Nathan Drake may have already seen A Thief’s End, but the character will live on on the big screen thanks to star Tom Holland. After a successful release with the first film, it looks like Sony is ready to invest in more live-action treasure hunting.
Knight Edge Media and Geek Vibes Nation report that Sony is pushing forward with a sequel to Uncharted. Here’s the post:
We don’t know where the story could go yet, but it’s likely we’ll be seeing the return of Nate (Tom Holland) and Sully (Mark Wahlberg) as they continue on their treasure-hunting hijinks. I wouldn’t be surprised if Chloe (Sophia Ali) came back as well; but it’s possible we could finally have the introduction of Nate’s love interest from the games, Elena Fisher.
Of course, the real narrative thread that the movies have been teasing is the one between Nate and his long-lost brother Sam Drake. We don’t know how they’ll change his story for the films, but I’m already curious about who they’re getting to play Sam in the sequel. We know that Rudy Pankow played Sam in the after-credits scene, but I think that the studio would want someone else more recognizable to take on the role of Tom Holland’s on-screen brother.
For some reason, I kind of want Alden Ehrenreich to be some kind of rival to Drake. Something about playing Han Solo and Harrison Ford being Indiana Jones makes me want to see it happen.
No release date has been set for the Uncharted sequel.
