How To Make Wooden Platforms in Tears of the Kingdom

The follow-up to Breath of the Wild is finally out and differs greatly from the first installment. Numerous new mechanics exist in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The ability to control and attach objects is one of them.

This feature may appear basic, yet it opens up a world of possibilities for Hyrule adventurers. Link’s ability to move and attach objects allows him to construct various machines and gadgets. Link can use this skill to create anything, from a basic raft to a flying robot that attacks opponents.

There is no limit to what Link may create except for the player’s imagination and inventiveness. Out of all the possible creations that Link can make, in this guide, we will talk about the most basic one: how to build wooden platforms in Tears of the Kingdom!

Wooden Platforms in Tears of the Kingdom

As mentioned, wooden platforms are probably the most basic object that Link can create in the game. This is because it has a lot of various possible uses. Link can use wooden platforms as simple as a raft to traverse bodies of water. Or, Link can use wooden platforms as complex as the base platform of a very tricked-out vehicle. Because of that, learning how to make wooden platforms in the game becomes necessary.

Aside from actually making wooden platforms, Link can find wooden platforms of different sizes around Hyrule. Link can find lots of these platforms as part of the Hyrule Restoration Materials scattered on the surface of Hyrule. The player can use these wooden platforms for various contraptions using the Ultrahand ability.

Requirements

To make wooden platforms, Link must have the Ultrahand ability and an Axe.

Ultrahand Ability

Link must first gain the Ultrahand ability to control and attach objects. This ability permits Link to grab and manipulate objects and rotate and attach them to other objects. It is similar to the Magnesis Rune ability in Breath of the Wild. The Ultrahand ability, on the other hand, is not confined to metallic objects and has extra advantages.

Link must visit the Ukouh Shrine, or “The Ability to Create,” to learn the Ultrahand ability. This Shrine is located on top of a cliff on the northern side of Great Sky Island, southwest of the Temple of Time. Link can discover this Shrine by heading to the following coordinates: 0274, -0913, 1460. The Ukouh Shrine is Link’s first interaction with a Shrine in the game.

The Ultrahand allows Link to grab an object, hold the R button, and use the directional buttons to rotate it. Link can then bring the object next to another object and press the A button to attach them.

Axe

Aside from attacking foes, Link can easily chop trees with an axe. This is what we’ll use to make wooden platforms. Link can chop down trees with just a few hits with his axes. Link may also use the axe to quickly break wooden crates and barrels. These wooden boxes and barrels may supply Link with arrows and other little goods such as apples and mushrooms.

Link can obtain an axe by exploring the open world of Hyrule. The player can find an axe inside treasure chests, wedged in tree stumps, or lying about, sometimes against a wall.

Aside from that, there is still another option to get an axe. That is to make one yourself! There are many combinations to create an axe in Tears of the Kingdom. Some combinations do not even mention that the weapon is an axe. However, they still function the same. The requirements to make the most basic axe are the Fuse ability, a base weapon, and a stone.

Fuse ability

The Fuse ability enables Link to combine something with his equipped weapon, shield, or arrows. This ability enables Link to build various weapons, shields, and arrows that have various effects. The player can undo the combination through Link’s inventory. Doing so will result in the loss of the object. The base weapon or shield is safe.

Link must enter the In-isa Shrine named “The Ability to Combine” to obtain the Fuse ability. This is Link’s second interaction with a Shrine in the game. The In-isa Shrine is on a mountain beside a huge lake northwest of the Room of Awakening. Link can discover the Shrine in the Great Sky Island’s southwestern corner. To be more precise, Link can enter the Shrine at the following coordinates: 0027, -1503, 1408.

Base Weapon

Link can construct an axe out of any weapon that is not a spear. A Tree Branch can even be used as the base weapon. The axes throughout Hyrule typically utilize Wooden Sticks or Thick Sticks as their base weapon.

Another thing to remember is that the base weapon will, of course, define the type of axe Link will create. A one-handed weapon will create a one-handed axe, which is fantastic for striking faster. A two-handed base weapon will yield to a two-handed axe, which normally deals more damage.

Stone

The stone is the fused axe’s blade. That may appear straightforward. However, it is important to emphasize that Rocks shouldn’t be confused with Stones. Because they resemble each other, they are often switched for each other.

The Stones are distinguished by their more jagged edges. Rocks, on the other hand, are typically significantly larger and appear more spherical or rectangular. If the player is still confused if it is a Stone or a Rock, attentively examine the item’s name when it appears. A hammer-type weapon is created after combining a base and a Rock. This weapon is more effective at shattering ore deposits.

The great thing about a Stone is that it is quite easy to locate. The downside is that it adds very little attack power. However, as previously stated, Link can also utilize other materials to create a weapon that performs similarly to an axe.

What’s amazing about employing other materials is that they give the axe additional attack power than Stones. Among these materials are the Soldier Construct II Horn, Soldier Construct III Horn, Soldier Construct IV Horn, Blue Boss Bokoblin Horn, Black Boss Bokoblin Horn, Silver Boss Bokoblin Horn, Hinox Toenail, Lynel Saber Horn, Blue-Maned Lynel Saber Horn, and White-Maned Lynel Saber Horn.

Making an Axe

To make an axe, Link must do the following:

  1. First, equip the desired base weapon.
  2. Then, look for a stone on the ground. If you want to fuse one of the more powerful materials mentioned above, drop it on the floor
  3. Next, hold the L button and use the right stick to select the Fuse ability. Go near the stone or the dropped material to select it as a fuse target. Finally, press the Y button once the prompt appears to fuse the material with the equipped base weapon. Link has now made an Axe!

How to Make Wooden Platforms

Now that Link has all the requirements; Link can now make wooden platforms! To do that, this is what Link must do:

  1. First, look for an area with a lot of trees.
  2. Next, use the axe to chop trees and get large logs. Keep on doing this until the player gets the desired number of logs. Make sure not to hit the logs again using the axe, as this will turn it into a bundle of wood.
  3. After that, hold the L button and use the right stick to select the Ultrahand ability. Aim on one of the logs and press the A button to grab it. Hold the R button and use the directional button to rotate the log if necessary.
  4. Then, bring the log to the side of another log and press the A button to attach it.
  5. Next, attach more logs to the Ultrahand creation if the player desires. The player can also attach objects to the wooden platform, like Zonai Fans or some Zonai Wheels. Finally, Link has now created a wooden platform!

Conclusion

Making wooden platforms in Tears of the Kingdom adds a dynamic and creative dimension to the gameplay experience. By following a straightforward process of gathering essential materials like axes and logs, Link can construct versatile platforms to access new areas, solve puzzles, and navigate challenging terrains.

This simple yet engaging mechanic encourages players to think outside the box and explore their surroundings uniquely. The ability to fashion these platforms further enhances the immersion in the game’s world and fosters a sense of accomplishment as players conquer obstacles and unveil hidden secrets.

In the beautiful world of Tears of the Kingdom, mastering the art of wooden platform crafting is not just a means of progression but a rewarding adventure.
