Many fans are excited to jump back into Peter Parker’s story with Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man 2, though the reveal has been sparse for the title. What’s great is this weekend will give us a little prequel to the game in the form of a comic.
As announced by PlayStation, a prequel to Spider-Man 2 will be coming out as a comic on May 6, Free Comic Book Day. Here’s the description:
In this story, their lives collide as Peter, Miles, and MJ attempt to balance their responsibilities to the city and each other. They keep returning to one of the main themes of the comic: is magic real? Because in this action-packed issue, a beloved Super Villain makes their first appearance in our universe and appears to have supernatural abilities that defy mere webs and fists: none other than The Hood!
The story comes from artist Ig Guara and writer Christos Gage who also wrote the Spider-Man game. I hope it’s extensive enough that you don’t have to play the first game to get caught up. Hopefully, the comic will bring everyone up to speed by the time Spider-Man 2 releases.
There is no official release date for Spider-Man 2, but the game is expected to come exclusively to the PS5 later this year. Watch out for the prequel comic when it comes to a comic book store near you this weekend.
