It’s been almost a decade since the release of Grand Theft Auto V, and Rockstar Games has managed to keep the game alive after all these years. With so many fans asking endlessly for the follow-up, Rockstar has officially confirmed that they are working on the next Grand Theft Auto title.
In a new press release statement (via IGN), a Rockstar spokesperson wrote:
“With the unprecedented longevity of GTAV, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered — and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway. We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready, so please stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details.
On behalf of our entire team, we thank you all for your support and cannot wait to step into the future with you!”
Granted that the last GTA game was massive, we should expect this sequel to be an even larger sandbox. We don’t have any release window announced yet, but it has been speculated that GTA VI could come out sometime around 2024 or 2025.
We don’t know which location the next GTA game could go to, but the last location , Los Santos, is a play on the city of Los Angeles. Who knows, maybe this sequel will bring somewhere outside of the US; or maybe give us more cities to explore this time around.
