Riding Bikes is a common feature in almost every Pokemon game, and it is back in Pokemon Sword and Shield!

How to Customize your Rotom Bike in Pokemon Sword/Shield

However, in these versions of the game, your trainer will be riding a Rotom Bike. To obtain a Rotom Bike, you first have to beat the first gym located in Turffield; then, you need to go to Route 5. After reaching Route 5’s Pokemon Nursery, head right to the bridge, and there you will find a couple of Team Yell goons bothering an NPC to give them his bike. All you have to do is beat these Team Yell goons in a quick Pokemon battle and, after that, the NPC will reward you with a Rotom Bike!

After acquiring the Rotom Bike, all you have to do to use it is press the + or – button, and the Rotom Bike will appear with your trainer riding it along with a change in their clothes plus a helmet!

You can use the Rotom Bike almost anywhere in the Galar Region! However, it makes finding some of the sparkling and hidden objects in the game more challenging than when walking on foot because of the speed.

If you do not like the basic appearance of your trainer while riding the Rotom Bike, you can change its color scheme. To do this, you must first be in the Wild Area and find a Watt Trader. Once you find a Watt Trader, talk to him, and on the prompt, select ‘A makeover!’.

A Watt Trader can be found in the Meetup Spot, in East Lake Axewell just outside the entrance of Motostoke, in Dappled Grove, in Giant’s Seat, outside of the Pokemon Nursery in Bridge Field, in Hammerlocke Hills just outside the entrance of Hammerlocke, and in Giant’s Cap.

It is important to note the color that your Rotom Bike outfit will change to is based on the type of the first Pokemon in your party. For example, if the first Pokemon in your party is a Rillaboom, the Watt Trader will change your Rotom Bike outfit’s color scheme to Grass-type colors. You can try each type of Pokemon you want until you find the color scheme you prefer. After finding the right one for you, you do not have to always place the Pokemon with that type as the first Pokemon in your party. You can change the first Pokemon in your party, and the color scheme of your Rotom Bike outfit will not change.

And just like that, you have changed the colors of your Rotom Bike outfit!

If you have the Isle of Armor Expansion for Pokemon Sword and Shield, you can also change the appearance of your Rotom Bike!

To do this, you must be in the Fields of Honor area of the Isle of Armor, and near the Dojo, you will find the Bike Lady. Once you find her, talk to the Bike Lady, and on the prompt, select ‘Yes, customize my Bike.’ Unfortunately, there are only two designs to choose from Sparkling White or Glistening Black. Select according to your preference, and just like that, you have changed your Rotom Bike’s appearance.

Once you change your Rotom Bike’s appearance, not only will the Rotom Bike’s appearance change, but your trainers Rotom Bike outfit will also change! For example, suppose your Rotom Bike outfit before changing your appearance has a Dark-type color scheme (purple and blue) after customizing your Rotom Bike. In that case, your Rotom Bike outfit will turn into either purple or white color scheme if you choose the Sparkling White option or a purple and black color scheme if you choose the Glistening Black option. Additionally, the patterns on the outfit will also be changed from the circles of the basic Rotom Bike outfit to something different, along with a new helmet.

After customizing your Rotom Bike, animation and trails will also appear once you ride the Rotom Bike around. Stars will twinkle around your Rotom Bike as you ride around if you choose the Sparkling White option, and colorful square symbols will appear as you ride around if you choose the Glistening Black option.

It is important to mention that you can still change the colors of your Rotom Bike outfit after customizing your appearance and the Rotom Bike’s. You can do this by talking to the Bike Lady or a Watt Trader and doing the same steps mentioned before on changing colors.

If you dislike the change in the appearance of your outfit and Rotom Bike, however, you can revert it to the basic Rotom Bike appearance and outfit design. To do this, talk to the Bike Lady near the Dojo in the Fields of Honor area in the Isle of Armor and select ‘yes, customize my bike,’ then on the following prompt, select ‘Original design.’ And just like that, you are on the standard design for the Rotom Bike.
