is a Fighting-type status move that will raise the Attack and Defense stat of the Pokemon using the move by one stage.
  • Flamethrower is a special Fire-type move with 90 Power and 100 Accuracy; it also has a 10% chance of burning the opposing Pokemon.
  • Giga Impact is a physical Normal-type move with 150 Power and 90 Accuracy that, if used, the Pokemon who used the move will not be able to attack the next turn.

The Player’s Koraidon

The player’s Koraidon and Koraidon, the Guardian of Paradise, have the Ability called Orichalcum Pulse, which will change the weather to Harsh Sunlight for five turns and raise its Attack stat by 30% while Harsh Sunlight is active.

The player’s Koraidon, although the same Pokemon as the opposing Pokemon, can use different moves:

  • Flamethrower is a special Fire-type move with 90 Power and 100 Accuracy also has a 10% chance of burning the opposing Pokemon.
  • Collision Course is a physical Fighting-type move with 100 Power and 100 Accuracy that deals 30% more damage if the move deals super effective damage.
  • Endure is a Normal-type status move that will make the Pokemon using the move survive any attack for a single turn and leave at least 1 HP. This move, however, has a chance of failing if the move is used consecutively.
  • Tera Blast is a special Normal-type move with 80 Power and 100 Accuracy that, when performed when the Pokemon using the move is Terastallized, the move’s type changes to the Pokemon’s Tera Type, and the move becomes a Physical move if the Pokemon’s Attack stat is higher than its Special Attack stat.

Tips

It is recommended that the player use Collision Course to deal damage against Koraidon, the Guardian of Paradise, as, even though it will only deal the normal amount of damage, the opposing Pokemon is resistant to Fire-type moves like Flamethrower and Tera Blast is more useful if the player’s Pokemon is Terastallized. Collision Course will only take off some of the opposing Pokemon’s HP, but it is better than nothing.

Watch out when the Guardian of Paradise uses Bulk Up, meaning it may use Giga Impact next, which is a very powerful move. After it unleashes this move, it cannot move on to its next turn. So, once it uses Bulk Up, use Endure to ensure that the player’s Koraidon will have at least 1 HP left after the Guardian of Paradise uses Giga Impact.

Additionally, ensure that the player has Potions, preferably Max Potions or Full Restores, on hand to heal up the player’s Koraidon when needed.

Once the player’s Koraidon can, make sure to Terastallize it and use Tera Blast to deal major damage to the Guardian of Paradise and keep doing this until it is defeated!

Miraidon, the Guardian of Paradise

Miraidon is an Electric and Dragon-type Pokemon. It has a weakness (super effective) to Dragon-type, Fairy-type, Ground-type, and Ice-type moves and resistance (not very effective) to Fire-type, Flying-type, Grass-type, Steel-type, Water-type, and especially Electric-type moves.

Miraidon, the Guardian of Paradise, will use the following moves in Pokemon Scarlet/Violet “The Way Home”:

  • Taunt is a Dark-type status move with 100 Accuracy that restricts the opposing Pokemon to only use moves that deal damage for three turns.
  • Charge is an Electric-type status move with 100 Accuracy, raises the damage output of its next Electric-type attack by 100%, and also increases the Defense stat of the Pokemon using the move by one stage.
  • Power Gem is a special Rock-type move with 80 Power and 100 Accuracy.
  • Hyper Beam is a special Normal-type move with 150 Power and 90 Accuracy that, if used, the Pokemon who used the move will not be able to attack the next turn.

The Player’s Miraidon

The player’s Miraidon and Miraidon, the Guardian of Paradise, have the Ability called Hadron Engine, which will activate Electric Terrain for five turns and raise its Special Attack stat by 30% while Electric Terrain is active.

The player’s Miraidon, even though the same Pokemon as the Guardian of Paradise, can use different moves:

  • Power Gem is a special Rock-type move with 80 Power and 100 Accuracy.
  • Electro Drift is a special Electric-type move with 100 Power and 100 Accuracy that deals 30% more damage if the move deals super effective damage.

Tips

The player is advised to use Power Gem to damage Miraidon, the Guardian of Paradise, because the opposing Pokemon is resistant to Electric-type moves like Electro Drift. Power Gem only depletes a small portion of the opposing Pokemon’s HP, but it’s better than nothing. Tera Blast is more useful if the player’s Pokemon is Terastallized.

When the Guardian of Paradise uses Charge, it powers up and may use Hyper Beam next, which is a very powerful move. It cannot move on to its next turn after unleashing this move. So, after it uses Charge, use Endure to ensure that the player’s Miraidon has at least 1 HP remaining after the Guardian of Paradise uses Hyper Beam.

Additionally, ensure that the player has Potions on hand, preferably Max Potions or Full Restores, to heal the player’s Miraidon as needed.

Once the player’s Koraidon is capable, Terastallize it and use Tera Blast to deal massive damage to the Guardian of Paradise, and repeat until it is defeated!

After defeating the Paradise Protection Protocol, the AI Professor Sada or Turo will return to normal but move glitchy. He will be amazed at what the player and the gang have done and thank them. However, he will reveal that the time machine will not be destroyed as long as the AI Professor exists.

So, the AI Professor will say they will instead use the time machine to head to the past/future they always dreamt of. He will apologize to Arven for keeping the truth from him for so long and say his mother/father truly loved him. Then he will bid them goodbye and use the time machine to disable it completely.

Next, Nemona will say that the player and Koraidon/Miraidon just saved all of Paldea. Select any of the responses on the prompt when Nemona asks what they should do next, and a cutscene will play where they decide to take a long way home then the credits will roll.

The player has now completed “The Way Home” questline and the game’s main story! After the credits, the player will be back in the player’s dorm room in the academy, ready to take on what the post-game has to offer!
